10 sneaky ways to increase your daily water intake

We may have heard the facts many times that we should drink more water, especially during the hot, hazy, and humid days of the summer. But increasing your water intake can be challenging.

We all know water is a very important thing for our health, glowing skin, digestion, weight loss, manage diabetes, essential in pregnancy and the list goes on.

We also know we have to drink 2 to 3 liters every day or 8 to 10 glasses of water, but how many of us actually this goal on a daily basis. We are so busy that water consumption becomes a secondary place in our day to day life, we spend most of our time in the office, or in the car traveling to and from work, then the gym, and finally home to rest.

If you are also struggling in increasing your water intake, here are 10 sneaky ways to help you drink more and stay hydrated throughout the day.

  • Flavor the water

If plain water doesn’t appeal to you all day, try infusing your water with some citrusy flavor. Just slice up things like lime, lemon, chopped cucumber, mint, strawberry. Let it infuse your water with fruity flavor in vessel jar when you are at home or in a water bottle when you are out. Just to add little bit flavor in your water

  • Keep water within your reach

Keeping a water bottle with you everywhere can help you drink more water. From the moment you wake up must have access to water, keep water beside your bed, car, workspace, college desk, etc. We know we all lazy to fill water bottles. So in winter keep a kettle beside your bed or in a table you often cross or in summer keep water in a clay pot which keeps the water cold.

  • Habit building

Pick a habit of yours and associate drinking water with it. For example, my habit is chewing every two hours so I drink a glass of water 5 min before every meal just 6 to 7 glass of water with following my habit. Some people have water every time they go washroom, similarly every time you logout with Instagram makes a habit of drinking a glass of water. It’s up to you no one knows you better than yourself.

  • Empty bottle theory

This theory works well with everybody who travels daily for work or college and does not like carrying a heavy bag. Take a one-liter empty bottle every day and fill it up at the workspace and finish it before heading back home. This way you finish at least 1 liter of water every day while away from home and also you don’t have to carry heavy bags.

  • New Bottle

Grab yourself a nice fancy water bottle that fits in your bag and take it with you wherever you go. Seeing the bottle there is a visual reminder to sip it throughout the day.

  • Substitute

Another sneaky way to increase the intake of water you consume on a daily basis: eat your H2O. Choose fruits and vegetables with high water content. Foods like watermelon cucumber, tomatoes also contain lots of water and helps in reducing dehydration so make sure this food must be in your daily diet.

  • Set a Goal 

Set a daily goal, if you need a little motivation, set a daily hydration goal for yourself. Use a phone app like waterlogged, Carbodroid update it throughout the day, keep track of your progress, or you can get a smart water bottle that tracks your water intake.

  • Glass of Water

Every time you drink a glass of water filled the next one up on the table beside. Chance are you drink it in the next ten min in the fear of falling it.

  • Act of inspiration

If you are someone who drinks 8 glasses of water every day, talk about the benefits with your friends and family members, so that they also get into the habit of drinking more water.
