Ayurveda herbs to naturally boost the immune system and fight off diseases

Any time is a good time to think about strengthening your immunity. At a time of extraordinary stress like the current coronavirus pandemic, when we are all worried about keeping our immunity strong, taking help from Ayurveda can prove to be immensely great.

Ayurveda was developed more than 5,000 years ago in India. It is one of the world’s oldest holistic healing system and it is also known as “The science of life” in Sanskrit. Ayurveda is all about natural healing mainly emphasizing lifestyle, positive thinking, diet, and the use of herbs.

The knowledge of Ayurveda based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a balance between our body, soul, and mind.

Here are the three core areas, where  Ayurveda could really help us in boosting our immunity against the viruses.

Nutrition:

The first and most important thing to have a healthy immune system is diet and proper nutrition intake. The body needs a proper supply of nutrients for its right functioning and maintenance.

To take good care of our body, it is very important to balance your diet with all sources of vitamins, protein, and fibers. Never rely so much on junk food or processed food add the fruits and vegetables in your diet. The food items such as cabbage, ginger, broccoli, yogurt, cucumber, kale, almonds, citrus fruits, etc are all good for immunity.

Also here are some ayurvedic herbs and spices that you need to take to immune your overall health: 

# Tulsi

Tulsi is known in Ayurveda as an “elixir of life”. It is an ayurvedic solution to all basic human troubles. From reducing pain to protecting the liver, tulsi is a very common health refreshing herb found in every Indian household. It has antimicrobial and anti-allergic properties which are used for treating fever, common cold, skin disorder, and headaches.

# Ginger

Ginger, known as Aadrak or Shunti in Sanskrit, is also known as Vishwa-Aushadh in Ayurveda, has many health benefits. Have an inch long slice of Ginger with a pinch of rock salt prior to lunch and dinner to your digestive system. It also increases improves the absorption of nutrients, our appetite, and removes all the toxins from our body.

# Turmeric

Turmeric is a traditional spice widely used in Indian households and is an easy solution for every health issue. It has been the go-to remedy to fight any infection!

Turmeric has incredible healing properties, loaded with antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antiviral, anti-carcinogenic, and antibacterial properties. It is very commonly used in Ayurveda and is extremely beneficial for our digestive system.

#Giloy

Another powerful plant-based medicinal product, giloy is also known as “Amrita”, which means “the roots of immortality”. It is used in Ayurveda for its power to heal fevers and digestive disorders and to help manage type 2 diabetes. It boosts our immunity, removes toxins, fights all the bacteria, and purifies our blood.

All these herbs are very commonly used in ayurvedic medicines. These ayurvedic herbs help in naturally boosting immunity.

Workout

Regular exercise like brisk walking, jogging, yoga, etc. increase our heart rate, which acts as a physiological stressor for our body. It kicks starts with some normal immune processes.

An easy workout for at least 20-30 minutes daily helps us fight infections by reducing stress and strengthening our body’s functions and systems and boosting our immune system.

Sleeping schedule

While sleeping more won’t necessarily prevent you from getting sick, skimping on it could adversely affect your immune system. It also increases the risk of catching a bad cold or flu. A good sleep of at least 8 hours of daily, can help the production of cytokines, a type of protein that helps our body to fight infections and
inflammation.
