How many times have you skipped on your exercise because you were too ‘busy’ or ‘didn’t have time’? I do that every day every week. Lazy kids. Huh. When it comes to health, we’re a little too dismissive. A little too much for our own good. If you’re a busy college kid swamped with assignments or a professional who just can’t catch a break with their bosses, this is the article for you.

I curated a short health and wellness guide for you to follow. It is easy and simple and requires you to make minor changes in your lifestyle.

Let’s jog into it, shall we?

First is nutrition.

  • You are what you eat. Most of us dread the thought of dieting. But let’s not think of that right now. I won’t promote dieting. What I will tell you is to practice moderation. The most effective thought process for this is to think of it as a lifestyle change for the better. Make eating healthy a priority and indulge in moderation. Had a healthy lunch? Indulge in a scoop of ice cream for dinner. Don’t starve yourself. Ever.
  • Try following a meal plan. Meal plans are basically tailored for your individual needs. It has proper counts of calorie intake, carbs, and protein intake, and such. There are many meal plans you can follow. So try to plan your meals and keep it fresh and simple.
  • We are all in a habit of munching out of time or snacking whenever we feel like. Avoid that. If you are a snacker, choose healthy snacks. A few almonds or a little dark chocolate goes a long way. Fruits are a great snack alternative. Avoid consuming too many liquid calories. sodas, lattes, packaged fruit juice, one thing they have in common is high-calorie counts. Rather than these, try shifting to water. Even flavored water works! Add some fruits, herbs, and veggies and your set for a healthy hydrating drink!

Nutrition

Tips to crunch in a workout.

  • We are all in search of some tips regarding workout and fitness. We want toned muscles without putting in the work which is just not possible. But let us start small. First was to incorporate a good workout into a limited time frame is doing more for less. This simply means to do more workout with less time. High-intensity interval training is a great way to go for your busy bod. Take up cycling or running. 15-30 mins are all that is required.
  • CDC requires you to get at least 2.5 hours of workout each week. This will not only maintain your health but also prevent diseases in the long run.
  • Another easy way is to incorporate little regimes into your daily life. Walk up the stairs or take a stroll when you’re on call. Simple steps go a long way.
  • Find a workout that appeals to you. If you don’t like the monotonous workouts at the gym, mix it up. Play basketball, indulge in a game, go running or yoga is that is what you like. Don’t be sedentary for too long. Keep moving.
  • Track your progress. Always. Set a goal for yourself and diligently stick to it. You’ll feel healthier and fitter in no time!

Change in lifestyle.

  • You have to seriously think about making certain changes to your lifestyle. Be mindful of your health. Put reminders and alarms for the day to help you stay on track. Start your day keeping in mind your health and fitness. Make time for yourself every day.
  • Turn off your phones before you sleep. Too much electronic light before bed leads to insomnia and disrupted circadian rhythms. Pave off the temptations and keep your phone away at least 2 hours before sleep. Have a good 6-7 hours of sleep.
  • Stress is bad for your health. Indulge in activities that help you keep stress and anxiety at bay. Read a book, play a game or just take a power nap. Whatever floats your boat.
  • Lastly, don’t be too hard on yourself. One extra cookie or a slice of pizza won’t make much of a difference till you stick to your health plan. Remember what I said at the start? Moderation. It is the key to a good life.
