I just love handmade soaps. They’re so much better and cost-efficient than regular soaps. And the best part is you can get extremely creative with them. Whether you gift them or use them for yourself, you can always make more and more. Handmade soaps always smell better than what you get at the stores. They are not mass-made so whatever you make will be unique to you. You can mix and match ingredients to create the soap for your needs.

While there are many soaps you can make, I am here to inspire you with some fancy ideas.

The basic ingredient you need for this is some glycerin melt and pour soap base and heat resistant molds (preferably silicone) to set the soaps.

Let us begin!

Herby soap: It is aesthetically pleasing and perfect for pretty gifts. Let us see what we need.

  • Dried flowers and herbs
  • Glycerin melt and poor base
  • Essential oils like tea tree, eucalyptus, lemon, etc
  • Silicone molds

Directions:

  • Cut the soap and melt it according to package instructions.
  • After you’ve melted it, the soap base is going to be hot so be very careful!
  • Mix in 4-5 drops of essential oils of your choice. Generally, it is 4 drops per 28 grams. Stir gently to avoid forming bubbles.
  • Put the dried ingredients into the mold and pour in the melted soap slowly.
  • Let it cool completely and then they are ready for use!

Lavender oatmeal soap: Make this hydrating and exfoliating soap for yourself and your loved ones.

Here is what you need:

  • 280-300 grams of melt and pour goat’s milk soap base.
  • 1-2 tbsp dried lavender flowers
  • 1/4 cup quick oats/oatmeal
  • 1/4-1/3 tsp lavender essential oil

Directions:

  • Melt the soap according to instructions.
  • Mix in the oats and lavender flowers slowly.
  • Mix in the essential oil. You may add other essential oils too but be careful so as to not overpower your senses.
  • Set it in molds of your choice and it is ready to use!

Calamine soap: I saved my favorite for the last. This soap is good for those who have acne-prone skin or troubled skin. It has the goodness of clay to soothe your irritable skin. Add in some face-soothing essential oils and you’re good to go!

What you need for this is:

  • 800-900 grams melt and pour base
  • 55 grams of clay. You should use skin-friendly clay. You can also calamine lotion.
  • Chamomile essential oil 15 drops
  • 10 drops tea tree essential oil
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil

Directions:

  • melt the soap in a microwave-safe dish according to pack instructions
  • Once the soap is completely melted, add in the remaining ingredients and mix slowly
  • Pour into the molds and let it cool, preferably overnight
  • Remove from mold and they’re ready to be used!
