Wash the chikoo properly to make the outer layer soft. Then peel and chop 1 cup of chikoo and remove the seeds. Put one cup of chikoo a blender along with 1 cup of milk to it. Add sugar to taste and blend it until you get a smooth texture.
Papaya Muskmelon Juice
Peel and chop half papaya and half muskmelon. Put the chopped pieces in a blender along with one tbsp. of lime juice and few ice cubes in it. Whiz it well to make a smooth texture. Pour in a tall glass and garnish with a thin muskmelon slice before you serve.
Take a cup of grapes of your preference: red, green or black. Wash them and let it soak in water in a large bowl/jar filled with water. Then in your favorite blender put the grapes and add a pinch of back salt and one teaspoon of lime juice or else you can also try a teaspoon of fruit chat masala. Strawberry watermelon Juice
Take 8 to 9 large or 1 cup Strawberries and 1 ½ cups of watermelon diced into small pieces in a blender and add 2-3 teaspoons lemon juice. Add half cup water and few ice cubes then give two to three long whizzes to make it smooth. Then strain the puree to obtain a glass of chilled and refreshing juice. Garnish with a slice of strawberry and serve.

- Take the water in a Jug and dissolve the powdered jaggery. Keep it undisturbed for about 5 minutes allowing the impurities in the jaggery to settle down. Then, strain the jaggery water
- Add the cardamom, dried ginger, and lime juice and mix well.
- Pour into tall glasses and serve.
- You can also keep it in the refrigerator in case u want to have a chilled Paanakam.
Mango Jaggery Treat
Ingredients: 2 cups chopped mangoes, ½ cup jaggery powdered, 1 cup curd.
- Mix all the ingredients in a mixer along with 1 cup chilled water or some ice crush. Then blend it until it becomes smooth
- Pour into glasses and serve chilled.
Gud wali Chai (Jaggery Tea)
Ingredients: Jaggery (Gur) grated 3-4 tablespoons, Tea leaves 2 tablespoons, 4 broken Green cardamoms, Fennel seeds (saunf) 1 teaspoon, Crushed black peppercorns 1/2 teaspoon, Milk 1/2 cup.
Take a saucepan and heat 1 cup water. Add cardamoms, crushed peppercorns, fennel seeds and tea leaves. Bring it to boil.
- Then, add milk and again bring it to boil.
- Put jaggery in the teapot and strain the prepared tea mixture into the teapot. Stir well until the jaggery melts.
- Serve hot.

Last week I was in Goa and while having some cocktails at the famous Baga beach, I was thinking what if we can bring some desi Indian taste to the cocktails. So, I tried to make some Desi cocktails at home and trust me it was amazing. Here are some recipes that really took my heart…
PAAN KI DUKAAN
This is a real refreshing cocktail to anyone. Apart from its stimulating flavor, it holds the benefits betel leaves, popularly suggested as a cure to the common cold. The vodka in this cocktail is just the cherry on top and provides you a festive feel.
Ingredients: 2 fresh paan leaves, 4 cardamoms, 1 spoon gulkand, 45ml vodka, 15ml Sambuca, 1 maraschino cherry.
Crush the paan or betel leaf, cardamom, and gulkand in a cocktail shaker. Add the Sambuca and vodka. Then add some ice crush and shake well. Strain the mixture into a glass filled with ice and betel leaves. Finally, garnish with cherry and cardamom.
CURRY SCOTCH SMASH
According to some bartender experts, scotch and curry are the perfect combinations, when we look for a classy and yet spicy twist.
Ingredients: 60ml blended scotch, 25ml lemon juice, 25ml curry simple syrup, Handful of mint
Combine all the ingredients in the shaker. Shake well and then fine strain. Garnish with a thin lime slice and a tiny mint twig.
KHARA MASALA SPICED WINE
Another total desi and the yet amazing twist are when red wine combines with a couple of ingredients that can be easily available in any Indian Kitchen.
Ingredients: 1 bottle red wine, 60gm demerara sugar, 1 cinnamon stick, A pinch of grated nutmeg, 8 cloves, 2 big black cardamoms, 1 orange, sliced into half, 1 dried bay leaf, 60ml sloe or damson gin (optional)
Take a saucepan and put the wine in it along with orange, sugar, bay leaf and the spices. Heat it gently until the sugar gets dissolved. Remove the wine off the heat. Then stir in the sloe or damson gin if you want it. Strain into heatproof glasses and serve immediately.
Chai or the Tea, the most common and desi hot beverage of India, when added to vodka stirs your senses.
Ingredients: 4 masala chai tea bags, 1 cup boiling water, 1-ounce vodka, 1 ounce of any liqueur, Crushed ice, freshly ground nutmeg
Take a large cup, put the tea bags it and pour the boiling water. Let them steep in the water for a few minutes. Then take out the tea bags and refrigerate the tea for half an hour.
Take a martini shaker and add vodka, half a cup of the chilled tea and the liqueur of your preference (options are almond, hazelnut, orange or coconut). Then add crushed ice, and shake well.
Strain the liquid into a martini glass and garnish with grated nutmeg.
