No kidding- so many kinds of different beans, processing methods, brewing methods- we were pleasantly surprised. But since we can’t add everything here at once, we will be focusing on just one aspect at a time and for today it will be-

Types of coffee! In this write-up, we will be taking a look at 7 of the most well-known coffee types. Ready? Let’s go!

Espresso

From Italy, we get this thick coffee with creamy foam on top- Espresso has high level of caffeine and often serves as a base for most other coffees due to its thickness in addition of the caffeine concentration. And as it goes, Espresso is the most common type of coffee…and the purest. No additional ingredients- just you and a masterfully brewed cup of unadulterated coffee in all its bitterness!

Americano

Using Espresso as a base, we have American coffee which shot up in popularity around the Second World War. Just add hot water to a shot of espresso to get a bigger cup of coffee and there you have it! More caffeine with the same amount of ingredients.

Cappuccino

With espresso and 2 types of milk, we get Cappuccino, which is a strong contender for the position of most popular coffee in the world. It consists of three layers- A shot of espresso, a shot of steamed milk, and at last a layer of foamy milk.

Latte

The mildest of all coffees, Lattes are considered best for the beginners because it makes quite good use of milk with only one shot of coffee, thus balancing out the bitterness. And if you like your drink even sweeter- just add flavoring syrups to the mix! A cup of latte never disappoints no matter what your taste is.

Macchiato

This one is pretty strong and makes use of one-shot espresso with only a bit of milk. Macchiato is also known as Piccolo Latte and though it may seem similar to Cappuccino, don’t be confused- this one provides a stronger dose of caffeine.

Mocha

Mocha or Mochaccino is a kind of latte with espresso and plenty of milk but it comes with chocolate syrup or powder or whipped cream on top- enhancing that sweetness. For the same reason, it is considered to be a beverage somewhere between hot chocolate and coffee.

And of course, how can our list be complete with the almighty Instant coffee? Instant mixes are not really the ‘go-for’ beverages when it comes to coffee lovers but it has a charm of its own. I mean not everyone can brew a perfect cup of coffee from scratch at home and we can’t always turn to cafes… so then what would be better to satisfy that caffeine craving? Yes… Instant coffee- saving coffee lovers since the 19th century!
