Fashion is a reflection of the society we live in- the past, the present, and the future trends. It is an inescapable part of our lives, no matter if we pay attention to it or not- I mean who doesn’t want to look good? As such, fashion designers can actually be considered as one of the pillars of civilization… creating new, the trendy, the gorgeous…

Okay, okay… I may be exaggerating a tad bit… but come on! Don’t you think that Fashion Designers, especially the ones at the top of their game are totally awesome? So we made a list… of top fashion designers! Let’s have a look –

MANISH MALHOTRA

Of course, when talking about the top Indian designers, Manish Malhotra is one of the foremost names that come to one’s mind. And why not… he has ruled the Bollywood since 1990! He has worked his magic in over 1000 movies and his own label, established in 1998, is well-known in the fashion scene.

SABYASACHI MUKHERJEE

The popular brand which has created its own niche- Sabyasachi’s designs can be seen in a number of big Bollywood productions. In a career of over 20 years, he has won many awards and accolades.

MASABA GUPTA

See the source imageThe daughter of veteran actress Neena Gupta, Masaba launched her own label in 2009 after graduating in Apparel manufacturing and Design. She has a quite unique style, which incorporates traditional Indian and modern elements. Her designs make use of vibrant prints and lightweight fabric- making Masaba (the brand) a class on its own.

RITU KUMAR

See the source imageRecipient of Padma Shri Award, Ritu Kumar started in the industry in 1969 and since then has become one of the most acclaimed Indian designers. Her style is defined by how she makes use of traditional Indian crafts in her work. She has almost 30 stores across the country and is internationally recognized as well.

TARUN TAHILIANI

See the source imageTahiliani started out in 1987 and was the first Indian designer to showcase his work at Milan Fashion Week. His style draws from both Indian and Italian cultures while making use of modern techniques. He has designed for a number of stars on both national and global levels and is the co-founder of Ensemble, India’s first multi-designer boutique.
