When Indira Gandhi ruled 18 states, Punjab wasn’t in those 18.
When the British ruled all over India Punjab was the last one to come under that rule and immediately started a struggle for freedom.
In the freedom struggle against the British, the contribution of Punjabis is more than any.
When Mughal ruled India and converted Hindus to Islam, one and only one Punjab stood against them and Guru Teg Bahadur Ji ( 9th Guru & father of Guru Gobind Singh Ji ) laid down his life at Chandni Chowk in Delhi.
Guru Gobind Singh sacrificed all his four sons of the age of 7,9,14 & 17 years against the conversion to Islam. His two elder sons (Sahibzade) sacrificed their lives in the war against Mughals at Chamkaur Sahib(Pb) & younger two sons (Sahibzade) were bricked alive at Sirhind (Pb) by the Mughal ruler of that State.
Even when Sikander conquered all, only King Porus of Punjab dared to stop him.
We salute to the river land – Punjab.
Today is Death Anniversary of one of the greatest emperors in Indian history, Sher-E-Punjab, Maharaja Ranjit Singh.
Blinded in one eye, injured in one arm, yet he built up the great Sikh empire.
United the disparate Sikhs into a kingdom and built an empire that covered Punjab, Kashmir, Ladakh, and the entire North West.
Served by able men like Hari Singh Nalwa, Dewan Mokam Chand, Veer Singh Dhillon, Zorawar Singh.
Also built a modern army, even recruited European officers to bring in the latest techniques of warfare. That’s why British Rulers couldn’t annex Punjab until he was alive. Because of him, Punjab was the last State which came under British rule in 1849.
But alas no one teaches about his legacy in India.
Because of him, Punjab was the most literate state at that time. Even though he recruited European officers he ensured they followed a strict code of conduct, no beef, no smoking, and no alcohol.
As a matter of fact, Ranjit Singh banned cow slaughter in his empire.
A devout Sikh, who never differentiated on religion. Both his court and army had an equal number of Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims – a true secular king.
His finance minister was a Hindu Brahmin, his Prime Minister was a Dogra, his foreign minister a Muslim.
He also renovated the Golden Temple, gave it the gold plates, and gave an equal amount of gold to then Hindus and Muslims too, for the renovation of their shrines and temples.
Built Gurudwaras at Patna and Nanded, in honor of Guru Gobind Singh, both of which are considered among the Panch Takth.
A great warrior, an equally able and wise ruler, a truly great human being too.
Ranjit Singh is the only king in the history of the world to have conquered Afghans, which even modern militaries of USA and Russia couldn’t achieve, and eventually blocked entry of Mughals.
A humble tribute to this great emperor on his Death Anniversary. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Atari – Wagah Border
Atari – Indian Name
Wagah – Paki side name.
The Flag lowering ceremony is held at the Atari border?
How often have you heard the word ATARI?
Hardly ever, The Media with its extra-national loyalties has always called it the Wagah border.
Our politicians of the yore also took pride in calling it ‘The Wagah border’ Well! They had their own reasons.
But today we don’t have to toe the lies.
The place where the border check post is built was called Atari in honor of the great Sardar Shyam Singh Atariwala, who was a chief in the great Sikh Army of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The history is filled with the stories of bravery of these brave and fearless Sardars who had defeated the coward Army of the marauders attacking India in the name of their religion from the west.
All offices of the Govt, like the immigration, customs, etc are located in Atari. The Pakistani administration,
however, had named their side of the border as Wagah. Our appeasing politicians, (and you see them parroting similar lines even today), chose to refer to this place as the Wagah border thereby denying the honor to the great Sardar Shyam Singh.
Next time, when we wish to visit or wish to refer to that Great place, let’s talk about it correctly and honor the name of our brave legend ‘ATARI’.
Important Info in case of Trouble on Mumbai – Pune Expressway
I was travelling with my Parents and Family on Mumbai – Pune Expressway on 20th March 2019 – Moving towards Pune. After crossing Lonavla our Innova had a Puncture in one of its tyre’s. We had to stop in the middle of the Expressway at around 8.45pm. I took some immediate decisions.
1. Asked my entire family to Move out and stand much ahead of our Car. This only ensured that if any Heavy Vehicle accidentally bumps in our Car (though Parking Lights were ON) we have some safe passage.
2. Called on 9833498334 on the helpline provided on the expressway. They immediately answered the phone and advised me to speak to 9822498224 which is another Lonavla helpline number.
Much to my pleasant surprise, 2 Administration Personnel of IRDB approached our vehicle in less than 10 Mins.
Further, we had another issue – Our driver and vehicle had no proper means (it was a private car) to remove the Spare Tyre and he was struggling on this front. Immediately the Personnel from IRDB helped and called a Technician (mind you this was a Day of Holi) and they forced him to come down.
While the mechanic was busy doing the amends, the security Personnel secured the passage behind our Car by putting Safety Neon Sign Boards and one stood with a Torch Light to protect any vehicle coming near to our car.
One interesting thing and the reason for Writing all this
I was informed and made knowledgable by the Security Personnel that in such situations there is a way to inform the security helpline number, your whereabouts on the expressway (which I was not earlier aware and was not able to convey in my earlier communications on the helpline)
On the white Strips on the expressway, there are number codes and duly painted at every 10 feet distance. This number has got 2 digits engraved (an example is shown below)
The number 63 denotes the KM distance from the start of the expressway and 100 denotes the distance in feet after reaching 63 km. This codification continues till the end of the expressway in increasing order of Kms and subsequent intermediate distances in Feet
Once you convey the information to the helpline number it’s very easy for them to find out your exact location and reach you faster. In the night also, if one sees properly, the number is visible. It is painted after every 10ft with an increasing number towards the destination of Pune and is painted on both sides of the expressway.
Our car was finally done and the Security personnel stayed till the entire duration with us and even helped to amend the Car. (very welcome move)
On offering some token of appreciation they politely said no and said: “This is our Duty”. The entire process took almost 45 mins.
Please note all the information above may find useful to those who are not aware. In addition, see that your vehicle (if hired from 3rd Party) has got proper tools and a right Stand by Tyre in case of Emergency.
Have a safe journey!

Everyday Krishna would visit the garden and say to all the
plants, “I love you”. The plants were very happy and responded saying “Krishna, we love You too”.
One day Krishna rushed quickly into the garden very
alarmed. He went to the bamboo plant and the bamboo plant asked, “Krishna, what´s wrong?” Krishna said, “I have something to ask you, but it is very difficult”.
The bamboo said, “Tell me: if I can, I will give it to you”.
So Krishna said “I need your life. I need to cut you”. The bamboo thought for a while and then said “You don´t
have any other choice. You don’t have any other way ?”
Krishna said, “No, no other way”. And it said “OK” and gave himself up.
So Krishna cut the bamboo and made holes in it, and each
time, he carved the holes, the bamboo was crying in pain.
Krishna made a beautiful flute out of it and this flute was with him all the time; 24 hours a day, it was with Krishna. Even the Gopis were jealous of the flute. They said, “Look, Krishna is our Lord, but yet we get to spend only some time with him. He wakes up with you, he sleeps with you, all the time you are with him”.
Gopis asked the bamboo, “Tell us your secret. What secret
do you have, that the Lord treasures you so much ?” And the bamboo said “The secret is that I gave myself up,
and he did whatever was right for me, in the process I had
to undergo a lot of pain. And the Lord does whatever he wants with me, whenever he wants with me and however he wants with me. I have just become His instrument”.
So this is complete surrender: where God can do whatever
He wants with you, whenever He wants, as He wants. Trust Him completely and have faith in Him and Always Know.. that you are in His Hands … What can go wrong ??

A story that will definitely touch your heart
It was getting dark. Someone was calling from behind the locked iron gate. Wondering who it could be I came out. An elderly person was standing behind the gate. The clothes wrinkled and with a small bag in his hand, he appeared to have traveled some distance coming here. Looking into a small piece of paper in his hands he enquired, “Isn’t this Anand, Number8, Yogananda Street, my son?” “Yes, I am Anand and this is the address. And you…”, I mumbled. Slightly shivering and moistening his dry lips with the tongue he replied, handing over the letter, “Babu, I am your father’s friend. I am coming from your village. Your father gave me this letter and advised that I seek help from you”.
Taking that letter from him, exclaiming “father?”, I eagerly read that letter. “Dear Anand, blessings to you. The person carrying this letter is my friend. His name is Ramayya. Works hard. A few days ago, his only son died in an accident. He is running around seeking compensation. That would help him and his wife to pull along with the other meager income. I am sending the police reports after the accident, the compensation affidavits given by the Travel Agents and other relevant papers. He was told that the final payment may be collected in the Head Office. This is his first visit to Hyderabad and he is a stranger. I am hoping that you would be able to help him. Take care of your health. Visit us at your earliest convenience. Your loving father”.
Ramayyagaru was standing watching me. I thought for a moment and invited him inside. Giving him some water to drink, I enquired, “did you have anything to eat?”. He replied, “No, my son. As the journey got delayed, I ate the two fruits that I brought with me.”
Going inside I prepared four dosas and served them with pickles. Saying, “you please eat”, I went out and made a couple of calls and returned. When I returned, I found that he had finished the Tiffin and was sitting with a few papers in his hand. There was a photo of his deceased son. The boy was handsome and young. Maybe 22 years. My eyes moistened.
“He is my only son. Those who were born before him died due to various other causes. He was the only one we have. Mahesh was his name. He studied well and got a job. Assuring us that he will take care of us and we would get over all hardships he took up the job. On a fateful day, he was involved in a road accident while crossing the road. Died on the spot. Not wishing to take compensation in the name of the deceased son we were initially reluctant. But day by day, I am becoming weak and my wife too is not doing well. With your father’s insistence, I came here. Saying my son will help, he sent me with this letter”, he concluded.
“Fine. It’s late now. Take rest”. Saying this I too slept.
Next morning, we got ready, had coffee at home and started. Finishing breakfast on the way, we reached the Office address mentioned in the documents. “Anand, I will take care of the rest. You attend to your office work” said Ramayyagaru. “No issue. I have taken leave for today”, I replied. Being with him I got the compensation paid to him. “Thank you, dear son. My wife is alone at home and I will go back home”, said the old man. “Come, I will drop you at the bus-stand and see you off.” I took him to the bus-stand, got him a ticket, bought a few fruits to eat on the way.
He said with joy in his eyes, he said, “Anandbabu, taking leave for my sake you helped me a lot. Soon after going home I will narrate everything to your father and thank him too.”
Smiling and holding his hands I explained, “I am not your friend’s son Anand. I am Aravind. You came to the wrong address. That Anand’s house is another 2 km away. You were already tired and I didn’t have the heart to tell you the truth. I called the number in your letter and enquired. His wife said that Anand had gone out of town on some work. I called your friend and told him too. He felt very sad. Once I assured him that I will take care he felt good. The loss you have suffered is irreparable. But I felt that I should help you. That I did it gives me the greatest pleasure.” As the bus moved, holding my hands Ramayya left with tears of gratitude in his eyes. “God bless you, my child”, were his parting words. That is enough for me, I thought. My father passed away fifteen years earlier. Now looking at Ramayyagaru I felt my father has returned.
Looking up at the sky I thought my father must be somewhere there. “Dad, did you come in this form to check my progress in life! Sending me a letter, were you testing me whether I would help or not? Born to a great father like you, as a son I have performed my duty. Are you happy?” Tears of joy flooded my eyes.
“Have an intention to help.
Nature will work out the way.”

A student studying in Switzerland observes:
While studying in Switzerland, I rented a house near the school. The landlady Kristina is a 67-year-old single old lady who had worked as a teacher in a secondary school before she retired.
Switzerland’s pension is very good, enough to not worry her about food and shelter in her later years. However, she actually found “work” – to take care of an 87-year-old single old man.
I asked if she was working for money. Her answer surprised me: “I do not work for money, but I put my time in the ‘time bank’, and when I cannot move in my old age, I could withdraw it.”
The first time I heard about this concept of “time bank”, I was very curious and asked the landlady more. The original “Time Bank” was an old-age pension program developed by the Swiss Federal Ministry of Social Security. People saved the ‘time’ taking care of the elderly when they were younger, and when they were old, ill or needed care could withdraw it. Applicants must be healthy, good at communicating and full of love. Every day they have to look after the elderly who need help. Their service hours will be deposited into the personal ‘time’ accounts of the social security system.
She went to work twice a week, spending two hours each time helping the elderly, shopping, cleaning their room, taking them out to sunbathe, chatting with them. sitting with them.
According to the agreement, after one year of her service, “Time Bank” will calculate her working hours and issue her a “time bank card”. When she needs someone to take care of her, she can use her “time bank card” to “time to withdraw “time and time interest”. After the information verification, “Time Bank” will assign other volunteers to take care of her at the hospital or her home.
One day, I was in school and the landlady called and said she fell off the stool when she was wiping the window. I quickly took leave and sent her to the hospital for treatment. The landlady broke her ankle and needed to stay in bed for a while. While I was preparing to apply for leave to take care of her,
the landlady told me that I need not worry about her. She had already submitted a withdrawal request to the “Time Bank”. Sure enough, in less than two hours “Time Bank” sent a nursing worker to come and care for the landlady.
In the following month, the care worker took care of the landlady every day, chatted with her and made delicious meals for her. Under the meticulous care of the carer, the landlady soon recovered her health. After recovering, the landlady went back to “work”. She said that she intends to save more time in the “time bank” while she is still healthy.
Today, in Switzerland, the use of “time banks” to support old age has become a common practice. This not only saves the country pension expenses but also solves other social problems. Many Swiss citizens are very supportive of this kind of old-age pensions. The survey conducted by the Swiss pension organization shows that more than half of Swiss people also want to participate in this type of old-age care service. The Swiss government also passed legislation to support the “Time Bank” pension scheme.
At present, the number of “empty-nest old people” in Asian countries is increasing and it has gradually become a social problem. Switzerland style “time bank” pension may be a good option for us too.
What an interesting concept….. hope it gets adapted all over the world soon!!!

What is LIFE?
A rich man looked through his window and saw a poor man picking something from his dustbin.
He said: Thank GOD I’m not poor;
The poor man looked around and saw a naked man misbehaving on the street.
He said: Thank GOD I’m not mad;
The mad man looked ahead and saw an ambulance carrying a patient.
He said: Thank GOD I’m not sick;
Then a sick person in the hospital saw a trolley taking a dead body to the mortuary..
He said: Thank GOD I’m not dead;
Only a dead person cannot thank God.
Why don’t we thank GOD today for all our blessings and for the gift of life & for another beautiful day?
What is LIFE?
To understand life better, we have to go to 3 places:
At the Hospital, we understand that nothing is more beautiful than HEALTH.
In Prison, we see that FREEDOM is the most precious thing.
At the Cemetery, we realize that life is not worth any material thing. The ground that we walk today will be our roof tomorrow.
Sad Truth: We all come with Nothing and we will go with Nothing.
Let us, therefore, remain humble and be thankful & grateful to God at all times for everything.

Rajesh Khanna’s Aashirwad
Many people would not know that superstar of the millennium, the first superstar Rajesh Khanna aka Kaka purchased the sea-facing magnificent bungalow “Aashirwad”, from Rajendra Kumar, popularly known as Jubilee Kumar in the then Bombay Film Industry who gave 25 silver jubilees in a row while staying in “Dimple”, the earlier name of Aashirwad , a gracious and spacious Bungalow in Bombay’s Carter Road, facing the the wide-open sea.
By instinct and nature Kaka was not an atheist but a sort of an orthodox who always believed in God, a supernatural power that always blessed him.
He would always tell his friends in the industry that there are several, more handsome men, more in height and personality in Bollywood, then how come he’d become a superstar loved and adored by millions of ardent fans globally?
He was skeptical and confused about himself and bore a sort of inferiority complex about him being a star and that was the prime reason that he believed in God. According to him, luck always favored him in his heydays as a superstar for at least two decades in a row.
It is said that when Kaka had first seen the spacious house of Rajendra Kumar at Carter Road, Mumbai’s prime location, he always wanted to have such a splendid house.
There was another hidden reason behind it i.e. it was owned by none other than Jubilee Kumar, the then superstar, and heartthrob of millions.
Kaka had a feeling that Rajendra Kumar became Jubilee Kumar, giving 25 hits in a row that became silver jubblies while staying in this Bungalow, then known as Dimple. And as such it might be a lucky bungalow, absolutely. Therefore his desperate interest in “DIMPLE” git generated tremendously. But for Rajendra Kumar, it was unlucky bungalow as his downfall had started by then. He wanted to sell it as due to his decline at the box office his financial condition was in jeopardy…
Therefore when Rajendra Kumar was facing financial hardships, Rajesh Khanna got an opportunity to fix a deal.
Considering the Bungalow as a lucky one that made Rajendra Kumar Jubilee Kumar, Kaka wasted no time to purchase this house.
It was Hathi Mere Sathi’s, first heavy advance installment that helped Kaka to finalize the deal with Rajendra Kumar.
When the film producer of Hathi Mere Sathi from South approached Kaka to do his film, the latter wasn’t interested to work with animals. But he acted because he was in need of money to buy Rajendra Kumar’s house. Kaka had put a condition that if he was given half of the signing amount in advance, he would do the film. The producer readily agreed as Rajesh Khanna’s popularity those days was on its peak. Rajesh Khanna got Rs 6 lakhs in advance and bought Dimple and later named as Aashirwad.
And undoubtedly Aashirwad gave Kaka name, fame and excessive wealth, till his death.
Though Kaka also confronted the worst period of his life in this house but till Kaka’s unfortunate death it was always dear and the most adored asset of his life.
Rajesh Khanna’s last wish, though not declared officially, was to convert Aashirwad to Super Star Rajesh Khanna Museum. His most loved and adored prized possession was not destined to be so. His family against the latter’s heartiest wishes sold it after his demise. His fans say Kaka’s soul definitely must be haunting this house, which was abruptly and arbitrarily sold against his wishes.
Today there is a multistorey building in place of Aashirwad thus crushing his last hearty wish to turn it into Super Star Rajesh Khanna Museum; the magnificent bungalow which Kaka cherished the most.
Totally humbling !
Prashant had been to Ladakh for a week-long family trip. Their local driver was a 28-year old chap named Jigmet. Jigmet’s family consists of his parents, wife & two small girls!
This was the conversation with Jigmet, during their journey in deep Himalayan Ranges!
Prashant -: At the end of this week tourist season in Ladakh will end. Are you planning to go to Goa, the way Nepali workers from Hotels do?
Jigmet -: No, I am a local Ladakhi, so I won’t go anywhere in winter!
Prashant -: What work will you do in winter?
Jigmet -: Nothing will sit quietly at home (chuckles & winks!)
Prashant -: For six months, up to next April?
Jigmet -: I have one option for working. It’s to go to Siachen!
Prashant: Siachen? What will you do there?
Jigmet -: Work as Loader for Indian Army!
Prashant -: You mean, you will join the Indian Army as Jawan?
Jigmet -: No, I have crossed the age limit to join the Army. This is a contract job for the Indian Army. With my few friends, also drivers, I will travel 265 kilometers to Siachen Base Camp! My medical examination will be done there to check if I am fit enough for this job. If I am declared fit, then Army will issue us uniforms, shoes, warm clothing, helmets, etc, We will have to walk up mountains for 15 days to reach Siachen. There is no motorable road to reach Siachen. We will work there for 3 months!
Prashant -: What work will you do?
Jigmet -: It is of a loader. To carry the load on our back from one Chowky to other in Siachen. All supplies are airdropped there. We do the job of picking it up & carry it to Chowkies!
Prashant -: Why doesn’t the Army use Mules or vehicles for shifting of loads?
Jigmet -: Siachen is a glacier. Trucks or other vehicles will not work there. Ice scooters make too much sound, which will attract attention from enemy around there. Use of vehicle will result in firing from other side! We go out in the middle of the night, generally, around 2 am & pick up loads silently & bring back to barracks. We can’t even use a torch. Mules or horses cannot be used because at the altitude of 18,875 feet, in winter temperature of minus 50 degrees no animal will survive!
Prashant -: How can you lift the load on your back where oxygen levels are low?
Jigmet -: We carry a maximum of 15 kgs at a time & we work maximum for 2 hours in a day. Rest of the time is for recouping!
Prashant -: That is very risky!
Jigmet -: Many of my friends died there. Some of them fell in bottomless crevices. Some got shot down by enemy bullets. The biggest danger we have in Siachen is of frostbites, but it’s rewarding, We are paid Rs 18,000- per month. Since all expenses are taken care of, we can save around Rs 50,000- in these three months. This money is precious for my family, for my daughter’s education & finally, I have a feeling that I am serving the Indian Army, which means my nation!
The value of money & the life we have can be better understood after this exchange!
Do not forget to share this with your children. Let them realize the value of hard-earned money!

One Member From The Christian Community And Another Member From The Muslim Community Complained To A Judge In Punjab, “Why Is Guru Granth Sahib Ji Respected More Than Our Holy Scriptures While All Scriptures Must Be Equally Valued In A Secular Country Like India?”
The Judge Said, “I Will Check And Get Back To You.
But Can You Please Bring Your Respective Holy Scriptures With You Tomorrow?” Next Day, The Judge Asked Both Of Them, “Have You Brought Your Holy Scriptures With You?”
Community Members Replied “Yes”. The Judge Said, ” Show Me”.
The Christian Removed His Holy Scriptures BIBLE From His Cloak And Put It In Front Of The Judge. The Muslim Removed His Holy Scriptures QURAN From His Bag And Put It In Front Of The Judge. The Judge Remained Silent…… After A While, Both Community Members Asked The Judge, “Why Are You Silent?”.The Judge Replied;
“I Have Asked A Gursikh To Bring His Holy Scriptures GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI, After Which I Will Answer Your Question”.
A Little While Later, There Was A Lot Of Noise Outside.
A Few People Were Seen Cleaning And Brushing The Road In Front Of An Arriving Car When the Car Stopped,
A Few People Laid A Carpet Outside The Car Leading To The Court Door Entrance. One Man Came Out Of The Car Holding Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Whilst A Second Came Holding An Umbrella Canopy High Over Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, And A Third Was Doing Chour Sahib Over Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. A Fourth Man Started Leading The Way, Sprinkling Water On The Ground. Whilst This Was Going On, A Few People Had Already Entered The Court Room And Prepared A High Throne With Palki Sahib In Place. Then 8 To 10 Sikhs Entered The Court Room Reciting; ” Satnam Waheguru “, Whilst Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Was Brought In And Placed On The Palki Sahib With Utmost Respect. The Judge Then Looked At Both The Christian And The Muslim Community Representatives Without Saying A Word, They Both Picked Up Their Holy Scriptures And Left.
THIS IS THE IMMENSE RESPECT AND REVERENCE THAT SRI GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI HOLDS. BE PROUD OF OUR AMAZING HERITAGE, AND UPHOLD YOUR GURSIKHI VALUES. THE PRICELESS GURU PARAMPARA IS HIGHLY UPHELD BY OUR SIKH GURUS AND THE FOLLOWERS.
