New Delhi: Reliance Industries is again ready to stir the Indian Mobile market by launching a Rs1000 smartphone with 4G capability which will make a new category for mobile phone users and attract millions of users to its telecom venture Reliance Jio Infocomm.

It is expected that the company would be pricing these new smartphones at Rs 1000 with unlimited voice and video calling facility, besides other digital content.

These new mobile phones would be working on LTE network technology. This company is seeking to win over customers from the rural and tier –III markets who basically use mobile phones for making phone calls. Still 2G feature phones are major chunk of Indian mobile market and the Reliance Company is trying to eat up this share by providing LTE smartphones to those who are not much the tech savvy.

According to a study about 65% of India’s more than one billion phone subscribers still use the feature phones and the cheapest 4G mobile cost around Rs3000.

Reliance has become the first company in India who has given unlimited free voice and video calling and added over 25 million users since 5th September when it first launched its services and became the market leader.

Experts says that tapping those customers who uses feature phones is essential and that can be done by providing new smartphones at lowest prices which Reliance is trying to achieve by providing Rs 1000 mobile phones.

According to the sources the Reliance is currently working on developing two featured mobile phones which would be available at Rs1000 and Rs 1500 and are likely to be launched in January to March 2017. These mobile phones would be just like smartphones but would be lacking touchscreen feature but will easily allow the use of high speed internet to make voice and video calls.
