Rashtriya Veerta Puraskaar of the Government of India to Rakhi Rawat

The Garhwal Hiteshini Sabha, the biggest representative socio-cultural organization of the inhabitants of Garhwal, Uttarakhand living in Delhi and the NCR today felicitated a brave nine-year-old girl of village Dev Kundaai in Pauri Garhwal district with citation and tons of blessings of the entire Uttarakhand community, at Gandhi Peace Foundation.

This brave girl full of valor and high spirits namely Rakhi Rawat saved her younger brother merely 4-year-old from the dreadful jaws of a maneater tiger who was playing outside his house in the Devkundaai Talli village in Pauri Garhwal district recently. She was presented the National Bravery Award on 26th January by the government of India for exhibiting exemplary valor and bravery by fighting with the tiger in her own way and thus saving the precious life of her 4-year-old younger brother.

Sounds exemplary indeed. The Garhwal Hiteshini Sabha also presented a cheque of Rs 5100 to this girl who had come to Delhi from the distant village to acknowledge the prestigious Rashtriya Veerta Puraskaar of the Government of India on the 71st Republic Day of Indian Union along with her parents. Uttarakhand Journalists Forum extends its heartiest greetings and good wishes to both the parents, daughter duo for showing this exemplary bravery. The president of Garhwal Hiteshini Sabha Mohabbat Singh Rana, journalist Satendra Rana, and general secretary Pawan Naithani presented the trophy and Rs 5100 to brave Rakhi Rawat.

Rakhi Rawat’s father is ill as well and needs governmental medical as well as financial support to cure his illness.

Sunil Negi hails from Uttarakhand and is a veteran journalist and author. He is a prolific writer and has carved a name for himself in the media world. He received the 'Golden Achiever Award' in the '90th AIAC Excellence Awards 2019' for his book ''Havoc in Heaven'' based on the tragedy that struck Uttarakhand in which thousands of people lost their lives. He is also the President of Uttarakhand Journalists Forum and majorly writes on Politics, Current Affairs, and Social Issues.
