Mumbai: Metro Rail works may affect power supply on Saturday

There are chances that power supplied to people residing between Andheri (W) and Dahisar (E) could get affected on Saturday night. This is because of the work on the Metro line-2A between Dahisar (E) and DN Nagar in Andheri (W), which will take place from 11 pm on January 26 to 7am on January 27.

The MMRDA officials said that in connection with this work a 110kV pole in lieu of an existing tower in Charkop is being erected. “For this 110kV both circuits of Borivali – Malad power lines of Tata power will be switched off from 11 pm to 7 am,” read a press statement issued by the MMRDA.

In extreme exigency, some power consumers from Kandivali (W), Malad (W), Goregaon (W) and Andheri (W) areas might get affected. There are several lakhs of consumers of both Adani and Tatas from western suburbs on this belt. Power experts claim that in case there is a load on the system then there could be power cuts. At present, the demand for electricity is close to 2800Mw.

“This will not result into power supply interruption as Adani Electricity and TATA power, who are making necessary alternative arrangements,” added the MMRDA statement. This will happen as electricity will be routed through other network lines and controlled accordingly. It will then be supplied to residences and commercial outlets.
