The Narendra Modi Cabinet on Monday approved a proposal for a 10% quota that is to be used to give reservations to economically backward sections of upper caste communities. The quota would require a Constitutional amendment to make it happen.

The Cabinet approval would give the government the go-ahead to explore amendments to Articles 15 and 16 of the Constitution, sources have told Zee Media. However, with only the Budget Session of Parliament left before the elections, it is highly unlikely that the government would be able to get such an amendment passed in time for coming 2019 lok Sabha elections.

However, a bill for the Constitutional amendment is likely to be moved in Parliament on Tuesday.

Sources have said the new quota would have to be implemented in a 50+10 percent formula. This is meant to apply to direct recruitment and for admission in higher educational institutions.

The reservation for the economically backward sections of the upper caste communities cutting across religious lines are the intended beneficiaries of the quota.

The ‘economically backward’ tag would be applicable to ‘upper caste’ families that have an annual income below Rs 8 lakh, own less than five hectares of agricultural land, own homes smaller than 1,000 sqft, own residential plots below 100 square yards in notified municipalities or 200 square in non-notified municipality areas.

However, a bill for the Constitutional amendment is likely to be moved in Parliament on Tuesday.

The union defence minister Rajnath Singh has today announced that the former union minister J. P. Nadda would be the the next working president of Bhartiya Janata Party.

It was the unanimous decision of the entire Parliamentary Board of the Bhartiya Janata Party said Rajnath Singh.

J. P Nadda who was the union health minister in the previous NDA government led by Narendra Modi was not included in the union cabinet in the NDA 2 government and there were speculations about him being sworn in as the full fledged president of BJP, as the sitting BJP chief has been appointed as the home minister of India.

But latest sources reveal that union home minister Amit Shah would continue as the BJP president till the organisational elections take place in two months from now.

The prime minister Narendra Modi, union defence minister Rajnath Singh and all the parliamentary board members were present on ths ocassion.

Rajnath Singh said that under the efficient leadership of Amit Shah the party won with a historic majority at the hustings and therefore he will remain the party president till the organisational elections are completed in December January.

It may be recalled that after the inclusion of Amit Shah in the union cabinet as home minister he has become too busy in official matters and would therefore not be able to devote enough time for the party organisation at the pan India level hence JP Nadda would assist him as the working president of BJP till he is finally elected as the full fledged president after the completion of the organisational elections.

Jay Prakash Nadda is a blue eued boy of Prime minister Narendra Modi and also a close confidante of the BJP supremo Amit Shah.

Apart from the union health minister he had also been the observer of Uttar Pradesh the state which brought miracles for the saffron party at the hustings defeating the mahagath bandhan of BSP, SP, RLD and Congress party.

Lok Sabha session begins. Challenges ahead for PM Modi

1st session of 17th Lok Sabha begins/ pic Ind Tdy

Read Time: 2 minutes

Today is the first day of the parliament session with prime minister Narendra Modi saying that existence of vigilant and active opposition is inevitable for health democracy.

Numbers hardly matter but it’s primarily the viable and vigilant opposition that makes our democracy strong and cohesive added PM Modi on the first day of the parliament session after the formation of the BJP led NDA part 2 government at the centre after winning with historic majority.

Prime minister Modi today underscored the constructive role of the opposition in a healthy democracy as the 17th Lok Sabha started its business. Speaking to reporters he said : the opposition need not bother about the numbers. I hope they will actively participate in the proceedings of the house and speak strongly.

The two days of the first session of Lok Sabha will be dedicated to swearing in of all the newly elected member of parliaments and the speaker’s election will take place on 19th.

About 543 members of parliament will take oath amongst which 257 members including Amit Shah have been elected for the first time. Rest are the second and third time winners.

The prime minister Narendra Modi has lot of challenges this time. Ten important bills are to be passed in parliament and the BJP led NDA is still short of majority for bills to be passed.

The BJP is likely to get required majority in Rajya Sabha in 2020 when majority of the non BJP opposition party members of the upper house are retiring.

The important bills out of total 10 numbers are the much hyped Triple Talaq Bill and the women reservation bill. The issues pertaining to abrogation of article 370 and section 35 A in the context of Jammu and Kashmir, early construction of Ram Temple and implementation of uniform civil code etc are some of important issues raised by BJP during the general elections and has proved successful in begeting the one sided votes nationwide to the saffron party.

The national security issue, strenthening of our defence forces and teaching Pakistan a befitting lesson for its anti India misadventures are also on the BJP’s agenda on which it bagged the confidence of the voters at the pan India level securing a historic majority.

Issues pertaining to employment and giving satisfactory concessions to the famers of the country including remitting their loans also need to be addressed forthwith as people of the country especially the unemployed youths and farmers have pinned high hopes on Narendra Modi government.

The challenges for prime minister Modi are tremendous and several bills of paramount significance are required to be passed in this summer session.

However, the budget coming on 5th July would addresed these twin significant issues of granting employment opportunities and giving farmers more concessions etc , hope the people of the country pinning too much hopes and aspirations on PM Modi.

Meanwhile , the BJP led NDA should be happy that its nearest rival, Congress party could not get the leader of the opposition status nor is the entire non BJP opposition united.

The Congressmen have still not got up out of their shock of tragic defeat and Congress chief Rahul is adamant to resign with no leadership alternative in sight.

Was Hemant Karkare a brutal, inhuman torture machine?

Was Hemant Karkare a brutal, inhuman torture machine? Did he act illegally to prove the theory of Saffron Terrorism? Was he a puppet of the congress party’s political leaders? Did he arrest and inhumanly tortured innocent citizens to falsely implicate them in the theory of Saffron Terrorism?

Sadhvi Pragya’s statements on this have created a political storm. People who suffered because of Saffron Terrorism and people who suffered because of 26/11 have divergent views.

But what is the fact?

I am putting lot of information in front of you to decide. This analysis does not show any political inclination or any religious bias. You read it and you decide.

I have done more than three years of research on 26/11 and I collected a lot of information from various sources. I am writing a blog “Failed Journey of Saffron Terrorism” and the following details are from the same blog.

Home Ministry Under-Secretary Mr. Mani in his book – Hindu Terrorism.

Home Ministry Under-Secretary Mr. Mani has written in his book “Hindu Terrorism”. He has said, one day in 2006 he got a call from the home minister’s office asking him to come to see Home Minister immediately. Since all his seniors were out of the office and he was the senior most officer, he went to the Minister, Mr. Shivraj Patil’s chamber, who was Home Minister. There were two more people in the chamber before Mr. Mani went. One was Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mr. Digvijay Singh and second was a new face to Mr. Mani. Digvijay Singh introduced the second person as Mr. Hemant Karkare, IPS officer from Maharashtra cadre. Mr. Mani was wondering what a Maharashtra cadre IPS officer Karkare doing here with M.P. chief minister? What is the connection?

Slowly these two started a discussion about Saffron Terrorism, a term totally unheard by Mr. Mani earlier. They were talking about a fire and a small blast in the industrial area in Nanded. Apparently, a small scale manufacturing unit had caught fire and there was a small blast of some industrial gas cylinder. Local police had arrested the owner of the unit, named Mr. Kulkarni. The local police had a suspicion that Kulkarni deliberately set the fire to claim insurance. Mr. Mani could not give any inputs on this case because the Home Ministry had never heard of this incidence.

But Digvijay Singh and Karkare were discussing the possibility of converting this fire and the blast as an act of some sort of Saffron Terrorism. At that time, Mani had no idea what “Saffron Terrorism” was. With the conversation going on between Karkare and Digvijay Singh, Mr. Mani understood that Hemant Karkare did try to arrest Kulkarni for Saffron Terrorism but could not find enough evidence to prove the charges against Mr. Kulkarni and they had to let him go. Basically, Karkare was trying to “FIND” evidence to make arrests for Saffron Terrorism.

While all this was going on, home minister Shivraj Patil was sitting in a different area in his office. Being a Home Minister, he was not part of these discussions.

Meaning, UPA government was trying to create a false case on Saffron Terrorism.

No congress party leader has refuted these observations so far. This means Karkare was indeed colluding with Congress leaders to create false charges.

Now let’s check other aspects.

Let’s look into Lt. Colonel Purohit’s arrest

Lt. Colonel Purohit was the active army officer at the time of the arrest. He was not a regular infantry Colonel but was working in the highly sensitive department of Military Intelligence, or popularly known as M.I. The purpose of MI is to gather intelligence within the country and outside the country about the different threat perceptions and neutralize them. It is a very secretive department where only select few are inducted after a thorough invasive background check.

Officers working under this department often have to go deep undercover in the terrorist organization to gather intelligence. This is a very risky job because any small mistake can blow up their cover and they get killed. The undercover officers cannot always choose the “Right” way because, in their world, everything is in the shades of gray. Hence sometimes they may have to cross the lines to earn the trust of the bad people. But they do it for the country.

Their undercover job is so bad that their family never knows where they are, what is their new identity, what is the phone number to call and what is the email to connect. They have no contact with their family for months!!! The family gets the updates from the military only.

Arresting such a decorated and trusted military officer under the changes of terrorism was unbelievable. Arresting a military officer by the civilian authorities is not simple. The local police have to follow the protocols, which are as follows. If the arrest is made outside the military camp then police have to inform military within the stipulated time. If the person of interest is inside the military camp then police have to inform military establishment, give all the details of the case and then Military Police (MP) handover the suspect to the civilian police. In each case, the military would conduct its own internal investigation. But in colonel Purohit’s case, he was detained w/o any warrant (abducted) by Maharashtra ATS headed by Hemant Karkare and military was informed about his arrest after a couple of days.

Colonel Purohit was illegally arrested as follows.

While Colonel Purohit was attending a training course at Panchamarhi, MP, his superior Colonel R. K. Shrivastava issued the travel order for him to go to Delhi on 29th October 2008. Colonel R. K. Shrivastava accompanied him to the Bhopal Airport. But before reaching Bhopal airport, Colonel Shrivastava took away cell phone from Colonel Purohit and did not give him air tickets. It was Colonel Shrivastava who did the check in at the airport. After check in, Colonel Shrivasta told Colonel Purohit that they were going to Mumbai and not to Delhi. After hearing this, Colonel Purohit asked for the cell phone to inform his wife but Colonel Shrivastava threatened him for using the cell phone. As per the military practice, if the travel plan is changed then a new travel order has to be issued. In this case, the earlier order was to reach Delhi but it was changed to Mumbai, and as such, a new order should have been issued but his official travel order was not changed! If it was official business then why so much secrecy?

After reaching Mumbai airport late in the evening, Colonel Purohit was pushed into a private vehicle and was driven to a bungalow in Khandala. Hemant Karkare and his ATS team were waiting there. Hemant Karkare, Colonel Shrivastav, ATS deputy chief Parambir Singh (IPS) and his staff tortured Colonel Purohit beyond third degree and in a very inhuman way for a week. He broke several bones and ruptured several tissues. Finally, on 8th November 2008, Maharashtra ATS formally announced the arrest of Colonel Purohit.

Please watch the video of Colonel Purohit’s wife narrating how her husband was tortured by the ATS team led by Hemant Karkare.

In 2013 Colonel Purohit himself wrote a letter to the Human Rights Commission about the illegal detention and torture and copy of this letter was sent to then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Please see this news clip.

Please read the ACTUAL HANDWRITTEN LETTER written by Colonel Purohit to the Human Rights Commission.
Warning – This letter has a very graphic and disturbing description of the torture hence read it only if you feel comfortable.

Shocking letter by Colonel Purohit to Human Rights Commission exposes how he was tortured

No one from NHRC or PMO cared to investigate the charges leveled by Lt. Colonel Purohit. Why????

Otherwise very active NHRC chose to keep quiet.

Please note, in his letter Colonel Purohit says, at one point of time, his boss Colonel R. K. Shrivastava and Hemant Karkare talked about parading his mother, wife, and daughter naked in front of everyone. They also talked about bombing his house to kill his entire family. This was of course done to terrorize Colonel Purohit so as to get his confession but this shows how low Colonel R. K. Shrivastava and Hemant Karkare had scooped! Really shameful.

It did not end just with illegal arrest and torture. Karkare raided Lt. Col. Purohit’s house and announced, he recovered RDX from his house in Pune.

Karkare claimed that Lt. Col. Purohit stole the RDX from the military stock.

Now realize the situation here with your common sense. Lt. Col. Purohit is a highly trained military officer who knows about explosive. Would he keep a highly explosive material like RDX at his home where his family lives? Will he risk his neighbors and community, which is mainly Hindu? And he was arrested for supporting Saffron Terrorism?

Army refuted the charges of stealing of RDX from its stock saying Indian military does not use RDX hence they don’t carry any stock.

Then Hemant Karkare changed his story and said, this RDX was seized in a raid conducted by Lt. Col. Purohit in Kashmir and he stole some quantity from this lot. The same was used in the bombing of Samjhauta express, Malegaon bombing and rest was seized from his house in Pune.

Military again said, that raid in Kashmir was a joint operation and many military officers, local police officers were in that raid. It was not just Lt. Col. Purohit that was present and every gram of seized RDX is accounted for and there is no missing quantity.

What does this show? Was Karkare fabricating the evidence to implicate Lt. Col Purohit?

If this is true then it is completely deplorable. Treating an army officer in this way is disheartening. It is a shame and disgrace to the police uniform.

Karkare is dead but Prarambir Singh and Col. R. K. Shrivastav are still alive. They must be arrested based on Col. Purohit’s charges of torture and must be investigated.

Please note, Sadhvi Pragya too has leveled similar charges of torture against Karkare.

Now the following are my views.

If multiple people level charges on Karkare about false cases, illegal arrests, collecting illegal evidence and brutal torture charges then it must be investigated.

If these charges are found correct then his Ashok Chakra medal, his status of heroic death, his pension and all his medals must be stripped posthumously.

Similar punishment must be given to all the other police officers who were involved in the torture.

Col. R. K. Shrivastav should also be court marshaled and punished.

No one is above the law and no one should be treated softly because they died in action or they are rich and powerful.

Kishor Katti.

BJP and TMC leadership should show brave heart to shun violence in West Bengal

West Bengal Governor deliberating with HM Amit Shah in his office at North block, accquainting him about WB violence and the latest situation of the state, though he termed it as a courtsey call.

Read Time: 4 minutes

The general elections are over and a new government is also in place at the centre though having repeated for the second time in succession with charismatic Narendra Modi as its prime minister again.

Despite all this, the political confrontation and subsequent voilence with number of killings of political workers of both TMC and BJP in West Bengal is going on unabated.

Never ever in the recent past has such a strong violence sequence experienced in any state of the country though naxalite violence and terror deaths are the order of the day in strife torn Kashmir and various naxalite infested states of the country viz Gadh Chiroli in Maharashtra, Jharkand, Daantvada Chattisgarh and in Odissa etc.

The violence of West Bengal with the use of lethal weapons and bombs by political workers and leaders of both BJP and TMC to wrest power from each other and incessant accusations against each other involving the West Bengal CM and the BJP chief Amit Shah even prime minister had hyped the election in West Bengal with the print and electronics media repeatedly showing the violence .

The Bhartiya Janata Party which had merely two MPs after 2014 elections has invaded the strong hold of ruling TMC and wrested 18 seats from Mamata Bannerji’s party with increase in its vote share to 40%.

This has infact made her extremely angered and furious. There was the time when Bengal was ruled by communists for more than three decades with veteran late Jyoti Basu as the longest serving chief minister.

The CPM led left front government under Jyoti Basu ruled the state for protracted 3 decades .

TMC’s Mamata Bannerjee wrested power from the CPM and is the chief minister of West Bengal for the last ten years.

Mamata deedi as she is fondly addressed by one and all, even prime minister Narendra Modi has casted serious aspersions on the prime minister during the election campaigning and even went to the extent of saying that she will send her the ladoos of the dust of West Bengal to which the prime minister responded in all humility saying that he is humbly waiting for her mud ladoos.

Today even after the completion of the elections in West Bengal violence between the TMC and BJP workers is still going unabated.

The situation has deteriorated to such an aweful extent that the state’s governor Kesri Nath Tripathi has also expressed his serious concern and regret over the increasing incidents of killings of political workers through hurling of bombs saying that the situation has warranted the intervention of the central government indicating that if the violence and killings are not stopped in the state he may even think of recommending for imposition of president’s rule in the state. He also met the union Home Minister Anit Shah to post him about the latest violence and kilkings of BJP workers in the state. On being asked by mediamen he however termed it as a mere courtsey call.

Meanwhile the former TMC MP, now in Bhartiya Janata Party and Mamata’s arch rival Mukul Roy has shot a letter to the union home minister Amit Shah accusing the state chief minister Mamata Benerjee aka Deedi for instigating clashes in North 24 Parganas, Sandesh Khali on Saturday where three people belonging to BJP died.

Mukul Roy said there is complete anarchy and chaos in the state where the state machinery and the police force are being pre strategically misused to kill the BJP workers.

Mukul Roy demanded registration of a First information Report against the West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee for instigating violence in the state.

Roy also demanded investigation into the violence by anti terror agency NIA.

The blame game between the TMC and the BJP continued after the Saturdays Basirhaat killings.

The West Bengal chief minister Mamata Bannerjee on the other hand blamed the ruling BJP of lynching the TMC workers and assured the populace that she is fully committed to rescue the minorities in her state from the alleged attacks of Hindu chauvinists even if she has to lose power.

She said that she has been struggling for decades and she never longed for power.

Sheasked the people : should she drive muslims out of the state? She will never do so even if she has to lose power and the seat of the chief minister ?

It may be recalled that approximately more than 40 workers of Trinamool Congress and BJP has died in violence and clashes during and after the elections in Bengal.

The deads include people from the minority as well as majority communities.

However, time has come now that both the BJP and the Trinamool Congress should shun violence in West Bengal and pave the way for the peace, tranquility and communal harmony to prevail.

The laws of the land and our constitution has no place for violence and killings in the society.

The political leadership of both, BJP and Trinamool Congress should give priority to the state’s overall welfare, development and well being of the people, instead of involving themselves in the practice of sheer vandetta.

Democracy believes in peaceful and constitutional change of power through mandate and the peoples’ mandate demands peace, tranquility, harmony, amity and brotherhood to prevail.

It’s finally the peaceful environment that can guarantee the safety and security of the electorates thereby pedalling the state on the path of progress and prosperity.

Since now the BJP led NDA has acknowleged a landslide mandate including 18 seats and 40% of the large vote share in West Bengal and power at the centre for the second term in succession, it should exhibit a large heart by delivering to the people of the state most earnestly and with transparency instead of keeping the confrontation alive with the government of West Bengal led by TMC chief Mamata Banerjee.

After all prime minister Narendra Modi has said in several of his post election thanks giving public meetings across India that even those who were opposed to him during the elections are his friends now, not foes and from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, all are one.

Then why the confrontation with political adversary? Why not to show a broad heart and perspective ? What’s your take friends?

Antony Committee to find new working president of AICC to assist Rahul Gandhi to revitalise party organisation. Sachin and Gehlot’s name on top of the list

Read Time: 4 minutes

IN view of the extremely bad defeat of the Congress party at the hustings especially under the sole leadership of Rahul Gandhi, the Gandhi scion who has tendered his resignation in the CWC meeting though not accepted with a unanimous voice and everybody present there exhibited their full confidence on Rahul’s leadership, the latter is still adamant to resign and as such a new formula is being devised in the party to find a viable and strong leader who can assist the party president as the AICC WORKING President.

A committee under the leadership of the former defence minister and CWC member AK Antony is deliberating today, on Wednesday to find a suitable Congressman who is acceptable to all and could take over the cudgels of the party as its working president in order to assist Rahul Gandhi as well.

It may be recalled that the Congress party, despite the best efforts of Rahul Gandhi at the pan India level and his charismatic sister and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi’s extensive election campaigning the Congress party could not fare well and reduced itself to merely 52 seats in the Lok Sabha as compared to massive 303 of BJP and 338 of the BJP plus NDA partners.

In the previous election of 2014 the Congress had merely 44 seats. The party’s position is so pathetic that it is technically not applicable to seek the status of the leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha.

The Congress party has never been in such a politically aweful condition in the past.

Though its also true that during 1984, the BJP had only two MPs in Lok Sabha but that was due to the assasination of late prime minister Indira Gandhi.

What is most worrisome factor for the Congress party is the fact that while it has defeated the BJP in three hindi heartland states few months ago in Rajasthan, MP and Chattisgarh but in the 2019 general election it could not gear up further, rather the situation was back to square one as was in 2014 elections thus giving no seats to Congress in these states.

The Modi charisma and vote for Modi for national security and the impact of post Pulwama factor has washed the Congress party to its historical low thus compelling Congress chief Rahul Gandhi to take the entire responsibility on his head and resign.

However, the Antony committee on the unanimity of CWC is not ready to accept his resignation but trying to appoint a permanent working president to revitalise the party organisation nationally in coordination with the party chief Rahul Gandhi.

The reliable sources reveal that there are several names doing the rounds in the political corridors of Congress in Delhi viz Sachin Pilot, the deputy chief minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot, chief minister of Rajasthan and former AICC Genl Secretary, Jyotiraditya Scindia, General Secretary and Western UP Incharge and Priyanka Gandhi, GS and incharge of eastern UP.

Other names doing the rounds are Jairam Ramesh, sr journo and Congress leader, Punjab CM.Captain Amrinder Singh and Digvijay Singh.

It is learnt that amongst all the name of forty one year old Sachin Pilot is on the top as he is not only an able organisor whose hard work in Rajasthan for several years has led the party defeat BJP badly and enabled Congress’s return to power.

Moreover being a youthful leader and son of the the late former union minister Rajesh Pilot, Sachin Pilot had to compromise and give the leadership of the state to Ashok Gehlot being the senior leader whereas his contribution to the party in Rajasthan was unparalleled that led to party’s overallvictory.

His image and aura as an energetic well read youth leader also suits to the temperament of Congress chief Rahul Gandhi with whom he jas been associated for the last two decades.

On the other hand an able organisor and a senior most leader Ashok Gehlot has been greatly instrumental in playing a vital role in assisting Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi for years at the pan India level as general secretary of the party and is in the good books of both Rahul and Sonia Gandhi but being the chief minister of the state and well versed in the Rajasthan politics his candidature seems to be weak as Antony or the party high command would not like him to disturbed from Rajasthan.

Priyanka Gandhi’s name would not be considered as there are cases against her husband in Enforcement directorate and she is Rahul’s sister.

In case her name comes up there will again be controversy about dynastic perpetuation and the Bhartiya Janta Party would rake the issue of her husband’s involvement in various alleged money laundering cases as well as the tirade of dynastic rule.

Jyotiraditya Scindia is not capable as the party’s performce in UP has been at its lowest and Kamalnath, his political adversary and Digvijay Singh as well will create obstacles in his way.

Reliable sources indicate the the name of Sachin Pilot is on the top of the list for the Working President’s post of AICC to assist Rahul Gandhi and infuse a new sense of confidence and energy in Congress party after the most shameful defeat in the general elections.

The name of Captain Arvinder Singh is however also in the race but being the state CM there are little chances of his being disturbed and displaced for elevation as the AICC working president.

The supreme court of India has strongly criticized and rapped the Uttar Pradesh police and the government for showing extreme hurry and desperation in arresting journalist Prashant Kanojia while hearing the Habeas Corpus petition filed by the wife of arrested journalist Jagisha Arora.

The apex court granted immediate bail to the arrested scribe and directed the UP government to release him on bail forthwith, subject to the final results of the on going investigations. The jurists said has anybody ever heard of such arrests for tweets ? How can the freedom of speech and expression be gagged in a democratic society?

The court has however also said that the journalists or anybody using the social media platforms should think himself/ herself as responsible citizens, exercise restraint and avoid passing or writing derogatory remarks against anyone especially without corroboration or evidence.

However, while passing the bail orders the court has not taken the tweets of Prashant Kanojia under consideration but issued clear instructions that no derogatory remarks should be written or tweeted against anybody in social media.

It also asked the state police to carry on the investigations but Kanojia should be immediately released on bail.

It may be recalled that apart from Prashant Kanojia, who has been charged under section 500 and 61 of the IPC for his derogatory on line comments against the UP CM and posting a woman’s vedio casting aspersions on Yogi Aditya Nath and subsequently arresting him, two other journalists, one Channel News Head of Nation Live and its editor Shukla have also been arrested and two other employees who absconded employees are being searched around for arrests for incessantly airing the vedio and the related news item.

The studio of Nation Live in sector 65 Noida has also been sealed.

There had been protests at Press Club of India yesterday by four media organisations terming the UP police action as derogatory, uncalled for and authoritarian to muzzle free speech and media freedom.

Scribe Prashant Kanojia’s wife has complained how the UP police had arbitrarily arrested her husband from their Delhi house in a huff and arrogant manner as if he is a hardened criminal.

I have visited good number of countries abroad during my five year tenure and to whichever country I visited I was proud to hear about the praise of Indians living there.

I never came across about any complaint of any Indian during my visit rather Indians were lauded for their affableness and finest contribution.

India feels proud of all of you. Prime minister Narendra Modi expressed these words while addressing the Indian community in Colombo Sri Lanka today amid Modi Modi n Jai Shri Ram sloganeering hailing the prime minister.

Prime minister Narendra Modi after his brief address went to the crowd and jubilantly shook hands and accepted the greetings of maximum number of Indians curious to see him in their midst in Colombo Sri Lanka.

Addressing the curious and jubilant Indian community, prime minister Modi lauded the Indian electorates at home for voting in massive numbers, despite the scorching heat thus giving him and his government a clear and transparent mandate.

He said India for the very first time after independence witnessed the maximum number of voting percentage and was privileged to elect maximum numbers of women as members of Parliament.

Modi added: We as Indians should celebrate and appreciate our democracy as it’s not a system but a Sanskaar, a heritage brought forward by our ancestors.

India’s democracy is associated with Sanskaar it’s not a system he added. He said that in Indian democracy there are political differences during the elections but after counting is finished all are one, irrespective of ideological or political differences.

Entire India from Kashmir to Kanyakumari becomes united and cohesive. Now we are all one.

We have to work for the well being of 130 crore Indians. We have to make India strong, powerful and a progressive nation through our unified efforts.

Appreciating the Indians living and working abroad prime minister Narendra Modi said that even the Indian running a shop or involved in business in South Africa or other foreign countries think on same wave length as the prime minister of India.

Prime minister Narendra Modi is the first PM in the world to have visited Sri Lanka after the dreaded Easter attack claiming 250 lives.

This was the one day visit of PM Modi after his two days Maldives visit where he addressed the Maldives parliament and strongly condemned global terrorism and urged upon all the nations of the globe to come together to fight this menace with a heavy hand.

The Hockey Olympian and former Captain of Indian Hockey team, MP and minister of minority affairs during the prime ministership of PV Narsinha Rao, Aslam Sher Khan has urged the Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi to give the cudgels of Congress party in his hand for two years as its president if he thinks, he( Rahul)is not able to take on the responsibilty.

Aslam Sher Khan assures Rahul Gandhi that he will leave no stone unturned to make sure that the party scores an equilizer against the BJP in this two year stipulated time frame.

In a letter written to the Congress party chief Rahul Gandhi former Hockey Oympian Aslam Sher Khan has said that I feel there is a sense of great despondency amongst the rank and file of the Congress after the results of the 2019 general elections.

However in the true sporting spirit I believe that we should shed our apprehensions about the future of the party and instead focus our minds and body to revitalise the party in the next five years.

He adds that the party leaders should take lessons from their actions n constructive fashions and prepare themselves to play as underdog.

Fully agreeing with the sentiments of Rahul Gandhi to resign from the party presidentship in the CWC meeting saying that it is not necessary that a Gandhi should be the party chief and not holding him responsible for the party’s debacle saying that Rahul Gandhi did his best at the hustings, Aslam Sher Khan said it is however the preogative of the Gandhi family scion n party to accept his resignation or not but as a dedicated and experienced Congressman he ( Aslam Sher Khan) in all humility is ready to offer his services as the Congress party chief for two years in order to resurrect and rejuvenate the Congress party.

After two years he will resign on his own Aslam Sher Khan wrote in his letter to Rahul Gandhi.

Aslam Sher Khan further writes that his decision comes in view of his experience gained during his long stint as an international hockey player and as a politician.

Mentioning about the loss of confidence of the minorities of the country in Congress party at the time of demolition of the Babri Masjid in 1992, International Hockey player, Oympian Hockey winner n minister of minority affairs during PV Narsimha Rao’s tenure, Aslam Sher Khan writes in the letter that after the demolition of Babri Masjid when the Congress party lost the confidence of minorities he was called by the then prime minister PV Narsimha Rao who requested me to join his council of ministers as minister of minority affairs, a part of Prime Minister’s Office.

With a very limited time left before the election, he approached the minorities at the pan India level and contained the erosion of support of minorities towards the Congress party.

He added that the Congress party though could not form the government but brought 140 seats then.

According to Aslam Sher Khan Mr. Rao had later on regretted saying that it would have been better had he included him in the cabinet two years ago.

Terming as BJP’s massive victory with 303 seats un Lok Sabha and absense of the viable opposition as grave injustice to the nation’s parliamentary democratic values, Hockey Oympian Aslam Sher Khan said it’s indeed a matter of grave concern for the Congress party.

He added that he had been airing his views and concerns from time to time by writing letters to the party leadership in order to revitalise the Congress with an urge to arouse collective decision and debate with the party. I am doing it again at this critical junction he added.

The need of the hour is to secure an equalizer against the BJP in order to bring back the Congress party back to the grass roots and into the hearts and minds of common masses once again says Aslam Sher Khan.

He concludes the letter asking Congress chief Rahul Gandhi : If you place your trust and confidence in me then I assure you that I will leave no stone unturned and make sure that the party scores the equalizer in two years time.
