Many obese women think that little to no clothing is available to fit their curves. As a result, they end up choosing the wrong outfit for their figure. So here are some tips and tricks which will prevent you from committing any more fashion faux pas.

Rule #1

Know what suits you best!

  1. It is always better to avoid horizontal stripes and disproportionate patterns. Such patterns highlight your body that you may be trying to hide. Therefore, solid colors are a much safer choice for a slimmer look.
  2. The safest and elegant color for your body type is black. In black color outfit, all look very slim and flattering. If you don’t like the black color then it is wise to stick to darker colors because brighter/lighter colors are less effective at camouflaging certain trouble areas.
  3. If you are fond of patterns, then go for vertical stripes that follow the body length and elongate it rather than cutting it off just like horizontal stripes /patterns.

Rule #2

Invest more in proper undergarments!

  1. According to a survey many women wear the incorrect bra size in which your upper body appears heavy. Therefore, chose a good store where you can find good professionals who can help you get the correct size and fitting.
  2. The next essential thing is wearing a proper shapewear under your outfit. This helps in camouflaging your extra flesh and makes you look slimmer and gives a better posture.

Rule #3

Flaunt Your Shape!

  1. It is advisable to avoid big fabrics and tent type dresses. It’s a very common perception that wearing oversized clothing covers the heavy body. But actually such outfits accentuate the features you are trying hard to hide. Therefore, always go for proper fitting and not oversized tops.
  2. While choosing bottom wear, make sure that it fits you well. Too big pants hide the shape of your lower body and make you look bulky. So, it is essential to get a nice pair of jeans that give you a perfect fitting. One of the best options is a boot-cut pant that is slightly wider at the bottom providing your hips and thighs a proportionate look.
  3. If you are fond of wearing skirts, then pencil skirts are a great choice. It highlights the natural curvature of your body. It helps your hips/thighs look more balanced like boot-cut jeans.
  4. If you want to wear a dress then always go for an A-line or Empire style dress. These styles accentuate your curvaceous body while camouflaging your tummy, thighs, or butt. The free-flowing lower half of the dress is much more flattering as compared to other fitted type outfits that display every bulge or imperfection of your body.
  5. Another option is a wrap dress, which is considered a universally flattering style for most body types.

Rule #4

Right accessories are necessary.

  1. If belts are your obsession, then always opt for a wide belt (not a skinny belt). It helps hide your tummy if that is a problem area for you.
  2. Beautiful and unusual accessories like large, bold jewelry are versatile and make others blind to judge a weight gain or loss.
  3. Similarly, a big or large size handbag bag helps you look smaller, as it does not look tiny next to you.

Rule #5

Flattering footwear is a must.

  1. In general, footwear that stops at your ankle or have ankle straps will make your legs look shorter and cut off the smooth lines of your body. Instead, go with some tall boots or ballet flats.
  2. And of course, heels make everyone’s legs look great.
