The bad conditions of the ill-fated roads and the ongoing monsoons have led to regular landslides creating havoc in Uttarakhand with fatal accidents occurring every third-day claiming several lives.

As a sequel to these mishappenings, a fatal accident occurred in NH 94 abruptly killing three persons on the spot and grievously injuring six others.

Those killed and injured were all Kaawariyas who were heading for Rishikesh after fetching pious Ganga Jal ( water of the Ganges) The highway on which this accident occurred due to the fatal accident was a Kacha road with inconvenient traffic passage.

According to sources, the accident occurred near the Kunjapuri temple and all the injured have been admitted to the Narendra Nagar hospital in Tehri Garhwal district.

The killed and injured, 9 Kaanwariyas in all ( three dead and six grievously injured) were from Haryana who was returning after fetching the Ganga water from high altitude Gaumukh, the original point of the Ganges that starts from the melting of the Gaumukh glacier.

The fatal tragedy occurred today morning. While the Kanwariyas were traveling in a Max vehicle heading for Rishikesh a huge boulder from the top of the mountains fell on the Max killing 3 of them on the spot and injuring three others.

Max has been completely damaged. A motorbike too was damaged in this accident which came under the front wheels of the vehicles.

Max badly smashed due to falling off a boulder over it this morning at NH 94 killing 3 Kanwariyas and injuring 6 others at Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand.

Similarly, on Rishikesh Chamba Road a car with 5 passengers on board met with a fatal accident killing two commuters and severely injuring three other occupants.

Fatal road accidents have become a common feature in Uttarakhand hills claiming hundreds of lives till date. However, it seems that no concrete efforts are being carried out by the concerned departments to stop these tragedies. Every other day we come across newspapers and electronics channels which carry news of new tragedies taking place in these hilly regions.

    Omg this is so sad…
People going on pilgrimage suddenly meeting their end like this.
The roads are narrow & slippery , driving beyond speed limit on hills, over taking and even maybe drunk drivers.
I have noticed in many places on hills that the roads for climbing and getting down are seperate. This can avoid accidents as there is only one way traffic.
The picture clearly shows that the accident was quite big….
