In a weird incident, a fart disrupted the proceedings in a Kenyan regional assembly.

The speaker had to adjourn the proceedings. The speaker adjourned the session when a pungent smell had spread in the house.

Juma Awuor, a member of the County Assembly (MCA) was on the floor discussing when the speaker interrupted. Nairobi Wire reported the following about the presiding speaker Edwin Kakach, “Kakach’s attention had reportedly been drawn to a group of male MCAs who were pointing fingers at each other over the suffocating fart.” Julius Gaya, an MCA addressed the speaker, “Honourable Speaker, one of us has polluted the air and I know who it is.”

“I am not the one. I cannot do such a thing in front of my colleagues.” This was retorted by the member accused of farting by Julius Gaya. BBC Africa quoted the speaker, “We cannot continue sitting in an environment that smells bad.” To clean the air the speaker had announced a ten-minute break and had requested the members to step outside the chamber.

“Get whatever flavour you will find in any office, whether it’s vanilla or strawberry.” the speaker was quoted by BBC Africa. The speaker had reportedly summoned the staff to get air fresheners to clean up the air.

“Life Begins at 90”, a documentary based on Ray Woolley’s life, is to be shown at the Bosnia-Herzegovina film festival in the month of September.

Ray Woolley belongs to Port Sunlight which is in northwest England. Ray Woolley now lives in Cyprus. Ray was a radio operator in world war second.

Ray has successively broken the two previous records that he had held in 2017 and 2018. This time when he dove in, he broke his previous record of being underwater for 44 minutes at 40.6 meters. The event organizers confirmed that this time he dove to a depth of 42.4 meters for 48 minutes. Ray and the other divers spend some time and sat on the hull of the submerged ship. Fishes and a couple of turtles swam by them as they sat there.

“It’s just unbelievable. I’ve been diving now for 59 years and these are the sort of dives that you remember because there are so many divers with you,” Ray said after completing the dive with the 47 other divers who had dived with him. “If I can still dive and my buddies are willing to dive with me I hope I can do it again next year,” Ray told Reuters.

He dove in Larnaca which is a popular dive site. It is here that a cargo vessel named Zenobia had sunk. Zenobia was carrying trucks in it. The event was organized by the Larnaca municipality and the town’s tourism board.

Second world war veteran Ray Woolley turned 96 on the 28th August. “I refuse to accept the fact that I’m getting old,” Woolley is heard saying in the trailer.

Lakhpat Singh says tiger cubs see humans as prey since beginning

Killer of 53 man-eaters' Lakhpat Singh says that tiger's pub see human beings as their prey since beginning

Read Time: 3 minutes

The incessant tiger and leopard attacks in Uttarakhand has compelled the wildlife department and hunters to study the mindset of these carnivorous who instead of searching for domestic prey, are on a daily prowl for human lives.

The situation has taken such a critical and worrisome turn that almost every alternate day, cases of maneater killings are reported from various parts of Uttarakhand especially from Chamoli, Pauri, Bageshwar, and Almora districts.  In Uttarakhand, maneaters and humans conflict have been estimated as the highest in the country and the gravity of the situation can be assessed from the fact that during the last 17 years, i.e. after the Himalayan state gaining separate statehood about 650 or more people have fallen prey to these predators and about 3100 grievously injured.

The trend still continues with incidents of fatal maneater killings reported every alternate day from various regions of Garhwal and Kumaon divisions with the wildlife and the forest department drawing a sorry figure. While the Uttarakhand High Court has passed strict orders not to kill the predators come what may, at the same time it has stated that the forest department can use tranquilized guns to catch these carnivores and trap them in iron cages later to be released in distant jungles.

Lakhpat Singh Rawat credited for killing 53 maneater leopards and tigers in the jungles of Uttarakhand has recently concluded a survey about the behaviors of these maneaters who are becoming a great threat to human lives in Uttarakhand. Lakhpat Singh who is very well versed with the jungles of Uttarakhand states that the population of tigers in Uttarakhand is pretty good but they were badly disturbed by losing their hideouts in jungles due to construction activities, sound pollution and the immense dearth of animal prey. The wide-scale migration from villages has only worsened matters.

His research states that the overgrown grass of Lanterns and other herbs that grows fast and tall and available near the villages have become a safe place for these leopards and tigers to hide and take refuge. It is easy for them to keep an eye on human prey from here. On getting a suitable opportunity, they grab the women who work in agricultural fields, children on way to schools or senior citizens who pass through the isolated roadsides. There had been several incidents of these predators literally entering the isolated houses and grabbing children in their dreaded jaws, dragging them several meters and then devouring them at a lonely jungle spot.

These predators usually attack in dim light and at dusk. The newly born cubs live with their mothers under the protection of these Lantern shrubs and other tall grasses outside the village vicinity in agricultural fields. They view humans as their prey because the domestic animals are nonexistent in these hilly areas, majorly due to migration from villages. So when they grow up they target human beings than the domestic animals thus posing a direct threat to human lives in the Uttarakhand villages. In Uttarakhand out of 500 tigers and leopards, about 150 have been declared as maneaters.

Until 1944 the then wildlife writer and a professional hunter Jim Corbet had killed about 90 maneaters in Rudra Prayag, Pauri Garhwal, and in the Kumaon division to rid the Himalayan region of Garhwal of these maneaters who had by then killed more than 125 people in Uttarakhand.

Chopper crashed because its blades got entangled in electric cable

Rubbles of helicopter and dead bodies in a gorge after hitting electric cables in Uttarkashi today killing three crew members

Read Time: 2 minutes
Uttarakhand is a hilly area.
Chopper accidents usually occur here because of a technical snag or inclement weather. There had been quite a few choppers crashes in Uttarakhand in the past.
During  2013’s ecological disaster, six members on board an Army helicopter were killed when they were heading towards Kedarnath to lift the disaster-hit victims, to evacuate them to safer places. The chopper had crashed in Uttarkashi while carrying food and water packets for the calamity hit people of Uttarkashi villages. Prior to the accident, they had saved a good number of people by safely evacuating them from the deadly Kedarnath.
Kedarnath was then full of tales of grief and sorrow as several hundred people had died then at the site due to the overflowing of the Chorabari Taal. It was overflowing several hundred metres above Kedarnath shrine due to massive cloud bursts.
However, this accident in Uttarkashi was because the chopper blades got entangled in the electricity cables. This was due to the chopper hitting the electricity cables while it was coming down for the distribution of relief materials to the inhabitants of the seven villages. After minutely examining the accident this has been duly confirmed by the police and disaster management authorities.
The accident was so fateful that all the three crew members i.e. the pilot Rajneesh Lal, co-pilot, and one more staff were literally burnt as they could not get the opportunity to even open their parachute for an emergency landing. The crew members were really hard lucked. Sounds shocking and scary that the crew members of the choppers who were on a mission to quench the thirst and hunger of victims of the Uttarkashi calamity hit villages of Tikochi, Arakot, Maakuri, etc. had themselves left for their heavenly abode in such a dastardly accident.
The nearby people and the police including the disaster management personnel retrieved the fully burnt bodies of these ill-fated chopper’s crew members. May the Almighty accord peace to the departed souls.

Meanwhile, the chief minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat has announced through a tweet, Rs 15 lakhs financial compensation to each of the deceased crew members bereaved family.

The former Congress chief of Uttarakhand Kishore Upadhyay has welcomed the CM’s decision wholeheartedly and has also urged him to similarly compensate the natural calamity hit people of the state.

Congress misused Rajesh Khanna till the end says his soul brother

Bhupesh Raseen with super star turned then MP in 1992 Rajesh Khanna
Spread the love

Bhupesh Raseen said: When I remember various episodes, then I feel that the Congress Party has not rightly valued the contribution of my brother, “First Super Star, Phenomena & Padma Bhushan”-Rajesh Khanna”.
Bhupesh claims to be the soul brother of the superstar of the millennium. He claims close proximity with Rajesh Khanna aka Kaka. He claims this proximity for more than two decades, till Rajesh breathed his last in his ill-fated Aashirwad bungalow.
It must be remembered that the late superstar of Bollywood turned politician Rajesh Khanna was MP from New Delhi constituency. This is where the president, prime minister, MPs, and top bureaucrats live. Rajesh represented this constituency after defeating BJP’s Shatrughan Sinha.
He represented the constituency from 1992 to 1996 during prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao’s tenure. According to Raseen, Rajesh was thereafter promised the Rajya Sabha seat by the senior party leaders. Congress leaders failed to fulfill their promise. He was outrightly betrayed.
However, despite this open betrayal, Rajesh remained a loyal and committed soldier of Congress party. He had immense reverence and adoration for late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi who brought him into active politics. Rajesh continuously campaigned for the party vigorously from 1991 till his death (2012) in almost all states elections. He managed to get lots of crowds & votes. Wherever Rajesh campaigned the Congress won, whether it was in Bengal, North East, MP, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi or Uttar Pradesh.
Raseen claimed that he accompanied Khanna during the election campaigns for the Congress Party in all the said elections. Raseen further added that just before his death on July 2012, he extensively campaigned in Punjab Legislative Assembly election during January 2012. This was despite not being well. Rajesh knew that he was not going to survive. Raseen said like all other times, they were together campaigning for the party. Accusing the Congress leadership Bhupesh Raseen said: in spite of the time to time promises by Congress president & high command, they did not induct him as an MP from Rajya Sabha.
Raseen disclosed that in late 2011, Rajesh knew that he was not going to survive due to illness. Therefore he wished that Raseen should continue his political legacy. According to him, Rajesh wanted Raseen to contest Lok Sabha election from Amritsar. This was to continue his political legacy. He claimed that Rajesh also told him to work hard for the people of Amritsar as both Rajesh and his soul brother Raseen belonged to Amritsar. Raseen complained that in spite of support from various top Congress high command leaders, at the last moment he was denied a ticket from Amritsar in the 2014 General Elections. Raseen while expressing his grudge against the Congress high command said: I can openly say that Congress has not used “Rajesh Khanna”; but they have definitely misused Rajesh while he was alive.
Revealing a secret not known to many Raseen said that in between other major parties had tried to attract Rajesh and offered for his induction as MP. They also offered him a berth in the cabinet. But Rajesh politely declined the lucrative offers stating that he won’t ditch the Congress party as he is a loyal soldier and would continue to be a Congressman till his death. We both decided to be in Congress in spite of all odds being “TRUE CONGRESSMEN”. Raseen further said that despite all these deceits by the Congress party and despite being denied party ticket from Amritsar, he will remain in Congress party and follow the footsteps of his soul brother, Rajesh Khanna.
Hope one day the much-maligned Congress high command will wake up and support their loyal soldiers. But this seems far-fetched as long as a single-family rule continues in the Congress party..

The CISF personnel deployed at the Taj Mahal here are now training to use a novel weapon, catapults, to tackle the monkey menace there.

Central Industrial Security Force Commandant Braj Bhushan Singh told PTI that the constables are being trained to use ‘gulels’ (catapults) to ward off monkeys from attacking and biting tourists.

“The monkeys have been posing a huge problem here. Many tourists have been injured in monkey attacks. Our jawans are being trained to use catapults to shoo them away,” he said.

A local wildlife activist, armed with the provisions of the Wildlife Act, 1972, however, has come to simians’ defence.

As per the Act, monkeys are protected species and no physical harm can be inflicted on them, said activist Shravan Kumar Singh.

Ved Gautam, a tourist guide, however, said, “We have seen some CISF jawans with catapults, but they have neither harmed monkeys nor used stones to target them.” Agra has been in news due to the simian menace over the last six months.

“The hospitals here almost daily receive at least one serious case of monkey attack. The municipal corporation has failed to find a solution to this menace,” said Mukesh Jain, a functionary of the Satyamev Jayate Trust, that had financially supported several programmes to sterilise monkeys and transfer them to forests.

On November 12 last year, a monkey snatched a 12-day-old infant from the arms of his mother and killed the baby on the outskirts of Agra.

Just days later, monkeys were blamed for the death of a 58-year-old woman.

The terror of monkeys all over India, particularly in the religious places like Mathura, Vrindavan, Agra etc in Uttar Pradesh, in Rajasthan and Uttrakhand is increasing day by day and even the hospitals and VIP areas are not free of the monkey attacks.

In Uttarakhand monkeys have entered every village and house and are incessantly damaging agricultural produce. These monkeys in various religious spots, temples and tourist places snatch the belongings and the foodstuff of the visitors and on resistence even injure them grievously. There have been hundreds of instances of monkey attacks in the above mentioned states and foreign visitors n tourists too had been their incessant victims.

In Agra today a fourteen day old infant has been snatched by a monkey from a lactating mother from inside the house and was later on found killed after having been brutally injured. The news have sent terror wave all around the Runawat village of Arga where good number of people have already been injured due to increasing monkey attacks.

There have been no remedial action whatsoever from the administration’s side who are least bothered or interested to catch these dreaded monkeys who are on an attacking spree. According to news pouring in, the family and the mother of the 14 day old infant killed are badly terrorised and grief stricken due to the tragedy and foresee more such brutal monkey attacks in the future.

The expeditious multiplication of the monkey population in all the states of the country is a matter of great concern. Even the former president of India Dr. Pranav Mukerjee was not spared by these notorious monkeys when on one of his visits as president of India his spects were also snatched by these monkeys in Mathura despite so much of security.

Uttarakhand is the worst victim of monkey attacks who are literally entering houses in the villages and suburban cities n towns and creating havoc by destroying crops and injuring residents particularly children. Uttarakhand being the jungle state dominated by 73 % of trees the monkeys caught in hordes by the department’s concerned release them here thus allowing them to create havoc in this himalayan state.

It is high time that the concerned governmental agencies should expedite efforts to catch these troubling monkeys and keep them away from public places.
