From March 2nd your ride to Delhi Airport will become smoother as the National Highway Authority (NHAI) will finally open up the one-way Dhaula Kuan Flyover. The flyover will not only ease traffic congestion but will also eliminate traffic lights at the T-point next to Dhaula Kuan Metro station.

Because of this traffic light, daily commuters face long snarling jams, especially during the peak hours. It is expected that the flyover will save around 15 minutes of traveling time of commuters.

According to NHAI senior official, the four-lane half km long flyover will be inaugurated by Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari. The senior official said, “It took just six months to complete the flyover at Dhaula Kuan. This also includes about 45 days when work was stopped because of air pollution. Another 42 days were lost as we had to halt work for security reasons and VIP movements on this stretch,”

The rest part of the much ambitious project that includes a tunnel on Parade Road crossing and an underpass across NH 48 will be completed by June, which is much earlier than the given deadline of December 2019.

An estimated 4 lakh commuters daily travel from this road. Once the complete stretch will become operational, the commuters will save a total of 30 minutes to reach Airport from Dhaula Kuan and Parade Road.
