Cases of sedition have been lodged against him in five states of the country. The controversy surrounding Shaheen Bagh and the Sharjeel Imam’s arrest has now become the center stage topic of Delhi elections with the AAP, BJP, and Congress using these issues to the fullest to derive maximum political mileage at the hustings, the polling of which is on 8th February and results to be declared on 11th. During the recent debates/ verbal heated arguments between the union Home minister Amit Shah and AAP’s national convenor and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, the former has publicly questioned the latter to make his stand clear whether he wants the arrest of Sharjeel Imam, for issuing derogatory and inflammatory anti-India statement or not and the Delhi CM Kejriwal has challenged the NDA govt to arrest him.

Meanwhile, the Delhi election commission has issued notice to the union state minister Anurag Thakur for his highly objectionable statement/ raising of the slogan at Rithala meeting yesterday addressed by HM Shah asking to respond on: DESH KE GADDARON KO.. ….. JUTE MAARO SAALON KO. The second part of the slogan however was not raised by the minister but responded by the audience.
