Meditation is an essential ingredient of a happy life. According to researches, it helps to eliminate anxiety, negative thoughts, worries and all those factors that prevent us from leading a happy and healthy life. Regular practice of meditation keeps the mind in control and mitigates stress and anxiety.
However, there are many people who struggle with meditation and I am one among those. For some people don’t like to just sit and doing nothing. And, the most important thing when you are doing nothing, you have to focus on nothing. Sometimes some people just want to do something that grounds them without sitting still.
So, here are some anxiety-calming things that can be practiced instead of meditation.
Breathing the stress out
Breathing techniques always work. All needed is take long and deep breaths through the nose and concentrate on the breath. That’s all! Focus on breathing all the way down into the lower belly. Make sure that shoulders shouldn’t rise, but the stomach will expand with air.
This stimulates the Parasympathetic Nervous System, which basically turns on the relaxation switch.
Music: The best stress buster
Music, for some people it is the best thing and they feel like the world would just crumble without music. Calming music helps release tension and stress, which can be considered as a break that a person really needs from a stressful day.
It is a proven stress-reliever, you can play around with your list of music that makes you say, “ahhhhhh.”
Walk to connect with yourself
Another best stress reliever is walking outside. While walking, you can plug in earbuds and jam out to some calming and soulful soundtrack.
A 10-20 minute stroll and connecting with your surroundings will make you relieved from all your stress. Just be with the surroundings while walking, and watch your thoughts flow in and out like waves.
Express through writing
It is believed that the best stress reliever is expressing all your heart out. However, this method sometimes doesn’t work if the other persons are not on your side. So the best way is to write out what’s stressing you out. It has been proven that expressing your stress though the writing is one of the productive ways to tackle the causes of your anxiety. When you feel anxious and not sure why try free-flow writing. This will help you to hash out everything that’s on your mind or what’s affecting you, and you will surely be able to find the source of your stress.
Try this and write at least for ten minutes without and do not bother about spelling and grammatical errors. Just go on writing and let it all out. This is a safe way to go deep and get some perspective.
One important thing to note, if you’re going through a LOT of stress, then better to have some close friend or else, visit a therapist in case you start feeling lonely or not feeling to mingle with anyone.
Practicing yoga is really an active way to get the anxiety out. If you are a beginner join good yoga classes nearby your house. It keeps the mind focused on keeping up and doing the poses correctly. This will help you to be more mindful and present than sitting still and mind wandering. The yoga techniques are also called Progressive Muscle Relaxation for anxiety release.
If you don’t want to go to a classroom session then try out the video sessions on the internet. Yoga works better if you practice it in the open air in the morning time.
Be the person your dog thinks you are!!!
When we bring a puppy or dog into the family it is quite essential to know a few things about how to take care of dogs. Proper nutrition, as well as physical and emotional care, is the most important things for pets.
Here are a few things we need to know.
Arrange a secure and hygienic shelter.
Providing a free living space with good hygiene is the basic need of any pet. It not only adds quality to its life but also helps in healthy growth.
Always provide fresh water to drink.
It is important to maintain optimum hydration levels for health and energy. So, always provide your dog with enough water to drink.
A quality diet is a must, however, avoid obesity.
Overweight is the door to almost all kind of diseases. Hence, consult a veterinarian and provide the right food to your dog to fulfill the nutritional needs of the pet. Since the quality and quantity of food depends on the size, age, level of activity and breed, it is always necessary to consult a veterinarian.
Visit veterinarian with your pet on a regular basis.
It is not just food; a veterinarian also provides information regarding vaccination, deworming and external parasite control. Maintain a vaccination record of your dog and contact veterinarian if you find your dog is ill, injured, or something unusual.
Provide them plenty of opportunities to exercise.
For a healthy life, even your dog needs proper exercise regime. Once again, as per the age, size and breed, check what amount of exercise your dog needs to maintain a healthy life.
Interact with your dog and develop a bond.
It is necessary to communicate and interact with your dog. Provide them quality time and try to understand their particular needs. This will also help in developing a relationship and prevent undesirable behavioral patterns.
Train your dog.
Training your dog to follow simple commands is very helpful. It is believed that the dog interpreting it’s master’s commands and following the basic instructions lives a safe and healthy life.
Practice reproductive control.
If you plan to breed your dog or are opposed to spaying and neutering, then take proper measures to prevent mismatings. Consult with a veterinarian regarding the problem.
Dental care is essential.
Gum disease can have serious implications. Such infection leads to premature tooth loss and infection in other major organs including the heart valves. Be careful about such things and take appropriate measures to avoid dental infections.
Grooming and nail trimming on regular basis.
Regular brushing help to keep the coat knot-free and it also reduces shedding as well. Overgrown nails are also too common and it creates difficulty for them to walk. Therefore, always keep your dog’s nails trimmed.
Why some people have all the Luck?
Why do some people get all the luck while others never get the breaks they deserve?
A psychologist says he has discovered the answer.
Ten years ago, I set out to examine luck. I wanted to know why some people are always in the right place at the right time, while others consistently experience ill fortune. I placed advertisements in national newspapers asking for people who felt consistently lucky or unlucky to contact me.
Hundreds of extraordinary men and women volunteered for my research and over the years, I have interviewed them, monitored their lives, and had them take part in experiments.
I carried out a simple experiment to discover whether this was due to differences in their ability to spot such opportunities. I gave both lucky and unlucky people a newspaper and asked them to look through it and tell me how many photographs were inside. I had secretly placed a large message halfway through the newspaper saying: “Tell the experimenter you have seen this and win $50.” This message took up half of the page and was written in type that was more than two inches high. It was staring everyone straight in the face, but the unlucky people tended to miss it and the lucky people tended to spot it.
Unlucky people are generally tenser than lucky people, and this anxiety disrupts their ability to notice the unexpected.
As a result, they miss opportunities because they are too focused on looking for something else. They go to parties intent on finding their perfect partner and miss opportunities to make good friends.
They look through newspapers determined to find certain types of job advertisements and miss other types of jobs.
Lucky people are more relaxed and open, and therefore see what is there rather than just what they are looking for. My research eventually revealed that lucky people generate good fortune via four principles. They are skilled at creating and noticing chance opportunities, make lucky decisions by listening to their intuition, create self-fulfilling prophesies via positive expectations, and adopt a resilient attitude that transforms bad luck into good.
Here are Professor Wiseman’s four top tips for becoming lucky:
1) Listen to your gut instincts – they are normally right
2) Be open to new experiences and breaking your normal routine
3) Spend a few moments each day remembering things that went well
4) Visualize yourself being lucky before an important meeting or a telephone call.
Have a Lucky day and work for it…
“The happiest people in the world are not those who have no problems, but those who learn to live with things that are less than perfect.”
“There is a great difference between “worry” and “concern.”
A worried person only sees the problem and a concerned person solves the problem!
May Luck be your side!!!
By Professor Richard Wiseman, University of Hertfordshire.
Social rules help you to look Professional
1. Don’t call someone more than twice continuously. If they don’t pick up your call that means they have something more important to attend to.
2. Return money that you have borrowed even before the other person remembers lending it to you. It shows your integrity and character. Same goes with umbrellas, pens and lunch boxes.
3. Never order the expensive dish on the menu when someone is treating you for lunch/dinner. If possible ask them to order their choice of food for you.
4. Don’t ask awkward questions like ‘Oh so you aren’t married yet?’ Or Why didn’t you buy a house?’ For god’s sake, it isn’t your problem.
5. Always open the door for the person coming behind you. Doesn’t matter if it is a guy or a girl. You don’t grow small by treating someone well in public.
6. If you take a taxi with a friend, and he/she pays now, you pay next time.
7. Respect different political opinions.
8. Never interrupt people talking.
9. If you tease someone, and they don’t seem to enjoy it, stop it and never do it again.
10. Say “thank you” when someone is helping you.
11. Praise publicly. Criticize privately.
12. There’s almost never a reason to comment on someone’s weight. Just say, “You look fantastic.” If they want to talk about losing weight, they will.
13. When someone shows you a photo on their phone, don’t swipe left or right. You never know what’s next.
14. If a colleague tells you they have a doctors appointment, don’t ask what it’s for, just say hope you’re ok. If they want to talk about it they will and you don’t put them in the uncomfortable position of having to tell you their personal illness.
15. Treat the cleaner with the same respect as the CEO. Nobody is impressed at how rudely you can treat someone below you but people will notice if you treat them with respect.
16. If a person is speaking directly to you, staring at your phone is rude.
17. Never give advice until you’re asked
18. When meeting someone after a long time, unless they want to talk about it, don’t ask them their age and salary.
19. Mind your own business unless anything involves you directly — just stay out of it.
20. Take off your sunglasses if you are talking to anyone in the street. It is a sign of respect and more eye contact is as important as your speech.

IS SELF-DOUBT THE MOST POWERFUL?
Self-doubt is a “life destroyer”. Living a life full of self-doubts is the most complex one to be lived with, indeed. If you are really striving to survive with a deadly combination of a positive life and self-doubt, just ask yourself a question: “Are you really experiencing a good life?” We will always witness many varied kinds of humans entering and leaving our life phases, some being negative and some being positive. Positive people are undoubtedly worthy of being present with you but negativity is the thing you should be maintaining a distance from.
Let us change our thoughts about the life. You are confused on how to modify these, right? Trust me on this, “Mental Discipline” is a must. Our thoughts are the leaders of our actions, thus, if they are positive, our acts will be the ones making our thinking about life change in no moment of time. The way we think is truly judged by the success, self-fulfillment and the happiness we are dealing with in the present.
Self-doubt is totally enough to eat a person alive. So, here arises the need for its abolishment. If you want to live a peaceful and satisfied life, let the “self-doubt” fly away from your mind, body, heart and soul. You are here in the right platform if you really need to get away from this disturbance. We have come up with a list of disciplines that you must follow to wipe away the problem of “self-doubt” from you.
1) Be Positive
Self Doubts and lies have a direct relationship. The more self-doubtful you are, the more lies you are definitely going to tell yourself. Just be positive and see the things change the way you want them to be. Instead of counting the negative and shortcomings from your life, focus on the good and happening aspects and feel blessed to have them.
2) You are blessed
Just wake up in the morning and say “I am blessed”. Only saying this won’t work, you need to think and act upon this. Focus on the blessings rather than focusing on the problems. What is the kind of growth you are seeking? Well, the actual growth I am talking about is the one you attain after a lot of hard work and dedication.
3) Live your life
Live your life the way you wanted it to be and you already have it. It depends on all on you, how to spend it: negatively or positively. Positive thinking should be exercised on a day to day basis on any operations/tasks you are performing.
4) Act oppositely
In order to get the best results, start acting totally reverse of what you were thinking before. In case you are having a negative thinking, start focusing on the positives. If you want to succeed but feel like giving up, stand up and move ahead to reach your goal. In this case, beliefs can easily be changed by the powers of your action.
5) The three C’s
The three C’s for eliminating self-doubt are Catch it, Check it and Change it. Let me explain this to you with an example. In case you are feeling too negative regarding your life experiences, you should first catch it, check it by listing out all the good aspects of all your experiences and change it into a positive one.
So, above are some of the few listed eliminators of the self-doubt completely from your life. Living a peaceful is the one everyone strives for, and it can solely be attained by an all in one formula – “Be Positive”.
TYPES OF PEOPLE WHEN IT RAINS
THE PERFECT RAIN CAPTURE ONE’s
For these people rain is not just rain it is an emotion and perfect moment to capture a perfect rain memory. They don’t care about what will happen or what people will think, all they wish is to have a perfect click for a perfect “DP”
MAI NACHU AJ CHAM CHAM ONE’s
They are the next best Shradha Kapoor live, who needs some drops of rain to dance over. They can dance like hell and can prove that they are the best. These people be like “BARISH HO YA KHARISH MAI FIR BHI NACHUNGA”
THE AASHIQUI COUPLE
Well they are kinda cute one’s who thinks that rain is the perfect moment to have their perfect romance. But the funniest part is the couple fighting over K KITNE PLATE GOLGAPPE KHANE HAI, SUDDENLY BECOMES “ADITYA ROY KAPOOR” AND “SHRADHA KAPOOR”. And later on they are also shocked that what were they upto!
THE ONE WHO HATES THE RAIN
Yes oh yes! These kind of people exist and they are the one’s who totally don’t care whether it is raining or whatever. They don’t wait to have a perfect selfie they don’t upload any snaps and the biggest truth is when they see other people doing such stupidities they always have a thought to throw them in “KEECHAD”.
THE LONG DRIVE ONE’s
For them “barish= long drive”. They are on their perfect enjoyment mode. All they need is that perfect moment to have their cars out, set the music loud and travel and enjoy. Kyunki inhe hi to “SALMAN KHAN BANKE DIKHANA HAI SABKO”
THE SNAPPERS/FACEBOOK UPLOADERS
These kind of people are kinda school vala NOTICE BOARD because they need to update everyone first. “they don’t give a damn what’s happening around them, but UNKO STATUS TO DAALNA HAI YAAR”
THE CHAI AND PAKODA LOVERS
When the whole word is busy doing all of the above things there are some people who really want to enjoy the rain with “CHAI KI CHUSKI” AND “PAKODE”. They are the real lovers of rain because they don’t need any picture snap or dance to express their love, “UNKE LIE CHAI AUR PAKODE HI JAAN THI HAI OR RAHENGE”.
There are many types of people during rain, and each enjoy rain to their fullest. “Kyunki barish ka mausam is happy vala mausam”
FRIENDSHIP’S DAY SPECIAL- TYPES OF FRIENDS WE HAVE
THE CHADDI BUDDY
The word chaddi buddy sounds kind of “bachpan vala jigri yaar”. We all have at least one chaddi buddy in our life who is a part of us since our childhood. We have the best of memories with these kinds of friends. Most annoying thing we face is “BACHPAN KI BAATE SABKE SAMNE BOLKAR EMBARASS KARNA”.
THE 2 BAJE KI PHONE CALL VALA DOST
All of us must have at least one friend in our life whom we can call even at 2 in the night and can discuss any “CHOTI BADI MUSIIIBAT”. These kinds of friends are kinda mood lightener. Funniest thing about having a friend like them is that they are used to our stupidities and have a permanant solution to every problem.
THE TU MERA BHAI HAI ONE
These friends don’t give us feeling of being friends, they give us a brotherly feeling. We can say that if one doesn’t have a bhai wala friend he is truly lacking in best of memories. These types of friends are like “HATH TO LAGAE MERE BHAI KO KOI SABKO DEKHLENGE”.
YE DOSTI HUM NAHI TODENGE TYPES
Well jai veeru are role models of true friendship. We must have a friend like jai veeru in our life, without whom we can’t imagine a single moment! These friends are sugar to our cup of tea, support system and motivation in our lives! For once we can forget our date of birth but we cannot forget these types of friends in our life.
THE KAM KI JAGA KAAND KARNE VALA DOST
Of course if we have not come across these types of friends in life then we have not enjoyed our life yet. They can’t leave a single moment of troubling us “kyunki vo to help karne jaate hai par destruction apne aap hojata hai”. They cannot resist themselves from telling our parents things which we even can’t imagine to tell!” AUNTY HAR HAFTE 3 LECTURES BUNK KARTA HAI YE COLLEGE KE” cheers to these kinds of friends!
THE CHEAP BATE KARNE VALA DOST
One can only be open to these kinds of friends truly because they are not friends they are a bundle of emotion. We can even enjoy the cheap baatein with these friends whether they be cheap songs, cheap movies, thrilling activities and “peena pilana” having a friend like them in life gives a feeling like “KYUNKI TU DHADKAN MAI DIL”. Because we don’t need to express what kind of TROUBLE we are thinking they can figure it out themselves and can have a “GET SET GO ATTITUDE”.
These friends are truly a blessing or a gem we can say! No one can give the perfect solution like them. They are truly motivators “kyunki in dosto ke bina life ki equation balance nahi ho sakti” for once we can doubt on our parent’s advice but ye wale dosto ki advice “AANKH BAND KARKE MAN LENI CHAHIYE”. They can never give us wrong suggestion and there is no doubt in that.
BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN OTHERS
“To be the change without action you aren’t going anywhere. An ounce of practice is worth more than tons of preaching.”
~ Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi
Change is the law of nature. Charity begins at home. We must first be content and satisfied then only we can satisfy the demands and requirements of the others. If we try to satisfy the needs of others and ourselves remain needy, then we can’t do justice with the charity. It will be a forced charity just to prove ourselves philanthropists. It is very easy to make wishes for a transformation; we have to change ourselves from within.
Gandhiji who was an epitome of change. His philosophy was that:
“You must be the change you want to see in the world. As human beings, our greatness lays not so much in being able to remake the world, as in being able to remake ourselves.”
There are cruel, unkind and kind people around us. Even the kinds are subdivided into- “Sympathetic and Empathetic.” Sympathetic people may be passive one but empathetic persons are the real active humanistic creatures to feel the sorrow and pain of others. They raise voices for the deprived ones, although being the member of other part of society enjoying luxury. History is full of these empathetic leaders, who had been the change to see the world change after them.
Without taking action very little will be done. However, taking action can be hard and difficult. There can be much inner resistance and so you may resort to preaching. So, to really get where you want to go and to really understand yourself and your world you need to practice. Books can mostly just bring you knowledge. You have to take action and translate that knowledge into results and understanding. ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS.
Find what you really like to do. Then you will find the inner motivation to keep going, going and going. Success or victory will seldom come as quickly as you would have liked it to. I think one of the reasons people don’t get what they want is simply because they give up too soon.
Attempts of micro level changes, leads to change in the society. That is how society has evolved to present day’s world. Macro level changes through legislation hardly prove its worth. If you change yourself you will change your world. If you change how you think then you will change how you feel and what actions you take and so the world around you’ll change. Not only because you are viewing your environment through new lenses of thoughts and emotions but also because the change within can allow you to take action in ways you wouldn’t have or may be even have thought about, while stuck in your old thought patterns. The problem with changing your outer world without changing yourself is that you’ll still be you when you reach that change you have strived for. You’ll still have your flaws, anger, negativity, self-sabotaging tendencies etc. intact. So in this new situation you’ll still not find what you hoped for since your mind is still seeping with that negative stuff. And if you get more without having some insight into and distance from your ego it may grow more powerful. Since your ego loves to divide things, to find enemies and to create separation it may start to try to create even more problems and conflicts in your life and world.
Be congruent, be authentic, be your true self, to be the change. “Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.” So the change starts from me, right here where we are now, from each one of us. Let us all join together, acts of friendship and acts of compassion. Our children should get a better world than what we have inherited.
