While the Congress chief Rahul Gandhi had quite before made it absolutely clear that he is not in the race of the prime minister in the process of formation of the grand alliance by the anti BJP opposition parties in view of the forthcoming 2019 elections, the former union finance minister P. Chidambaram’s reassurance to the conflicting opposition leaders on the leadership issue, that the Congress party has never mentioned the name of the Nehru Gandhi scion as its future prospective prime minister has once again cleared the doubt that the Congress party n Rahul Gandhi is not at all the hurdle in the way of the non BJP opposition unity.

This statement of the former union minister P. Chidamram outrightly clears all future doubts that the Congress chief despite being the head of the biggest party having the credible national character for ruling the nation for 60 protracted years would be a threat to those who might be nurturing ambitions of being the future prime minister after 2019 elections in case the BJP led NDA is defeated at the hustings.

The fact of the matter is whether she is the BSP supremo Mayawati, SP chief or former youthful CM of UP Akhilesh Yadav or the TMC chief n Bengal CM Mamta Bannerjee all of them despite their having the confined area of political influence are nurturing the hopes to be the PM of India, and are trying to sideline Congress and Rahul Gandhi in their own manipulative ways, though on the face they have all admiration n praise for the UPA advisory Council chief Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi .

The regional political outfits who are anti BJP have their own likings and dislikings but till now nobody is favoring Rahul Gandhi except the NCP chief Sharad Pawar n a negligible few who still stand with the Nehru Gandhi scion and openly say that the claim of the Congress party as the largest political force does stand forth unambiguously to project Rahul as the PM candidate.

But the factor that currently goes against the Congress party is, its political influence only confining to two states today viz Punjab and Puducherry while in 2013 it ruled in 17 states. The party’s decreasing influence despite Rahul Gandhi extensively campaigning in all the states and losing them to BJP one by one has actually brought the image of the former to tremendous downslide and as such it has lost its big brother status.

However, despite all this there is also no denying the fact that right from the hectic campaigning in the elections of Gujarat to the current campaigning in the five states going to the polls including his outstanding performance during the no confidence motion by exposing the Modi government on important issues of prime national significance such as Rafale deal, banking frauds, demonetisation, unemployment, inflation and on crony capitalism, Rahul has unambiguously exhibited that he is today the most vociferous, eloquent and attacking leader who can counter the expediciously forward moving political juggernaut of Narendra Modi to a great extent provided the entire non BJP opposition parties, national and regional give uo their vested and squeezed interests and wholeheartedly n earnestely come behind him in the shape of a grand alliance atleast till the completion of the 2019 general elections n if it really becoes a reality he would definitely come out with flying colours n make a credible mark at the pan India level.

Moreover, since things are absolutely clear now that Rahul Gandhi is no more the PM candidate of the would be grand allaince against the BJP would the over ambitious Mayawati, Mamata Bannerjee and Akhilesh Yadav show their honest political decency and whole heartedly come forward to counter the Modi phenomena and form a credible national alternative for 2019 or they’ll still be squeezed in their thinking and political actions.
