The miserable defeat of the Bhartiya Janata Party in two parliamentary bypolls in Gorakhpur and Phulpur including the seats of Jehanabad and Araria in Bihar by Bahujan Samajwadi backed SP and RJD led by Lalu Prasad Yadav who is currently in Jail is a stunning blow and tragic setback for the party ruling in the centre and 21 states of the country. One should also not forget that it has also lost badly in two parliamentary seats in Rajasthan by polls similarly just two months ago in a state ruled by its own party government. Since 2014, after the BJP assumed power at the centre with a historic win, the ruling party has lost in 10 parliamentary seats in various bypolls and is running short of individual majority in Lok Sabha by two seats though it has enough support of its NDA allies. Lot has already been scripted about these defeats in UP’s two BJP strongholds earlier represented by the incumbent CM Adityanath Yogi and deputy CM Keshav Maurya.

These defeats are a stunning blow for the central and state BJP, including prime minister Modi because in 2014 the BJP saffronised the largest state of the country viz UP and secured 73 seats out of 80 with two seats of Apna Dal. Similarly a year ago its saffron juggernaut of Hinduism under prime minister Narendra Modi’s charismatic leadership continued and the party secured 325 seats catapulting the saffron robed seer to the top slot i. e. the post of chief minister of UP. And just after 365 days the most popular hindu leader, a sear turned CM who was seeking peoples support and sympathy on the issue eradicating criminalism and criminals from Uttar Pradesh could not bring his candidate victorious from his own traditional strong hold Gorakhpur from where he himself was the member of parliament for 25 long years earlier represented by his religious and political mentor late Mahant Avaithyanath. Similarly, the former UP BJP chief and a dalit himself could’nt claim BJP’s victory of his own parliamentary constituency.

It’s a dangerous and worrisome signal for the state as well as the central BJP as the votes of the dalits, Yadavs, minorities, backwards and the people of the lowest ebb of the society in both the constituencies has this time consolidated enmass in favour of the BSP backed SP and the hard core RSS or hindu vote did’nt turned for voting. This factor unambiguously speaks of the fact that the dalit, minority and OBC vote bank which comprises of a sizeable chunk in UP and had gone in favour of BJP during the last parliamentary and assembly elections under the influence of hindu saffronization minus minority vote, has this time deflected itself from BJP enmass.

This sends a negative signal and message for the BJP. Occuring anti incumbency in just a year’s time in UP, Rajasthan and Bihar where the BJP lost in all the bypolls of parliament is definitely a warning signal for BJP high command giving an unambiguous indication of diminishing Modi and Yogi Aditya Nath charisma who had till now been on a expeditious winning spree right from Assam to Tripura and North East after 2014.

While the BJP’s bypoll defeat seems to be the result of fastly eroding dalit, backward, down trodden and minority base of BJP in UP, Rajasthan and Bihar, political analysts also give the entire credit for this show to BSP in UP, Congress in Rajasthan and RJD in Bihar but what comes out of this development is the fact that anti BJP unity if worked ferociously as was the case in UP , the experiment can compel the ruling BJP to bite the dust in 2019.

The by election results have made things amply clear and transparent that the non BJP opposition unity at the national level to consolidate the minority, OBC, backward, dalit and other lower caste vote bank, including the votes of the disenchanted commoners, unemployeed youths, farmers, lower middle class and electorates of the suburban areas is the need of the hour.

2019 is not far and time is very short too. A non BJP Mahagath- bandhan at the national level under one umbrella and unanimous leader is the only and sole credible alternative to the biased and rhetorical BJP which has so far failed on several important fronts like price rise, unemployment, agrarian sector, investment, growth rate and industrial and economic self reliance. Now is the right time to hit the hot iron. If not now never will it be, say news analysts.

Our government is fully committed to honour the self respect of the poor, hapless and backward dalit and adivasi communities and would leave no stone unturned to protect them.

The government is actively working on establishing special courts in the country to fast track the atrocities being inflicted on the SC / ST communities and has also proposed to establish a full fledged commision for the sub catagory of the backward classes of the countryas well.

Prime minister Narendra Modi was today addressing the audience at the inauguration of the newly built magnificient building in honour of the architect of Indian constitution Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Memorial at 26 Alipur Road, Delhi.

Casting aspersions on the previous rules of the successive Congress governments Modi said that they have not done a single work in the name of Dr. Ambedkar during their several decades’ rule and had literally sit on files for years together.

After his government came to power at the centre he personally got every file related to Dr. Ambedkar projects’ searched and got the work of Ambedkar Museam and Memorial completed in record time, finally inaugurating it today.

Terming the memorial as the symbol of an outstanding iconic personality’s extraordinay remembrences of the last days of his life’s achievements, prime minister Narendra Modi said that this building has been constructed in the shape of a book identifying it with our India constitution prepared by Dr. Ambedkar.

Accusing the Congress party of delaying every developmental project in the country Narendra Modi said that his government has completed hundreds of stalled projects during his last four year tenure to the tune of over 9.5 lakh crores thus patting his own government. He said, if he would start counting the list of myriad number of developmental projects completed by his government he’ll have to continue till next morning.

Assuring the people of the country of completely abolishing tuberculosis in India by 2025 instead of the earlier target of 2030. Modi said his government believes in making India strong and viable whereas the previous Congress government held back every project meant for the peoples’ welfare.

Highly lauding Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s principles of equality of the society and equal rights to all sections in terms of legal, constitutional rights and freedom of speech, self respect and honour, prime minister Modi said his government too is pursuing ahead on the same ideals and principles like opening of crores of Jan Dhan accounts and toilets for the poor and hapless all over the country, particularly in the rural areas.

He revealed that his government has opened 31 crores Jan Dhan accounts and built 7 crore toiltets all over the country with 2 crore toilets in the rural areas for the convenience of the poor, down troddens and the dalits.

He assured the oppressed sections of the country that social justice theme is not merely a slogan for him and his government but a solid commitment to improve the economic, social and educational status of the poor and the down troddens in order to make them fully self reliant and the proud citizens of the country.

Has Kathua, Gujarat and Unnao resulted in downsliding of the Modi Charisma ?

Published

on

The three shameful incidents of gangrape of two minors in Jammu’s Kathua and Gujarat and their subsequent most brutal murders and a rape of a teenager by the ruling party’s lawmaker with a custodial death of her traumatic father has undoubtedly resulted in the expeditious downsliding in the image of the BJP led NDA at the centre and its state governments in J&K and Uttar Pradesh.

Keeping in view the national and even international outrage compounded with the massive condemnation in the media, it looks as if the popularity graph of the government that was on the incessant rise is on a serious downslide, particularly after the continuous winning spree in about 21 states of the country, defeating Congress, SP, BSP and even the Communists in their very traditional stongholds of more than two decades as was the case in Tripura.

The way Narendra Modi’s charisma and outstanding organisational skills of Amit Shah made them politically invincible, with even their ardent opponents predicting that BJP led NDA may even repeat in 2019, the recent tragic happenings of Kathua, Gujarat and Unnao, UP has now put the saffron party on the defensive mode and back foot with people of the country, particularly the entire women community, youngsters as well as the intellectuals including the media going against them thus bringing the party’s popularity graph towards a downslide trend.

During the 2012 incident of Delhi’s Nirbhaya when the Congress Party was in power both at the centre as well as in the NCT of Delhi it was the BJP which tried its level best to put the Congress governments of the centre and Delhi on the dock and tried to extract the maximum political advantage by defeating the Congress politically alongwith other key issues of massive corruption at the centre and the Common Wealth Games.

Today while the BJP is in power at the centre the same nature of issues pertaining to crime against women and increasing rapes and gruesome murders of minor and teenage girls had started haunting the Modi government.

Today the BJP lead Modi government is in great problems after these most shameful rape cum murders with its own lawmaker involved in one of the rapes and the custodial death of her father including giving of communal colour to the Jammu’s Kathua rape n murder of 8 year old Asifa in order to exonerate the culprits who happen to be from the majority community.

While the prime minister Narendra Modi has outrightly condemned the Kathua and Unnao incidents and assured the countrymen of the complete safety and security of women with stringent punishment to the culprits, the political analysts say that he was too late to issue the statement and that too not uttering the names of both these incidents.

Similarly the Uttar Pradesh’s saffron robed chief minister Yogi Aditya Nath too issued statement of not sparing the culprits even if he belonged to his party, after the state high court has already issued directives to arrest the BJP MLA and handing the probe to the CBI.

These conspiratorial and calculated late actions and reactions have incalculably harmed the party politically say the political analysts. Just yesterday about 59 former civil servants of the country wrote a hard hitting letter to Prime minister Narendra Modi expressing their grave concern, outrage and desentment over the Kathu and Unnao incidents holding his government directly responsible for these hate crimes as well as for vitiating the communal environment of the country in the name of saffronisation and majoritarianism.

It may be recalled that since 2014 when Narendra Modi came to power with historic majority, his graph of popularity and invincible charisma had been on incessant rise, winning 21 states unquestionably and to the utter shock and surprise of his political rivals.

In Gujarat too, his home turf, though the margin of victory was low but he maintained status quo for the last 25 years incessantly. This all happened despite 400 people losing their lives standing in endless queues during the demonetisation phase and lakhs of people and small, medium entrepreneurs losing their jobs and businesses. The GST implementation exercise too annoyed majority of the businessmen all over the country. The recent shameful defeat in the BJP’s UP CM and Deputy CM’s home turf Gorakhpur and Phulpur at the hands of the BSP supported SP candidates including earlier defeat in two parliamentary constituencies of Rajasthan has made one thing absolutely clear that anti incumbency against the BJP governments in various states and dalit vote banks’ drifting away from the saffron party has started before the 2019 national election.

Its earlier partners like Andhra Pradesh’s TDP and Shiv Sena of Maharashtra has already started drifting away from it while the four Southern states are also badly annoyed with it on the issue of Central Finance Commision’s step motherly treatment to them in the allocation of funds thus ready to create a North South divide straightaway harming the BJP led NDA under prime minister Modi’s leadership.

The government is also on the dock on the SC, ST issue with majority of the Dalits already antagonised on the Supreme Court’s verdict on the dilution of the Prevention of Atrocities against SC ST Act.

On the employment generation front and bringing black money stashed in foreign banks which were the core issues of the BJP led NDA government as assured in his pre election promises, the central BJP leadership has completely failed to come true to the peoples’ expectation.

It’s more like a government of rhetorics say the political analysts. Conclusively one can say that the shameful incidents of Kathua, Gujarat and Unnao has exposed the BJP led NDA government to a great extent and has increased its anti incumbency factor manifold with Modi and Shah losing their political credibility fastly and speedily.

However, its also true that the non BJP opposition is still scattered and despite all these national shams if the non BJP opposition still stays scattered n does not show seriousness to unite, there is not an inkling of doubt that despite all these tragic incidents, the saffron may again shine over the political horizons of the country. What’s your take friends?
