DEVANSHI FELICITATED WITH PRIDE OF UTTARAKHAND, INDIA AWARD AT PCI, NEW DELHI

It was indeed an extremely wonderful occasion yesterday at Press Club Of India when good number of admirers, fans and well wishers of Devanshi Rana thronged the PCI precincts to watch her being felicitated with good number of honours by various socio journalistic organisations, the best being the PRIDE OF UTTARAKHAND, INDIA AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE AS A MERELY 18 YEAR OLD SHOOTER AND BRINGING LAURELS FOR INDIA AND UTTARAKHAND BY BAGGING BACK TO BACK TWO GOLD MEDALS IN PISTOL SHOOTING IN THE WORLD CUP JUNIOR SHOOTING CHAMPIONSHIPS IN SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA.

The ocassion was really mesmerising which bore more a festive look as prominent folklore singer of Jaunsaar, Uttarakhand, Reshma and the traditional musicians with children in the folk dresses performing, won the hearts of all those present.

The eminent literateur and writer Mangalesh Dabral blessed Devanshi and wished her all the very best for her more outstanding illustrious career in Asian, Commonwealth and world Olympics in the years to come.

The grand father of Devanshi, the current president of Uttranchal Rifles Association and former minister could’nt control his emotions and literally wept while explaining to the audience as to how he has struggled hard with negligible resources to ensure that his internationally shooting champion and Arjun Awardee Jaspal Rana reaches the top slot in shooting while he was starting his career in ace shooting.

He catagorically said: Devanshi has to go to ahead with more concentration, struggle, vigour and vitality to bring Gold Medal for the country in World Oympics amid huge cheers and clappings from the crowd and that she will surely accomplish the target in the years to come.

Senior journalist Rajiv Nayan Bahuguna comparing Devanshi’s grand father Narayan Singh Rana with Dronacharya of Mahabharata said that the way he is training the budding shooters to reach the top in the national and international championships and has devoted his entire life for the cause in Uttarakhand and India, ( he)fully deserves to be lauded as a master coach in shooting. Even Devanshi while praising her grandpa said that he is the real force of inspiration behind her global victory.

The sr journalist Suresh Nautiyal too praised Devanshi for her outstanding achievement and said that she has become the role model for the budding sportspersons all over the country.

Sr. journalist Vijendra Rawat congratulated the whole Rana family for their outstanding contribution in the pistol and rifle shooting and bringing several golds for the country.

The organisations which honoured Devanshi with Pride of India and Uttarakhand awards were Uttarakhand Journalists Forum, Akhil Bhartiya Uttarakhand Maha Sabha, Uttarakhand Chintan and Garhwal Heroes Footbal Club.

The Lansdowne Old Association also felicitated her alongwith Kalinka Charitable Trust. Mr. Sunil Negi, President, Uttarakhand Journalists Forum, Vinod Nautiyal, President Akhil Bhartiya Uttarakhand Maha Sabha and Anil Negi, B S Negi, President n Genl Secy. Garhwal Heroes Footbal Club presented the trophies to Devanshi on behalf of the above organisations.

A cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh was also announced for Devanshi by the President of Haryana Football Association Kunwar Surajpal Singh Ammuji. While Vinod Rawat presented the Kalinka Charitable Trust Trophy, Janardhan Sharma and Rajiv Barthwal honoured Devanshi with LOSA Trophy. The programme was ably conducted by Sunil Negi.

Sunil Negi hails from Uttarakhand and is a veteran journalist and author. He is a prolific writer and has carved a name for himself in the media world. He received the 'Golden Achiever Award' in the '90th AIAC Excellence Awards 2019' for his book ''Havoc in Heaven'' based on the tragedy that struck Uttarakhand in which thousands of people lost their lives. He is also the President of Uttarakhand Journalists Forum and majorly writes on Politics, Current Affairs, and Social Issues.
