It is surprisingly shocking to note that the constable in 11th Batallion of Garhwal Rifles Rajendra Singh Negi is not in Pakistan nor captured – as suggested by the Army sources based on a piece of news published in some papers in the capital.

The news item reveals that there are no chances of Rajendra Singh Negi who slipped while on Duty in Gulmarg, landing in Pakistan. However, the army personnel has continued their best and serious effort to search for him and would continue to do so till the end. But since the weather condition in the area is quite bad, completely covered with snow and incessant high tide wind blowing, they are finding it difficult to trace the missing jawan.

As per the army sources, the snowbound place where Rajendra Singh Negi slipped does not indicate any possibility of him landing in the Pakistan territory. Moreover, the army nor the government of Pakistan have not confirmed or denied about Rajendra Singh Negi’s appearance on the Pakistani soil or his being in their captivity. This news makes things more worrisome as the traumatic family of the lost soldier, his old father, wife, two daughters and mother are anxiously looking forward to the safe return of Rajendra Singh Negi. The chief minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat and the former Army chief and CDS Vipin Rawat have assured the family of the missing jawan of all possible help to trace him and bring back from Pakistan’s captivity if at all he is there.

Facebook, Twitter, and other social networking sites are full of Rajendra Singh Negi’ s news with people urging the PM, HM and the NSA to bring Rajendra Singh back as was Abhinandan brought back to India with full honor from Pak’s captivity after a few days. But the latest news of him not being in Pakistan or the chances being dim makes Rajendra song’s family more grief-stricken. Let’s all pray to Almighty for his safe and early return. It may be recalled that now Dehradun resident, primarily hailing from Gairsain, Rajendra Singh Negi was recruited in 11th Garhwal Rifles in 2002 and was deputed in Gulmarg sector on border duty when he went missing after slipping on the snow.

There is also news that the body of constable Rajendra Singh is allegedly lying under the snow due to avalanche after he was slipped due to bad weather. The Army personnel are trying hard to retrieve his body. His body is in the Indian territory, not in Pakistan as being reported on social networking sites. However, till yet nothing stands confirmed.

Sunil Negi hails from Uttarakhand and is a veteran journalist and author. He is a prolific writer and has carved a name for himself in the media world.
