The CISF personnel deployed at the Taj Mahal here are now training to use a novel weapon, catapults, to tackle the monkey menace there.

Central Industrial Security Force Commandant Braj Bhushan Singh told PTI that the constables are being trained to use ‘gulels’ (catapults) to ward off monkeys from attacking and biting tourists.

“The monkeys have been posing a huge problem here. Many tourists have been injured in monkey attacks. Our jawans are being trained to use catapults to shoo them away,” he said.

A local wildlife activist, armed with the provisions of the Wildlife Act, 1972, however, has come to simians’ defence.

As per the Act, monkeys are protected species and no physical harm can be inflicted on them, said activist Shravan Kumar Singh.

Ved Gautam, a tourist guide, however, said, “We have seen some CISF jawans with catapults, but they have neither harmed monkeys nor used stones to target them.” Agra has been in news due to the simian menace over the last six months.

“The hospitals here almost daily receive at least one serious case of monkey attack. The municipal corporation has failed to find a solution to this menace,” said Mukesh Jain, a functionary of the Satyamev Jayate Trust, that had financially supported several programmes to sterilise monkeys and transfer them to forests.

On November 12 last year, a monkey snatched a 12-day-old infant from the arms of his mother and killed the baby on the outskirts of Agra.

Just days later, monkeys were blamed for the death of a 58-year-old woman.

On November 22, an Italian tourist was attacked by a monkey near the western gate of Taj Mahal

The terror of monkeys all over India, particularly in the religious places like Mathura, Vrindavan, Agra etc in Uttar Pradesh, in Rajasthan and Uttrakhand is increasing day by day and even the hospitals and VIP areas are not free of the monkey attacks.

In Uttarakhand monkeys have entered every village and house and are incessantly damaging agricultural produce. These monkeys in various religious spots, temples and tourist places snatch the belongings and the foodstuff of the visitors and on resistence even injure them grievously. There have been hundreds of instances of monkey attacks in the above mentioned states and foreign visitors n tourists too had been their incessant victims.

In Agra today a fourteen day old infant has been snatched by a monkey from a lactating mother from inside the house and was later on found killed after having been brutally injured. The news have sent terror wave all around the Runawat village of Arga where good number of people have already been injured due to increasing monkey attacks.

There have been no remedial action whatsoever from the administration’s side who are least bothered or interested to catch these dreaded monkeys who are on an attacking spree. According to news pouring in, the family and the mother of the 14 day old infant killed are badly terrorised and grief stricken due to the tragedy and foresee more such brutal monkey attacks in the future.

The expeditious multiplication of the monkey population in all the states of the country is a matter of great concern. Even the former president of India Dr. Pranav Mukerjee was not spared by these notorious monkeys when on one of his visits as president of India his spects were also snatched by these monkeys in Mathura despite so much of security.

Uttarakhand is the worst victim of monkey attacks who are literally entering houses in the villages and suburban cities n towns and creating havoc by destroying crops and injuring residents particularly children. Uttarakhand being the jungle state dominated by 73 % of trees the monkeys caught in hordes by the department’s concerned release them here thus allowing them to create havoc in this himalayan state.

It is high time that the concerned governmental agencies should expedite efforts to catch these troubling monkeys and keep them away from public places.

WOMEN KILLED IN DUGADDA, PAURI GARHWAL, UTTARAKHAND BY MANEATER TIGER/ LEOPARD

Just yesterday i.e. on 12th August a man eater tiger/ leopard/ panther has yet again killed a women in the jungles of Gram Sabha Juva near Dugadda about 15 kilometres away from Kotdwar township of district Pauri Garhwal.

The ill fated woman had gone to the nearby forest with the cows for grazing and collect fodder. Wife of the local inhabitant of Surendra Singh had as usual gone woth the cows for grazing but a maneater who might be looking for human flesh pounced on her and grabbed her into the dense jungles badly mutilating her face and killing on the spot.

The local Patwari and the forest officials have already retrieved the dead body of the woman and send for postmortem.

The newsviewsnetwork have been writing on these diabolical maneater killings taking place in Uttarakhand since long and the posts of these maneater killings are also becoming viral on social media but the incumbent government seems to be least worried to counter these tragedies.

Just a few days ago there had been number of maneater killings in the Raivala area near Rishikesh and Dehradun where an incident of maneater kiling was caught on camera.

If one goes by the statistics of the forest department there have been lots of such maneater attacks and subsequent killings during the last six months though this dreaded menace is going on for several years.

In order to protect and preserve the wild life, especially the decreasing population of tigers, leopards and panters in the country and Uttarakhand forests the courts have put complete ban on killings of these predators.

It is believed that about 200 or more tigers/ leopards have been declared maneaters in Uttarakhand and the killings of human beings goes unabated to the shock of those living here.

The popular wild life parks Rajaji and Jim Corbett situated in Uttarakhand and in the global tourist maps entice lots of tourists every year to these parks for convenient viewing the these dreaded maneaters.

It is believed that these tigers/ leopards have been set free in the jungles who travel hundreds of miles every night in search of prey and not finding the animal prey go in search of human beings near the human settlements on roadsides or villages near the jungles. Once these animals taste the human blood their hunger for human prey increases manifold and this is what is happening in the hills of Uttarakhand in both Garhwal and Kumaon divisions.

Hundreds of children, women and senior citizens have so far become the prey of these maneaters. It may be recalled that in 1918 n onwards the Rudraprayag maneater killed more than 125 inhabitants of Garhwal and wss finallykilled by the then British hunter and conservationist Jim Corbett who had during his stay in Nainital and Kaladhungi killed about 90 maneaters before 1947.

One Indian hunter Joy Ukeel has also killed the similar number of maneaters till now but of now avail. The maneater killings of human being is going unabated and people compelled to live indoors during evening hours apprehensive of the maneater attacks.

The former CM and present member of parliament from Haridwar has also raised his serious concern during the zero hour in Lok Sabha demanding immediate erection of electric wire fence around the jungles of Uttarakhand where maneaters are active and grant of adequate financial compensation including a government job to next of the kin of the deceased.

A brave woman who fought the maneater should be recommended for president’s bravery award

There is a news about a very brave woman of Srinagar Garhwal’s Gahard village namely Mamta Devi who was attacked by a maneater (leopard) while she was washing the clothes. Mamta, however, exhibited extraordinary courage and instead of being demoralised or terrorised put a brave fight with the predator and stoned him to death after repeated stoning as per the information of Vipin Pant an NGO activist.

This is undoubtedly an extraordinary act of outstanding bravery by a woman of immense courage who uncaring for her life bravely fought the maneater and stoned it to death. WOW.

She should be recommended for the President’s bravery award by the state government. The Uttarakhand Journalists Forum appeals to the chief minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat to take note of this incident of outstanding bravery of ahousewife and financially compensate and reward Mamta Devi of Gahard Gaon near Shrinagar Garhwal.

It’s infact disturbing to note that the dreaded incidents of leopard attacks in Garhwal and Kumaon divisions of Uttarakhand are on rapid increase with number of casualties on the rise and the government of the state literally doing nothing to ensure the safety of the human beings and initiating steps to capture these maneaters who are more than 150 in Uttarakhand, may be the number might have increased by now.

What is more disturbing is the fact that unlike in other forests these maneaters have now come nearer to human settlements in Uttarakhand and are constantly making the human’ their easy prey, ever third day. In just last one week several incidents of maneater attacks and subsequent casualties have come to our knowledge.

The situation now has come to such a sorry pass that the forest department and the wild life officers including the minister concerned should seriously work on this matter as maneater casualties have gone beyond control, in the Uttarakhand hills.

Since 2000 after achieving statehood about 600 people have lost their lives in the maneater, leopard attacks and about 31 hundred injured, many of them grievously.

This spree of attacks unfortunately in still on, rather more speedily. The lives of the people whose houses are on roadside, in isolated places and near the jungles have become completely vulnerable.

Maneaters are entering house compounds and grabbing human beings, literally dragging them to the nearby jungles thereafter, thus killing them on the spot without any fear or terror of human attack.

It is incumbent of the state government to come out with a concrete policy and plan of action on these casualties so that the maneaters are tranqualised and captured in cages or if need be killed, as humans are more important than tigers, we believe, if they are killing us so rampantly. What’s your take, friends?

The social networking site Facebook and whatsapp are extremely significant if used for good and healthy purposes, but has its ugly consequences as well if the users have ill conceived notions and intentions. There are cases of ugly nature happening when people are compelled to watch immoral, obnoxious and uncivilised material and pictures posted intentionally by notorious and disgruntled elements or hackers intruding into accounts of others to derive pivotal informations clandestinely.

But there are intellectuals, social activists, journalists and people with ethics who rightfully use this important via media for exchange of healthy and intellectual views seeking and providing significant information good for one and all. There have been lots of positive incidents that have happened due to facebook like delivering a particular group of blood to the needy, financially helping poor and hapless patients, providing job opportunities to the needy and even helping people and women in distress. This pivotal via media has also helped bringing issues of burning nature to the knowledge of the authorities concerned and simultaneously getting them resolved. Important and sensitive issues such as that of Jessica Lal murder, diabolical murder of Amit Kataria, gang rape and brutal murder of Nirbhaya of Vasant Vihar and Nazafgarh and Kathua rape and horrendous murder of a girl child also acknowledged tremendous momentum nationally through this important social networking sites finally leading to capital punishment to the guilty human beasts and stringent amendments in the laws of the land to severely punish the perpetraters of gruesome crime.

Just two days ago a great job could be executed successfully through the publicity of a missing illeterate old woman of Uttarakhand in Delhi who could finally been restored back to her family. According to BM Upreti of a social organisation of Uttarakhand in Delhi, Uttarakhand Lok Manch an old women probably in her eighties, namely Bhagwati Devi of Kumaon, Uttarakhand who was living in Sagarpur, Delhi for the last two months disappeared after she left the house alongwith her grandson. Since she was illeterate and new in Delhi, was completely unaware about anything, the addressand locality. Not well versed in Hindi she could’nt explain anything about the family and the address.

However, she was left at the Sagarpur, police station by someone. But the police was unable to locate the family as the address and other details of the family was unknown. The volunteers of Uttarakhand Lok Manch Prithvi Rawat and Vijay Gosain put her picture in the Facebook with a message to help locate her family. The message and the picture became viral and finally the Lok Manch’s dedicated team was able to restore the old woman back to her son from the Old Age Home where she was given refuge with the help of police authorities and Uttarakhand Lok Manch. After the ordeal of ten hours and the best possible efforts of the police and volunteers of the Uttarakhand Lok Manch particularly Prithvi Rawat and Vijay Gosain, it was finally the facebook post with the picture of the old woman that she could be united with her son, daughter in law and her grandson who were not only badly worried having searched all the nook and corners of the city but were also apprenhesive of her being met with some accident or UNHONEE.

Despite the repeated alarms and warnings by the Indian Meteorological departmemt and weather forecasts of various states regarding the most dangerous thunderstorm in the offing from 8th May to 10th May, with schools up to 12th standard closed by the education departments in some states this dreaded havoc has not effected that impactfully and disatrously as was expected till date except in Uttarakhand where ferocious storm and air waves are definitely creating panic. Thank God that it has’nt been so adverse with no toll of human lives and loss to properties, majorly, in any part of the country.

As per the news pouring in, the higher reaches of the Himalayan areas of Uttarakhand are witnessing thunderstorm for the last two days.

In the high altitude snow clad Himalayan ranges of Pithoragarh district in Uttarakhand one villager has died and a porter dissappeared in the snow thunderstorm. In the border area of Nepal’s Bajhang district a person succumbed to the high velocity snow thunderstorm yesterday. He was the junior engineer serving in a government department.

There have been tremendous thunderstorms and snow falling incidents since the last three days resulting in complete blockade in the border areas of Uttarakhand adjoining the China n Nepal border. Rana castigates state govt for extending no financial help to the 13 yr old rape survivor

While the nation celebrates the International Women’s Day, crime against women like obnoxious rapes and sexual molestations have almost become the order of the day with the graph of shameful rapes and subsequent molestations on the steady rise.

This seems to be disgusting. While the capital like Delhi is not able to control this increasing menace despite the best efforts of police, law enforcing agencies, NGOs, women bodies and powers that be, even the state symbolising itself as the land of abode of Gods like Uttarakhand is badly in the grip of this menace. The reason being that 90% of such cases of rapes take place in the same vicinity of the victim through her close accquaintance or those known to her like the neighbours, friends and the near and dear ones, even teachers.

But what is more horrifying is the fact that the cases of rapes of the incest and adoloscense are also on the rise with majority of the incidents not being reported due to the social stigma attached as parents are scared of disclosing such incidents for being outcasted from the society or with the fear of confronting problems in marrying them in future.

One such shockingly horrifying case was witnessed in Nainbagh, Garhwal, Uttarakhand about six months ago where a poor and haplesss girl of just thirteen years of age and student of class tenth in a local school was repeatedly raped by her own teacher who finally gave birth to an infant who is now six months old. The culprit teacher is behind the bars after being caught and medically examined.

There is every possibility of the culprit getting stringent sentence for life. The victim who belongs to a poor family has a doomed future with a six month old daughter having no source of income and resources to tame the future of the new born.

The former minister of Uttarakhand, a sports promotor and father of the international shooter Jaspal Rana, Narayan Singh Rana is currently trying to help the rape survivor with every possible financial help and other modes of support. She being an adoloscent had give up her education in between and her academic career badly affected.

In the absense of any monetory suport and social stigma attached, the victimised rape survivor is in acute socio financial doldrums with nobody except the former minister and sport enthusiast Narayan Singh Rana at their service, with financial support as a responsible elder.

In such cases of adoloscent rapes the department of women and child welfare, the state women commission, child welfare committees and the NGOs should wholeheartedly come forward to help the distressed victims with the maximum financial compensation including counselling to make the rape victim more confident to shape her future life with hope and optimism.

After the dreaded Nirbhaya episode in Delhi in 2012/13 the government of India had launched a Nirbhaya fund to come to the aid of rape survivors, The Nirbhaya Fund which started from Rs 1000 crores is now worth of Rs. 4000 crores.

If it can’t come to the rescue of such rape survivors that what’s the use of launching the fund and publiscising so much about it to gain political mileage. In India, particularly in rural areas, there are hundreds of thousands of such cases of rapes with incests and adoloscents with majority of the cases, either going unreported or not taken care of by the authorities, concerned. The rape survivors have no option but to remain confided within four walls resigned to their fate. The case of the 13 year old rape survivor of Nainbagh, Garhwal, Uttarakhand suffering for survival, is enough to bring home the point that the Nirbhaya Fund Corpus is just a name sake and nothing more.

The central and state governments should devise a law to take the entire responsibility of the survival and career making of the rape survivor and her children in their hands or adequately compensate them, financially so as to enable them stand on their feet, confidently. What do you say friends?

Rs1 lakh crore of public exchequer at God’s will. Will be recovered or not, is anybody’s guess?

Read Time: 3 minutes

The revelation of about hundreds of private companies and corporates being the willful defaulters having put to loss a staggering amount of one lakh crore or even more during the last few decades not returning the same intentionally though many of them could have done so, unambiguously speaks of the fact that these heavy defaulters are in league with the powerful people in the system and had conveniently managed to siphon off such a huge amount of the public exchequer without any fear or terror of law.

Just imagine, on the one hand thousands of farmers had committed suicides in our country and are still doing so for not being able to repay just a few lakhs or thousands of rupees due to genuine drought or short rain cycle that results in the subsequent production losses and on the other hand the rich, affluent and the privileged corporate houses and industrialists willfully hang on the lakhs of crores of government money thus not only making mockery of our system but leading the country towards economic backwardness.

But the question is, who is to be actually blamed for this huge lapse, the government agencies, the banks or the corporates/ industrialists. The answer is simple, all the three of them. There have been hundreds of instances that the goons and bouncers of banks and financiers find it too easy to harrass, victimise and even thrash the farmers, youths, students and even woman and forcibly take back/ consficate their financed vehicles, tracters etc for the failure to pay even few inslalments due to some genuine constraints but in the case of these powerful and highly rich the system falls on their feet, obnoxiously, at the expense of the nation’s interest.

It really sounds shocking and higly deplorable that Vijay Mallaya, Nirav and Lalit Modi flee the country after duping banks of several thousand crores and so are many others and now a new shocking revelation comes that hundreds of such sharks have willfully defaulted the government of more than one lakh crores of rupees, the massive amount that could have resolved the financial crisis of 80% of our farmers and resurrected the health related conditions of our country’s 90% of the population having covered them under insurance umbrella of social and health security.

Why is it that we’ve been tolerating these economic offenders for so long knowing very well that its a hard earned tax payers money of public exchequer. Why is it that the economic offences wing, the CBDT, the ED, the IT department and departments like revenue intelligence didn’t take any action. And why is it that now the skeletons are being explored, diclosed and made to fall down from the cupboards, daily?

The point is clear. The national election are nearing and the people of the country need an answer made during the pre polls, four years ago. Hope the government of the day succeeds in retrieving this one lakh crore at the earliest and uses it justifiably for the welfare of the farmers and the underprivileged sections of the society. If not now it will really, never be in the future? What’s your take friends?

SAHARANPUR , A PLOY TO SIDELINE GAIRSAIN ISSUE

Published

on

Spread the love
Read Time: 5 minutes

While the demand for Gairsain to be declared as the new permanent capital is on the high peak with the myriad number of protest demonstrations in various parts of Uttarakhand still continuing the chief minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat has by raising and outrightly supporting the controvertial issue of Saharanpur to be annexed with the 18 year old state has further added a new dimension to this already disputed matter, being opposed by one and all.

After the delimitation of the MLA constituencies on the basis of the population there is already a lot of hue and cry n annoyance in the general public, particularly those hailing from the interior areas of Uttarakhand as the MLA constitiencies of the hill areas have already decreased considerably thus giving less representation to the hill areas in the state assembly. If by chance the issue of annexation of Saharanpur fructifies not only will the representation of the plains increase manifold in the state assembly but will also result in the diversion of the maximum hill developmental budget to the areas of the plains.

In the absense of the adequate decentralized socio, economic, industrial, agricultural, educational and health related development and job avenues in the interiors of the hill state there have been tremendous uncontrollable migration to the cities, towns and the metropolises and if Saharanpir also comes under the official jurisdiction of Uttarakhand one can imagine what will happen to the already squeezed development of the interior villages thus outrightly defeating the actual purpose and concept for which Uttarakhand was carved out of Uttar Pradesh after so much of sacrifices.

While the government of the day is still silent of the real and heart touching issues like Gairsain capital which would truly symbolise the decentralised over all development of the state, the new issue of possible annexation of Saharanpur to UK would undoubtedly further add to the already existing woes and miseries of the hill people. Some political analysts say that the issue of Shaharanpur is a calculated ploy of the current BJP government to sideline the hot issue of Gairsain capital thus diverting the peoples’ attention to the not so relevant issue of Saharanpur.

When the BJP government assumed power in the state with a resounding and historic majority it was felt that it will go by the overwhelmning mandate of the hill people who’d reposed complete faith on them but instead majority of the peoples’ demand like Gairsain and Pancheshwar Dam are being put in cold storage pre strategically and in order to divert their attention from the core issues such as above and jobs including improving of the health sector the party in power seems to be more interested in controvertial irrelevant issues like Saharanpur’s annexation to UK and raising funding for their party etc.

Today, the people of Uttarakhand are curiously looking forward towards employment generation in the state and improvement in the ovetall socio economic conditions of its youths, students, women, agricultural, health and educational sectors but the state reeling under the financial deficit of more than forty thousand crotes seems to be little interested in these core pro people issue than raising the controvertial anti people Saharanpur issue.

Sounds shocking and outrageous. There is lot of talks and assurances of improving of Yatra Marg to Kedarnath n other religious shrines and likely construction of all weather roads at the cost of the whopping central budget of 12500 crores but will this development not make our already fragile mountains more hollow and prone to ecological and natural disasters with 40 thousand full grown trees to be felled. Nobody is against development but people require eco friendly development not eco damaging development.

The tunnel being built till Kedarnath to ease the movement of pilgrims at the whopping cost of Rs. 1342 crores will not only make the hill hollow from inside but also make them prone to earthquakes and other disasters in the offing, says a senior journalist and analyst Umakant Lakhera in one of his FB post apart from incurring such a huge cost from the tax payers money. It would be in the interest of the whole state if the chief minister reaches to the people of the state to develop consensus and unanimity on the pivotal issue of bringing Saharanpur into Uttarakhand’s fold than to make unilateral statements inviting widespred criticisms.

If the people of the state go with his decision, its fine otherwise we should in all earnestness give up this irrelevant issue as Uttarakhand is already running under huge debt crisis and its people in jeopardy. The CM Trivendra Singh Rawat is a venerable personality and as such he should first take the inhabitants of UK into confidence before arriving at some definite conclusion on this significant issue. What’s your transparent take on this article. I leave it on your wisdom.
