The political morale of the workers and the leaders in Uttarakhand is extremely high these days as the Modi undercurrent is literally influencing the electorates in the hills and the valleys of this nineteen year old himalayan state.

The saffron party candidates in all the five constituencies of Uttarakhand are finding themselves too fortunate to have been selected as BJP nominees.

Where ever you go in public meetings n mass contact programmes, slogans like Har Har Modi, Ghar Ghar Modi, Namo Namo are renting the air.

It seems as if it’s the same Modi wave which existed in 2014 in this himalayan state is existing today as well.

What equals this election with the previous general election of 2014 in Uttarakhand is the fact that majority of the people of all sections of the society are voting for Modi than the BJP, thus making it the contest between PM Modi and rest of the Congress candidates.

So far we’ve talked to more than two hundred electorates privately, at different places of different constituencies, in villages n roadsides to ascertain their views as to which sides they are tilting but were surprised to find a single answer of unambiguous Modi support, come what may.

The voters are not prepared to listen anything negative against him and they rate the PM as their first n only unstinted choice.

Even the inefficiencies and ineffectiveness of the state’s BJP govt and its chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat hardly restricts them to vote for BJP.

Their straight away answer is only Modi n nothing else. The under current is so intense n unquestionable that illeterate women, senior citizens, women, youths and students are literally committed to vote for the saffron party candidates in majority of the constituencies saying that they may vote for Congress in 2022 in the state assembly elections but at the centre, Narendra Modi is their only n first undisputed choice. Even the contractors, liquor, land and building mafias as well as the trading community have sided with the saffron party seeing the sure sort victory of the ruling party candidates.

The crowds in the meetings of BJP candidates compared to Congress nominees in the fray is tremendous with women n youngsters dominating the scene. The crowd of anxious pro BJP  voters is swelling day by day.

The Modi factor is so dominant n prominent that the BJP workers display themselves amongst the people in the meetings wearing Modi’s ” colourful masks in order to influence the voters n raising pro Modi n party slogans.

The Congress party n its candidates on its part are doing their best to convince the electorates but are finding it difficult to gather reasonable crowds at public n corner meetings except the workers accompanying the candidates.

There are five parliamentary constituencies in Uttarakhand viz Pauri Garhwal, Tehri Garhwal, Nainital, Almora and Haridwar.

While the son of former Uttarakhand CM n BJP MP Major general Khanduri’s son Manish Khanduri is contesting from Pauri on Congress ticket against the BJP’s Tirath Singh Rawat, from Tehri Garhwal constituency,  it’s BJP sitting MP Maharani Rajya Lakhmi verses Congress’s Pritam Singh, the PCC chief of Uttarakhand. Independent candidate Gopalmani is the third candidate fighting on Cow protection n Ganga purification planks.

In Nainital, the contest is between former CM Harish Rawat of Congress and the BJP’s state chief Ajay Bhatt.

Almora witnesses a direct fight between state textile minister at the centre and the sitting Rajya Sabha MP Pradeep Tamta of Congress while in Haridwar, the contest is between BJP’s sitting MP Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank n Ambrish Kumar of Congress.

The prime minister Narendra Modi’s public meeting at Rudrapur was a grand success keeping in view the attendence of thousands of people and the exitement amongst them to support PM Modi n his candidate Ajay Bhatt.

The Uttarakhand election seems to be one sided with a massive saffron party undercurrent in the name of Modi.

The Congress candidates are trying their best to counter the massive saffron undercurrent but are finding it an uphill task keeping in view the massive Modi wave.

The Congress chief Rahul Gandhi’s political footing n acceptence in Uttarakhand is in total jeopardy whereas prime minister Narendra Modi’s popularity and adoration amongst the people is on the unquestionable high. If the trend continues, may be, the BJP wins on all the five seats of Uttarakhand or at the most it may become 3-2, but possibilities seem to be bleak.

Factionalism within the Congress in all the constituencies of the hills is also a factor that diminishes its chances towards triumphs against the saffron party candidates already in advantageous position due to immense hindu polarisation on Ram Mandir issue, ultra nationalism n Modi charisma.

Meanwhile prime minister Modi is likely address a meeting in Srinagar Garhwal followed by many more on 6th April whereas Congress chief Rahul Gandhi is likely to addresses a public meeting on 3rd in Pauri Garhwal district. Amit Shah too is to address several public meetings. The conspicuous absence of Priyanka Gandhi in Uttarakhand is the hugest loss for Congress.
