Gandhi is still alive today

In 1948 nobody was awarded noble peace prize as in the noble history and rule award cannot be conferred posthumously. According to the noble award committee “there was no suitable living candidate that year”. After 50 years in 1989, when the Tibetan monk Dalai Lama was awarded the noble peace prize and rightly stated by the concerned committee that “this award is a tribute to  Mahatma Gandhi”

Coming back to our topic, every time I heard about “If Gandhi was alive today” what could have the current perspective and scenario. But let me put it in a straight forward manner Gandhi still alive today in his thoughts, beliefs and heavenly activities. Without his principles and policies, India could not have survived in difficult and critical times. Supporting Gandhi could have raised many of us eyebrows but to substantiate the argument, let us check following the father of nation’s cardinal principles. If he was alive today———————-

  • His life would be a series of fasts against lynching people in the name of the cow.
  • He would protest against being reduced to a mascot of Swachh Bharat, while his main teaching of amity among people of different faiths was violated, when not ignored.
  • He would be prosecuted for sedition, jailed and finally released by the Supreme Court.
  • He would propagate a line from the Ramayana that the proper dwelling place of Ram is the minds of good people, not any physical place, leave alone a particular temple.
  • He would both cheer the decline in the share of Indians who are poor and deplore the political class turning its back on his essential criterion for cost-benefit analysis of any scheme or project, whether it would help the daridranarayan, the poor.
  • He would be aghast at the proliferation of godmen and godwomen.
  • If Sarojini Naidu complained about the cost of keeping Gandhi in poverty, Gandhi today would be flabbergasted by the money collected by politicians in his name and by the gap between what is collected and what finally is spent on his upkeep.
  • He would laugh out loud at the irony of his portrait in Parliament House in the company of the portrait of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, a co-accused in the Gandhi assassination case.
  • He would recall his own observation that the world has enough for everyone’s need but not for everyone’s greed, and launch a campaign to limit consumption around the world, and plunge himself into the campaign against climate change and strengthening the concept of sustainable development.
  • The chatur bania that he is, he would approve of GST in principle, but launch a second Dandi march against its high, multiple rates, complex rules, and delayed refunds.
  • Having recognized long ago that customer is king, he would approve of advances in CRM(customer relationship management).
  • He would open a You-Tube channel, start a daily podcast and write a regular blog.
  • To see no evil and hear no evil, he would boycott watching news TV.
  • He would decline the Bharat Ratna and Bharat Param Ratna awards the government tries to give him. He would not be swayed by the offer of a Bharat Param Pujya Ratna.

In a democratic setup, the theory of democratic decentralization and co-operative federalism are the mainstays of the development. Gandhi always advocated the idea of village development which why today we have the Panchyati Raj system in India. And again, Non-violence and truth are such invisible weapons which cannot be ignored and avoided any democratic nation and we must not forget India is the largest democratic country in all over the world.

Restoring communal harmony is one of the biggest issues for the bureaucracy and MR M.K Gandhi contribution in this regard cannot be discarded at any means. India is like a river which accommodates all the religion be it Hindu, Buddhism, Jainism, Muslim, Sikhs or Christian like the tributaries in the timeline. This country is served by multi linguals,multi-cultures, multi-ethnic and multi tribes because it is a land of Gandhi which teaches us secularism and communal harmony. Whatever brutal forces can come on its way it is difficult to disintegrate the strong philosophy and preamble of the nation.

Nowadays people marred and tarnished the image of Bapu by the criticism that India lacking the skill and ability to fight against corruption, enemy and alien forces because the freedom was felicitated by Gandhi, not by Subhas Bose. Here comes the concept of satyagraha which speaks about of holding onto truth or truth force, this is the best weapon we can make the demise of our internal enemies like corruption and dishonesty and the external forces such as enemy and alien forces as most of the time the enemy is stronger and powerful than us. By passive or civil resistance, like the Britishers, they can be driven away.

Time has come to commemorate the history which reminds us of the supreme sacrifice of Mahatma and his followers. No country in this world cannot thrive without a rich culture and history. All over the world, more than 300 statues are present to honor the supreme soul but we have forgotten to give him the right position. Whatever may be the protests against his philosophy and deed he is still alive in the form of the Mandelas, Dalai Limas and not to forget Obamas.

The way current scenarios are linked to Gandhian ideologies is awesome. But i couldn’t understand what is the link between India doesn’t have enough skills and ability to fight corruption, and felicitate Gnadhi instead of Bose for freedom. Could you elaborate??

Dear Sir,first of all thanks for valuable suggestion. U have raised two doubts or may be queries.one is fighting against corruption. According to Bapu truth and non violence are such weapons which can be used in many ways.if you see in India every third person is corrupted or connected directly or indirectly to corruption.they are always avoiding truth and lacking inner purity. We have brought so many acts such as lokpal etc but still facing the menace of corruption.Similary coming to bapu instead of netaji for achieving freedom.I am great admirer of Netaji but During the freedom struggle and especially second world war, netaji main allies are Japan and Germany. Both are badly defeated by the alliance forces including Britan.Yes Indian people could not support the same way as they did to Mahatma. But let me suggest you when the British defeated India during sepoy mutiny, one of the causes except political and administrative reasons is modernization of weapon.similarly netaji was lacking latest weapons and techongly to sustain the fight against mighty Britishers.thanks.

Definitely the corruption is the main problem in India and it can only be removed, if all the 1.2billion people denied to give any bribe or in other ways as mentioned by you previously. But, the question arises now, when Netaji fought a war with Britishers(mentioned by you earlier)?? As we all know that he almost reach Burma with INA(Indian National Army). Before he took any further steps there was a sad news of his death(which is still a mystry). We know that it’s the trial of INA soldiers which ignited the armed forces of India(which is the backbone of Britishers) and forced them to leave in 1947 instead of 1948.It’s always less when you praise Gandhi for his contribution to India freedom Struggle but don’t you think that our books which we read from childhood are dominated by Gandhi and very little attention to Netaji?? Thank you…

u are mentioning about INA mutiny ,which is not the only reason for India to achieve freedom. It can be one of the reasons.Coming back to Indian books,u can share the source,so that we can learn the reason for Britishers to leave India.thanks for sharing the information.
