Soni Razdaan believes she gave daughter Alia Bhatt ‘middle-class’ upbringing

Alia Bhatt is a superstar today. Her entry in Bollywood too was like a superstar. Everybody around knew that she was Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter who made a glamorous entry in Bollywood movies as ‘Shanaya’ in Student Of The Year. Her mother Soni Razdan however stresses that Alia got a ‘middle-class upbringing’.
Talking about Alia Bhatt, Soni Razdan told India Today in an interview, “I did not bring up my child to think that she was a star. If I had treated her any differently, it would have messed everything up. She was brought up normally, like other kids. In a normal house, and it was a normal middle-class life.

Soni is Mahesh Bhatt’s second wife. They are blessed with two daughters – Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt. While Alia is an actor like Soni, Shaheen prefers staying behind the camera like her father and she is a writer. For the uninitiated, Soni and Alia worked together in Raazi. Soni played Alia’s mother in the film too. On wanting to work with her daughter again, Soni mentioned, “We would be happy to work with each other. Nobody has offered us anything yet.”
When asked about Ranbir Kapoor, Soni had previously told BollywoodLife, “It’s her personal life. Ranbir is a lovely boy. I think whoever Alia has dated before or will date, (it) is her choice and her life. I’ll always support her but I don’t think I should discuss this you know. It’s not right on my part to discuss (her personal life) in public. As a mom, I’m just happy if she is happy.”
