545 students set a Guinness world record by skating nonstop for 48 hours in Belgaum, Karnataka. The Shivaganga Skating club organised the largest roller skating session on November 10, 2018 in which skaters from Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh took part. Out of the 545 students, 200 were from Mumbai’s Skating Academy of India.
The Shivganga Skating club had earlier organised the largest Khelo India Multi-Activities Skating Marathon for 72 hours, wherein 382 participants covered 8,232 laps on a 200-metre-long skating track. It started on May 31, 2018 and ended on June 3, 2018 at the Shivganga Roller Skating Club, Belgaum.
Mohit Bajaj, who trained the students from Mumbai said, “All the students performed really well. They were enthusiastic and quickly grasped all that was taught. Before performing at Belgaum, they had been practising for three months. My students had even participated in the Khelo India multi-activities marathon for 72 hours and had performed extremely well. I was confident that they will do well in this event too.”

“Seeing their name in the Guinness Book of World Records isn’t a small thing. They have worked really hard and have made us all proud,” Bajaj added.
One of the students with whom DNA spoke is 9-year-old Aditi Sante from Mumbai’s Sunrise International School. Sante said, “I used to practise for 2 hours daily and have never missed any session. It was my love for skating that helped me make my parents and coach proud.
