Indian Football team grabbed highest FIFA ranking in 6 years

The Indian football team has achieved its best FIFA ranking this time which it was not able to achieve in the last 6 years. It is a great achievement by the Indian football team because it has jumped 11 rankings and now it is on 137^th position according to the latest list released today.

This time India has defeated Puerto Ricco who is at 114^th rank in an International friendly match held in Mumbai and garnered 230 points.

Last time in 2010 India was at the position of 137^th rank which it has achieved again in 2016 and till now this is the highest rank which Indian football team has been able to achieve and it needs to go far.

Indian National coach, Stephen Constantine seems happy with the performance of the team and said that when he came over for his second stint, one of his tasks was to improve the FIFA rankings and with the results so far it is clear that we have succeeded.

He further said that it was a team effort as the AIFF President Praful Patel and General Secretary Kushal Das provided their support and had confidence in the team, they also allowed him to do the things in his own ways.

He seemed very confident about the recent performance of the team and confidently said that it is just the beginning of the long term plan which we envisage for Indian Football. He is certainly not over the moon as he feels his team can achieve much more.

Coach Constantine has made some changes in the team recruitment and the best change which affected the team performance was that he reduced the average age from around 34 to 24 which is very significant indeed and the results are also visible.
