Ayodhya case will not be taken up for hearing by the five-judge constitution bench of the Supreme Court on January 29. According to reports, the Ayodhya case hearing starting from January 29 has been cancelled due to the non-availability of Justice SA Bobde.

The new date for the Ayodhya case hearing has not been decided yet.

Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi has recently reconstituted the 5-member bench to hear the case. The new bench will be headed by CJI Ranjan Gogoi and comprises Justices SA Bobde, D Y Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and SA Nazeer. Justice N V Ramana, who was part of the previous bench, has been excluded from the new bench.

The Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit was earlier postponed from January 10 after Justice UU Lalit recused himself from hearing the case.

Minutes before hearing in the Ayodhya matter was cancelled, Yog Guru Ramdev had asked the government to take a initiative for the construstion a Ram temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya

“Either Supreme Court or government should do something for the construction (of Ram temple. There aren’t many possibilities of a quick judgement by the court, so I think that the government should take an initiative,” he said.

On Saturday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said people’s “patience” on the issue of Ram temple is “fast running out” and if the Supreme Court is unable to give an early verdict on the dispute, it should “hand it over to us” and it will be resolved within 24 hours.
