TikTok app has come again on the Google Play store and Apple app store . The app can again be downloaded and used without any limitations, unlike a few days back. The video creating app was removed by both Google and Apple from Play store and App store, respectively, after Madras High Court put a prohibition on the download of the TikTok app mid of this month.

The ban on downloads has now been removed by the HC.
The app was disallowed from download after southern Tamil Nadu state court told the government that it supports pornography, particularly child pornography. The court also mentioned that the TikTok app has made child users vulnerable to sexual predators. The decision to ban the download of the app after an individual launched public interest legal action calling for a ban.
As per an IT ministry official soon after the government sent a letter to Apple and Google to obey the state court’s order.
After a week the Madras HC removed the ban from the app and said that the court is only worried about crimes against children and India doesn’t have laws like the US COPPA to protect children in cyberspace. Then HC had said that the TikTok app will be available for download from Play Store/ App Store very soon. The app is now back on the Play store and the App store.

Remarking on the issue, TikTok has informed the Court that it has used technology to ensure that nude/obscene content can’t be uploaded on the app. Bytedance, TikTok’s owner said that the company has been eliminating or banning obscene content from the platform from July 2018. The same statement mentioned that TikTok has around 0.00006% of obscene content and the company is already in process of removing them from the platform.
