Just see how badly the level and character of politics has gone down these days. Though everybody know that its usualley called the last game of a scoundrels. People of the country are constantly reducing their faith in politicians as their character and style of functioning is not only allegedly uncalled for but dubious as well. It’s not that all politicians are bad, immoral or corrupt.
There are good, ethical and principled politicians as well but their number is negligible or comparitively less as compared to those with allegedly dubious nature or character these days and there is literally abundance of those politicians who can be counted in the dubious catagory. This speaks of the degrading standards of principled, transparent, honest and morally oriented politicians right from the top echelons of power to the lowest ebb. There is no dearth of politicians with criminal backgrounds, having number of FIRs registered against them in cases pertaining to murders, corruption, involvement in sexual scandals, riots, scams, communal flare ups and so on and so forth. And what is more worrisome is the fact that they are are decorating the prestige of our state and central legislatures as well to a certain percentage.
Anyways, what is being said here is nothing unusual, the entire nation knows about it. But what would we say when our such future KARNDHAARS, our inspirational leaders laugh and smile while paying homage to the deadly victims of riots in the country. This seems to be very interesting though shocking and anguishing too.
The news pertains to the incident of homage paying to one of the deceased of Kasganj riots and is carried in several newspapers of UP including one of the best selling Hindi Daily called Dainik Jagran. The title of the news is: The shamlessness has crossed limits: Even in the meeting to pay heartfelt tributes, the BJPites kept laughing.
This is the incident of Meerut where a SHRADHANJALI SABHA , meeting to pay respectful tributes to a young man who unfortunately died in Kasganj riots was organised . In the meeting organised by the lical unit of BJP, a demand for sanctioning 50 lakh Rupees of compensation for the family of the deceased was made from the state government led by chief minister Yogi Aditya Nath. The condolense meeting was organised at Chipi Tank Shiv Park in Meerut.
Those who joined this condolense meeting prominently included the Meerut Cantt MLA Satya Prakash Aggrawal, President of the Meerut Sanyukt Vyapar Sangh Navin Gupta, Vijendra Aggrawal, Arun Vashisht and Neeraj Tyagi etc.
But to the utter dismay, surprise and shock of all those present : these responsible leaders were literally laughing while paying their so called heartfelt tributes to the deceased died in the Kasganj riots. Instead of exhibiting their genuine shock, grief and anguish being the responsible citizen and an elected representative the lawmaker alongwith the other local leaders were seen laughing as if its not a condolense meeting but an ocsssion of celebration. What a shocking mockery.
Not only this but to keep a two minutes silence in honour of the deceased the organisers have to do tremendous efforts. This is the fate of the deceased in the eyes of these politicians belonging to the ruling political party at the centre and in the largest state of the country Uttar Pradesh.
What a hypocrisy. Shocking to say so. The Dainik Jagran picture unambiguously shows these leaders in laughing posture while lightening the lamp in honour of the deceased to express their grief and tributes towards a dead man. Is this the decency and culture we are inculcating in us ? Shame.

New multi storey building comes up at Kaka’s sprawling Bungalow Ashirvad’s place in Mumbai
A multistoreyed building has come up in place of Vardaan Ashirvad, the one time magnificient bungalow of the original and only Superstar of the millenium Rajesh Khanna, as recognised by billions of his fans globally. This new multistorey building near completion belongs to the owner Shashi Shetty, executive chairman of Mumbai based Allcargo Logistics who purchased Ashirvad from Kaka’s family after his sad demise for merely Rs 95 crores which was then quoted as the under rated price of the 6,500 square foot sea facing bungalow situated at Carter Road, Mumbai.
The abrupt sale of the Bungalow was the result of the then ongoing feud between Anita Advani (with whom the late star had a live in relationship) and the family of Rajesh Khanna, as the later were apprehensive about the valuable property. Anita had then claimed that the part proceeds of the sale of the property be given to her which was however denied by the court.
Ashirvaad was the Super star’s most likened Bungalow which he wanted to be converted into a memorial but after its demolition the super star of the millenium’s dreams have been razed to ground by his own family whom he loved so much. Ashirvaad was Kaka’s dream come true when he bought “Dimple” the earlier name of Ashirvaad for about 6 lakh rupees from the then popular hero Rajendra Kumar aka Jubilee Kumar who thought that it’s unlucky for him. Kaka was very fond of this house on whose main upper drawing room entrance he very lovingly fixed the huge picture decently framed consisting of Late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi voting for him in New Delhi alongwith Sonia Gandhi n him. A classic picture, the original negative of which was procured by me from one of the photo journalists of a leading Delhi paper after Kaka’s insistence.
Kaka named it Ashirvaad and felt it lucky for him as it was his stay here that since then his elevation as a Super star got a new flight. Kaka signed Hathi Mere Sathi exclusively to pay the advance money to Rajender Kumar which was Kaka’s precondition to sign the movie.
It was here that Kaka’s white Cheverolet/ Impala used to be kissed by hundreds of college going girls to convert it in a red or pink colour. It was here during his hey days as super star that a long bee line of Bollywoods director/ producers was formed to sign him for their movies. It was this house that saw Dimple’s exit after fued with Kaka. It was here that he was blessed with two lovely daughters. It was here that his one time lover besides Anju Mahendru, Tina Munim lived for several years and it was this very historic Ashivaad which once existed and where Kaka breathed his last on the black day of 16th July 2012 at the age of 70/71.
Today, Ashirvad is non existent leaving behind hundreds of memoroes of his hey days as the Super star of Millenium who made an outstanding mark in hundreds of films giving more than 25 super duper hits and still ruling the hearts of billions of his fans globally by his extraordinay and mesmerising histrionics.
A legend who never dies: He is none else but Rajesh Khanna ! I was also lucky enough to be at Ashirvad once and have the fragrance of its facinating environs while I was associated this towering film legend as his media advisor who considered me his younger brother, earnestly.
According to Bhupesh Raseen my close friend who remained in Kaka’s close proximity during n before his last days say:
Whenever I am in Mumbai, I just want to be there at “Aashirwad”, Carter Road where I have spent lot of time & many times stayed together with big brother, Rajesh Khanna ji.. While writing this post, I am still there opp. Aashirwad….. Missing Kaka ji badly..
Now there is no more “Aashirwad”. Present status of Aashirwad as per the below picture (today at 1:46 PM). ( picture of a new building with blue cover clicked by Bhupesh Raseen)
What’s your take, friends?
Bhoolie Bisree Yadein/ Memories of the nineties with super star turned politician Rajesh Khanna
Bhoolee Bisree Yadein/Down the memory lane
This picture is also of the nineties after the Uttarkashi earthquake of Garhwal, Uttarakhand.
I remember, those days, there was a usual trend of sending the relief materials to the earthquake affected villages of Uttarkashi, not only from the various nook n corners of the country but also from abroad. This natural disaster, an earthquake claimed several lives and led to colossal loss of properties and economy . DELHI being the capital of India was also in the forefront to dispatch maximum relief material to the victims and their families of this Himalayan Zone Uttarakashi, Chama village financially n in kind.
As a sequel to this, Mr. Ramesh Dutta, the then municipal councillor(Gandhi cap) from Minto Road Delhi and Rajesh Khanna’s ardent follower and a very humorous politician as well, arranged a truck full of relief materials like food stuffs, medicines and clothes for Uttarkashi villagers n invited Rajesh Khanna, the then New Delhi MP to flagoff the vehicle from Lajpat Nagar, Delhi.
Since I was looking after Kaka’ s media n political affairs, I usually ocompanied him in meetings n functions and as such, was there on that day as well having accompanied him from his house.
It may be recalled that the first and original super star of India Rajesh Khanna joined active politics on the personel inviation of the prime minister Rajiv Gandhi whom Kaka respected and adored too much. It was his long cherished dream to enter parliament as an MP n then become minister but after his political mentor’s death everything failed.
Prior to joining active politics Kaka did 106 solo hero films of which 97 got released between 1967 and 2013. He acted in only 22 films with multi-star cast. 82 of the 127 films with Khanna as the lead protagonist (of them 117 released and 11 unreleased) were critically acclaimed films with ratings above 4 stars out of 5 by film reviewers of various newspapers unanimously.
Rajesh Khanna aka Kaka made his debut in 1966 with Aakhri Khat. During his career he appeared in more than 168 feature films and 12 short films. He received the Filmfare Best Actor Award three times and the BFJA Awards for Best Actor (Hindi) four times. In 1991, he was awarded the Filmfare Special Award for achieving the feat of doing the most solo hero films in Hindi Cinema and in 2005, he received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award. He was the highest paid Indian actor from 1970 to 1987 whereas Amitabh Bachchan shared the same tag with Khanna from 1980 to 1987.
Kaka was also a Lok Sabha member of the Indian National Congress from New Delhi (Lok Sabha constituency) from 1992 to 1996.
He married Dimple Kapadia in March 1973, eight months before her debut film Bobby was released and had two daughters from the marriage. Their elder daughter Twinkle Khanna is married to actor Akshay Kumar, while they also have a younger daughter Rinke Khanna.
Rajesh Khanna met his sad demise on 18 July 2012, after suffering from severe liver ailment. Kaka has been posthumously awarded India’s third highest civilian honour, Padma Bhushan. On 30 April 2013 he was bestowed the title First Superstar of Indian cinema at the Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards. He has also been honored with a stamp and statue in his likeness, and a road being renamed after him. (WP)
Seen in the picture is Kakaji interacting with me ( in beard) n others include Ramesh Dutta, councillor, Naresh Juneja n volunteers of the social organistion Swabhimani Welfare Society.

OLD MEMORIES DIE HARD. WHEN KAKA GAVE INTERVIEW TO A REPORTER AT 2.00 AM AT HIS VASANT KUNJ FLAT
Today, I am again feeling like writing on Kakaji, Rajesh Khanna the super star of millenium.
An actor par excellence, unparalleled, real first super star with outstandingly mesmerising personality, a unique and stylish legend of Bollywood who carried behind him an era and still fresh in everybody’s mind blossoming like a fresh rose never ever to be erased from the minds and hearts of his billions of Indian fans globally.
Kaka was Kaka, a true phenomena of Bollywood, a legend forever. I was lucky enough to have been in close proximity with him for at least a decade and thereafter as well, till he left for his eternal home.
Kaka was kind, warm hearted, humane, generous, as fragile emotionally as a child and as strong as a determined soldier on our borders fighting the enemy under odd situations and circumstances.
Kaka did about 225 films and gave several super duper hits, silver, golden and diamond jubiliees.
A heart throb of billions KAKAS’ never die. They are always immortal. I have had several ocassions to dine and drink with him, to share his Dunhill cigarettes and accompany him in hundreds of events and meetings.
It was quite obvious being his media advisor while he was the Congress party’s contestent and thereafter while he was an elected MP.
He had tremendous love and respect for those whom he loved from the core of his heart and I feel myself to be one of the luckiest.
There are number of personel experiences I had, while being in his close company.
Though he was a superstar till the end with his priorities and protocol fixed but would often compromise his flamboyance n personal protocols for friends like me.
Kakaji considered me as his brother than anything else and he would often give the proof of this relationship while introducing me to his colleagues say: ye mere chote bhai ki tarah hai. Jitna Negi ne mere liye kiya main kabhi bhoon nahi sakta. WOW.
I remember, in 1992 when Kaka filed the nomination papers against Shatrughan Sinha from New Delhi he came back tired to his Vasant Kunj residence and was closeted with his family Dimple, Twinkle and Rinki who had arrived the very evening from.Mumbai.
It was the midnight time. The leaders and supporters of Congress party who followed him till Vasant Kunj were slowly leaving the place and by then it was 1.00 am or even more.
I came down his house after bidding good night to Kakaji. Meanwhile, a young handsome reporter of Statesman who had been following all along namely Sanjay Kaw, now the bureau chief of The Asian Age met me who was desperate enough to interview Kaka.
He repeatedly requested me to arrange an interview. I was shocked. It was 2. 00 AM by that time and Kaka was all tired having booz and involved with his family upstairs.
Kaka’s security would not allow anyone to go upstairs and meet him as he had already asked not to allow anyone in.
I was in tizzy, what to do and what not. Being his media advisor, I do not want to annoy the reporter friend as well. I said wait.
I’ll try, thinking it’s neigh to impossible. I anyhow managed to talk to Kakaji who arrogantly sad Negi what r u talking? It’s 2 am now. I insisted and said that it will appear in the front page of statesman and would be useful from.the publicity angle. Kaka asked : How is it possible?
I said the newspaper has been stooped for print only for your interview. Kaka though angry and not in a mood could’nt annoy me and gave a green signal. I informed Sanjay Kaw. Happily and thrilled Sanjay went upstairs and interviwed Kaka in the mid of the night in the presence of Dimple Khanna and also introduced him to his star wife and children Twinkle n Rinki.
Sanjay Kaw was really a high spirited journalist who never lost hope and was credited to be the first young journalist to interview him after filing of the nomination papers at 2.00 AM and got it published on the front page of statesman to the surprise of KAKA, the next morning.
Sanjay had especially requested his editor to keep the print of the first page delayed. He went to office at 5 30 AM, filed the interview and the story and surprised everyone.
I appreciate KAKA’s kind gesture and generosity to acede to my request and give the interview at 2.00 AM despite his booz consuming time and being busy with his family who’d come from Mumbai the very dayn badly tired as well.
So generous and affectionate was KAKA for his friends or media who could spare time for an interview at the mid of the night despite his being badly tired.
Kaka was a very good human being despite his towering personality.
Once I was with Kaka all alone in his Vasany Kunj Druplex flat. Again a midnight. We drank. Kaka served me food. We sat together on the carpetted floor. Kaka served the food with his own hands. Compelled me to eat enough and would not let me do anything. That night I slept in his flat being too late.
He was truly a generous and a man with hospitability. Can you imagine Kaka taking out mutton and other stuff from he fridge. Heating them in the oven. Then immaculately bringing them on tray and serving me most affectionately. Amazing moments indeed.
I’ll be sharing with you many more personal experiences with him in the future.
OLD MEMORIES DIE HARD… Kaka the great!
These two pictures are of 1992 and 1994. One is of the meeting held outside the NDMC building near Jantar Mantar and another of his visit to the Bara Hindu Rao hospital to meet people addmitted there after consuming spurious liquor.
It was around nine O clock evening and his visit was hurriedly arranged. Kaka met every patient and talked to doctors as well as the deputy commissioner of police to bring the illicit bootleggers to justice.
He also demanded adequate compensation for the bereaved poor families whose only earning member of the family died after consuming the illicit liquor.
During those days black and white pictures were prominent because the newspapers were’nt in colour. The colour pictures came a year after.
I fondly remember the hectic days of campaigning when Kaka was contesting as the Congress candidate from the New Delhi parliamentary constituency against the BJP’s Shatrughan Sinha.
It was quite an interesting political fight as both of them were Bollywood fame actors, one famous as a superstar of yester years and another a popular villain of the silver screen.
This was Kaka’s second election from New Delhi as he lost the first election against the BJP stalwart Lal Krishna Advani by merely 1500 votes but the latter preferred to opt ( for) the Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat seat from where also he had won simultaneously.
Actually, Advaniji had contested from New Delhi as well as the Gandhi Nagar seats as he was apprehensive to lose New Delhi as Kaka’s aura as a Super star and a heart throb of millions compelled the BJP stalwart not to take any risk.
Though Advaniji had won but a margin of merely 1500 votes was nothing as compared to his image and popularity, particularly in view of the New Delhi constituency being the BJP’s traditional strong hold earlier represented by him as well as the former PM AB Vajpayee. Therefore it was a huge setback for the BJP then.
Kaka was asked by Rajiv Gandhi the then PM to contest from New Delhi despite the fact that the super star was not so keen to take the risk, this being his first contest.
But insiders say that the former Spl. Assistent of Indira Gandhi R. K. Dhawan and the then President and former minister HKL Bhagat assured Rajiv Gandhi of his victory by all means.
Hence Rajiv Gandhi called Rajesh Khanna to Delhi and personally convinced Kaka to contest which he could not deny, he being Rajivji’s fan and the latter being his.
The day Kaka met Rajiv Gandhi and got the green signal to contest from New Delhi he was staying in a suite in Hotel Ashok where I got an opportunity to meet him for the first time at 10.00 PM in the night and discuss on issues related to his election for two hours.
Sr journalist and former minister Rajiv Shukla too was with him at that point of time who, closely associated people say was also instrumental in encouraging KAKA for the contest and fixing his meeting with Rajiv Gandhi. Kaka’s trusted friend and leutinent from Mumbai Stevan Fernadiz was also there at that point of time.
It was in this meeting when Kaka asked me help him in his elections and my association continued there after as his media advisor.
A CHEF CART, “THE TREAT,” WHERE KAKA USED TO DINE WHILE IN DELHI REMINDS OF THE SUPER STAR RAJESH KHANNA, fully studded with his pictures
There are millions of die hard fans of Rajesh Khanna aka Kaka in India and abroad and so am I who worked as his media advisor for over a decade or so but Vipin Oberoi is a unique die hard fan of his who and who’s entire family have been in so close proximity during Kaka’s thick and thin that after the super star of the millenium Kaka’s leaving for the eternal home Vipin acknowledges the same affection and love from Dimple, her daughters and even the super star of today Akshay Khanna, late Kaka’s son in law.
Vipin Oberoi my close trusted friend and Kaka’sdie hard fan, had tremendous obsession and admiration for Kakaji since beginning but actually came in his direct and regular contact when Kaka arrived in Delhi to contest the parliamentary election from New Delhi on Congress ticket on the then prime minister Rajiv Gandhi’s insistence.
I however had joined Kaka from day one as his media advisor and met Vipin thereafter. Vipin was then a businessmen dealing with electronics gadgets like televisions and other items but was so badly involved in Kaka’s election that he has to give away that profitable business unwillingly.
He has a lovely family, with both the daughters having settled abroad after doing their law. Vipin then had no option but to start a chef cart/ van in Cannaught at Janpath that he got with Kaka’s support and blessings. It later on was shifted behind the prestigious Jesus and Merry college in Chanakyapuri, a prestigious Diplomatic Enclave.
Fully studded with Rajesh Khanna’s pictures and his superhit songs going on round the clock makes the environment in and around the vicinity fully glamorous and pleasent.
Kaka used to very often visit this chef cart called The Treat with the intent to help Vipin increase his sale. He loved and blessed Vipin Oberoi always and used to visit the place during night time after 9 till 11 or 12, sometime with Bollywood stars as well.
Kaka’s wife and a popular actress Dimple and children Twinkle and Rinki if in Delhi also casually visit the place and bless Vipin who’d been in Kaka’s close proximity for more than three decades, taking care of his eating requirements and other things whenever the star turned MP used to be in Delhi.
Vipin travelled with Kaka in several political campaignings as well in Delhi and other parts of the country. I myself had also visited the van, the Treat number of times and met Kaka there and had dinner with him who fortunately always held me in high esteem.
The Treat prepares fantastic and delicious non veg items consumed by good number of customers and Kaka’s fan who visit the place every alternate days with family and friends from various nooks and corners of Delhi. Vipin Oberoi alongwith Kaka’s colleagues and fans in Delhi every year celebrate and remember this great legend by organising a Bhandara and prayer meeting at the venue of THE TREAT in Chanakyapuri.
The treat is the best address for individuals and family goers for dinner non vegetarian n vegetarian delicacies where Kaka used to usually dine while he was alive.
Zindagi ke safar mein guzar jaate hain jo mukaam, vo phir nahi aate! Today is Kaka’s 6th death anniversary
Today is the sixth death anniversary of an original super star of India film industry, Bollywood, Rajesh Khanna aka Kakaji, a superstar par excellence, an actor incomparable, an outstanding phenomena, a king of histrionics and a large hearted decent human being who on this day left for his eternal home leaving his billions of followers and fans in grief.
Rajesh Khanna the acting and style legend is earnestly born once in a century who leave his indelible mark on everybody’s mind and heart for years and years to come.
Though Kaka is not with us physically today but his super duper hit films, his mesmerising acting, stylish appearence and songs still entertain crores of his fans worldwide.
As Sachin Tendulkar is a God of Indian cricket so is Kaka is to his fans around the globe.
Born in Amritsar and adopted by the near relative Kaka hailed from a business family who outstandingly qualified himself in first position amongst the 10000 competetors in an artist talent hunt competetion in Mumbai during the seventies, never to look back thereafter.
Starting as a debut hero from Akhiri Khat or Akhiri Rasta, am not pretty sure, handsome with an outstanding God gifted personality originally Jatin Khanna, Kaka gave 15 super duper hits in a row from 1969 to 1974 followed by his other movies establishing a record of sorts in the Mumbai film industry.
He in all acted in about 225 films and was such a popular hero of his time that college girls used to kiss his ampala car in abundance, marry him in dreams n real life and wrote letters with their own blood.
Some of his movies like Amar Prem, Hathi Mere Sathi, Amar Prem, Anand, Safar, Avishkar, Kati Patang, Aan Milo Sajna, Dushman, Aap Ki Kasam, Roti, Prem Kahani etc etc impressed his fans tremendously thus leaving an impressive mark on their minds and hearts.
After Anand and Namak Haram Kaka’s downslide started coming with a ferocious speed.
He joined active politics on the personal request of the then prime minister Rajiv Gandhi and became the member of parliament from New Delhi, first having been defeated by the BJP stalwart L. K. Advani by merely 15000 votes and then winning against actor Shatrughan Sinha with a handsome margin from New Delhi.
Kaka dated two actresses during his life time, one Anju Mahendru before marriage and Tina Munim after marriage with whom he also acted in ALAG ALAG, his home production.
Though Kaka led a magnificient life of a super star during his hey days but was a lonely man at the last lap of his life shuttling between Delhi’s Sarvpriya Vihar residence and Ashirvaad in Mumbai.
He had special liking for ASHIRVAD, his magnificient bunglow facing the sea at Carter Road. His fans used to wait for a single glimpse of his, outside his house in Mumbai for hours together, such was his towering aura and ambience and when the girls used to see his Ampala they kissed it thinking that they have kissed the super star.
Kaka was a great fan of Rajiv Gandhi and Rajiv was his, which very few people know.
He purchased Ashirvaad Bunglow from the veteran actor Rajendra Kumar, then famous as jubilee kumar as his every film used to be a hit then.
Kaka signed Hathi Mere Sathi and asked the South Indian producer to give him an advance payment. He received Rs. five lakhs then as an advance payment which he gave to Rajendra Kumar for Ashirvaad which was then named as Dimple.
Rajendra kumar considered this house as inauspicious as his down fall started from here while for Kaka, Ashirvaad was too lucky.
Kakaji developed strained relations with Dimple Kapadia as he was against her working in films which she objected to.
Though Dimple Kapadia served Kaka during his last days while he was ill, Kaka named his will of property and entire wealth in the name of her both the daughters Twinkle and Rinki with not a single pie to Dimple, his legally wedded life.
Kaka was highly desirous and it was his long cherished dream to make ASHIRVAAD his museum but fate has something else stored for the future. Since the last controvertial women who lived with Kaka during the last leg of his life Anita Gidwani had claimed a part of the Ashirvaad for having been with the star in his thick and thin, Akshay Kumar and Dimple sold the house to the builders to keep themselves free from the impending controversy n dispute.
Kaka, might definitely been weeping in heaven for his Bangalows destruction which he wanted to be his museum.
My heartfelt rich tributes to this towering superstar of his time with the pray to God that his pious soul rests in peace for ever.
