A new interesting twist have been added to the Karnataka imbroglio after the Apex Court during the ongoing hearing asked the newly appointed chief minister of Karnataka B. S. Yedduruppa to prove his majority on the floor of the house by Saturday evening and has also stayed the nomination of the anglo Indian member to the state assembly.

The counsel for chief minister B. S. Yeduruppa has however requested the three judge apex court bench to postpone the date of proving of majority for Monday instead of Saturday.

As per the news pouring in from various sources the court has also asked the chief minister to produce the copy of the letter submitted to the Karnataka governor.

On the request of the counsel for Congress and JD (S) Abhishekh Manu Singhvi, the court has also assured of providing security to the Congress JD(S) post allaince lawmakers by speaking to the Karnataka state DIG, as the former is apprehensive of alleged horse trading in view of the test of majority by the BJP.

Meanwhile, all the 116 lawmakers of Congress JD (S) alliance have been shifted to Hydrabad after they were not granted permission to travel by air by DGCA citing the reason of possible thunder storm.

As per the news flowing in the chief minister of Telangana has assured the Congress and JD ( S) leaders of total safety and security of their lawmakers including saftey from possible phone tapping.

The Karnataka political imbroglio has indeed hotted up after the intervention of the apex court. The hearing on this vexed issue is still going on with senior lawyers Abhishek Manu Singvi and Mukul Rohtagi appearing on behalf of the Congress, JD(S) and the BJP led Karnataka government.

After the declaration of the Karnataka state election results the Bhartiya Janata Party emerged as the largest party with 104 lawmakers with 8 short for half mark majority whereas the Congress won on 78 seats with JD(S) coming as distant third with 38 MLAs.

But keeping in view the examples of Goa, Manipur and Meghalaya where the Congress lost opportunities despite being the single largest party, lost no time to offer unconditional support to the minority JD( S), even fully and amicably prepared to declare its leader and former CM HD Kumaraswamy as the prospective CM.

The Congress leaders were apprehensive that if they lose time the JD( S) may hob nob with the BJP leaving the Congress in opposition. Hence the post poll alliance.

The Congress, JD(S) immediately submitted the duly signed list of of 117 lawmakers to the governor Vajubhai Vala and requested him to call them first but the latter preferred to call the BJP and the swearing in took place next morning, giving B. S. Yedurappa 15 days time to prove his majority on the foor of the house.

The Congress, JD (S) combine went to the supreme court the same evening and the court after hearing the petitioner the whole night, fixed 18th, Friday as the date of hearing on this vexed issue.

The three judge bench however took strong exception to the swearing in of B. S. Yeduruppa as the CM without proving the majority and directed him to prove the strength of his majority on 19th, Saturday on the floor of the house which was objected by their counsel requesting the court to postpone it for Monday. The hearing is still in progress right now.
