The stalwart of Indian politics, three times Indian prime minister, recipient of the highest honour of the country Bharat Ratna, an eminent poet, writer, outstanding and exemplary orator, a leading parliamentarian, a true leader of the masses loved, adored and revered across ideoligical and political spectrum and above all a ststesman Atal Bihari Vajpayee is no more.

The great leader left for his heavenly abode today evening after the AIIMS director issued a final bulletin in the evening declaring his sad demise.

The entire nation is in the mourning. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a gem of a person and a leader unanimously  acceptable, loved and adored across party and ideological lines.

He was a liberal leader in in the saffron party who believed in coalition politics and ruled the country thrice as the prime minister, once only for thirteen days after having lost the vote of confidence by just one vote.

Vajpayee is the first non Congress prime minister having ruled the country for full five year term and led the BJP oriented coalition government.

Originally a socialist and a great promoter of communal harmony in the country despite being in the saffron party on top positions, Vajpayee was respected and revered as a tall leader by all political parties across ideological lines.

The first ever external affairs minister during the Janata Party government to have most efficiently addressed the United Nations Assembly while he was the external Affairs minister and made history, Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the founder  president of Bhartiya Janata Party and had been the president of the parent party Jana Sangh as well.

In his capacity as the Indian prime minister Vajpayee contributed very positively in extending the hand of frienship with Pakistan and had even travelled in a friendship bus from Delhi to Lahore during the tenure of Nawaz Sharief as PM.

A highly potential and energetic opposition leader Vajpayee designated the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi with the title of Goddess Durga and Chandi  in 1971 when India won against Pakistan and Bangladesh was carved out of it and lauded her leadership in the Lok Sabha.

He was such a large hearted and liberal leader who even lauded his arch rival when he or she deserved the appreciation.

An eminent poet and former writer and editor of Paanch Janya and Veer Arjun etc Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a journalist turned politician whose speeches during the emergency era against Indira Gandhi’s draconian emergency of 1975 to 1977 were appreciated and lauded all over the country and his debates in parliament were always extempore and exemplary.

He was a bachelor through out. Today the country has lost a statesman at the age of 94. God give the pious soul salvation and peace.

Meanwhile, Vajpayeeji’s body draped in the national flag  has been kept at his Delhi house where the president, prime minister, senior BJP leaders, union ministers, leaders of the opposition parties paid the floral tributes. His body will be kept at the BJP headquarter tomorrow, i.e. on 17th August and will remain there till 4.30 PM  for Darshan. He will be consigned to flames thereafter amid the presence of prime minister, leader of the opposition, various opposition leaders and the entire union cabinet etc.

Expressing his grief and sorrow prime minister Narendra Modi :Atal Ji’s passing away is a personal and irreplaceable loss for me. I have countless fond memories with him. He was an inspiration to Karyakartas like me. I will particularly remember his sharp intellect and outstanding wit,”

Congress president rahul Gandhi tweeted: Today India lost a great son. Former PM, Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji, was loved and respected by millions. My condolences to his family & all his admirers. We will miss him.
