The double engine government of Bhartiya Janata Party in Uttarakhand exhibits too much in terms of achievements but in actuality not a single outcome or achievement of this government has actually come to the fore.

The conditions of government hospitals in particular is extremely worrisome with majority of the hapless n poor patients of the interior villages n even the cities n towns, not being rendered adequate or proper medical treatment as majority of the government hospitals have dearth of doctors, surgeons n staff and are devoid of xray n ultrasound machines or ill equipped, not to speak of conduction of surgeries especially of the critical illnesse.

The poor patients are constrained to purchase expensive medicines from the private chemists who are hand in glove with the doctors n physicians who allegedly acknowledge the fixed commission on every medicinal purchase. In fact, it’s a huge racket that is prevailing in the health department n hospitals of Uttarakhand government.

There have been hundreds of instances of pregnant women either delievering their babies on the way or dying in hospitals or local health centres for want of adequate treatment.

The stock of medicines are allegedly clandestinely sold by gangs active in hospitals n the patients are constrained to buy them from private chemists at exorbitant rates.

It is because of these reasons n total negligence of the government in improving or modernising the health services in the hills of Uttarakhand that high profile private clinics n hospitals run by medical mafias are earning handsome profits from the people of the hills which is beyond their capacity to pay but dearth of adequate medical services in government hospitals compel the poor rural and semi urban patients to seek the patronage of these private hospitals for critical illnesses agaunst highly exorbitant treatment expenditure which is actually beyond their capacity to pay, but manage anyhow circumstancially.

Half of Uttarakhadies come to Delhi for medical treatment n deteriorating health services is one of the primary reasons for the people migrating to cities n metropolises apart from lack of educational facilities n job avenues.

The behaviour of the physicians, surgeons n the hospital staff is also arrogant who literary speak rough with the illeterate patients who have no option but to be at the mercy of these doctors.

The attendence of the hospital staff n doctors is also under question as majority of the senior doctors, specialists n surgeons are on long leaves and are running their own private clinics in the cities n towns, thus minting huge profits.

They have good connections in the government and are therefore fully patronised. The case in point is the version of a social activist of Srinagar Garhwal Pradeep Tiwari whose vedio is going viral these days uploaded by someone in the social networking site. Pradeep Tiwari has while literally crying spoken in front of few media channels in Srinagar Garhwal about the deteriorating condition of Srinagar Garhwal HN Bahuguna hospital n institute which also produces MBBS doctors.

Tiwari made startling disclosures about few injured patients in an accident whose lives could not be saved as the hospital authorities denied the permission for the patients’ ultrasound n Xrays apart from delivering them timely n proper treatment.

This vedio has been loaded in the FB timeline of Badalta Srinagar. This is indeed shocking as Uttarakhand has acknowledged the separate status 19 years ago but till date the conditions of government hospitals, health centres and 108 ambulance service is quite pitiable and shameful.
