Deepika Padukone joins Ranveer Singh on board for Kabir Khan’s ‘83’

Wednesday, 12 June 2019: Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh announced that his wife, Deepika Padukone will join him on-screen in the upcoming sports drama, ‘83’, directed by Kabir Khan.

Deepika will be seen doing the role of Romi Dev, wife of legendary cricketer Kapil Dev, to be played by Ranveer.

Ranveer on Wednesday shared the post on Instagram saying “Who better to play My Wifey than My Wifey?! @deepikapadukone plays Romi Dev in @83thefilm!!!”

He shared another post that read, “*drum roll* All smiles as All-star @deepikapadukone joins the #83squad!!!”

The cast is in Glasgow, where they have started shooting for the film. Ranveer even shared an adorable Instagram boomerang where Deepika is seen whacking him with a cricket bat, with an amazing caption: “Story of my life, Real & Reel

Later, Deepika took to Twitter to confirm her casting.

“& on to the next… Thank You @kabirkhankk for this incredible honour! #RomiDev #Day1 @83thefilm @RanveerOfficial,” she wrote.

83 revolves around India’s victory under the Kapil’s captainship when the Men in Blue defeated West Indies in the final to clinch their first-ever World Cup trophy in 1983.

The much-awaited film will hit the theatre screen on April 10, 2020.

83 is produced by Madhu Mantena, Vishnu Induri, and Kabir, and presented by Reliance Entertainment.
