Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus

Published

on

The sequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order, The New Colossus sees the return of BJ Blazkowicz in 1961 as he kicks off the second American Revolution against the Nazis.Even if you haven’t made your way through the grim delights of The New Order, Bethesda’s surprise E3 announcement, The New Colossus is a serious reason to get excited. Ultra-smart, fast-paced and darkly funny as hell, this moves the action to the ’60s where BJ is once again battling the Nazis who have taken over America. The small segment we’ve played saw BJ shooting and puzzling his way through a Nazi-ridden sub from the confines of the wheelchair he’s recovering in after the original game. Throwing in microwave field emitters to and add some explosive variation, it was a perfect taster of the madness to come.

Machine Games’ rebooted Wolfenstein has always felt designed to parallel its protagonist. A fast, brutal, gloriously excessive, but deceptively smart shooter, released out of time and out of place into a world unprepared for its return, 2014’s The New Order mirrored the status of BJ Blazkowicz very keenly indeed. A blunt old war hero thrown forward into a high-tech, Nazi-occupied ‘60s, Blazko didn’t fit, was treated as little more than a gutsy underdog upon his reappearance, and proceeded to tear fascism a well deserved, cavernous new one regardless, with furious gusto. Much like Wolfenstein itself, Blazkowicz just didn’t give a shit for assumptions, caring only that there was important work to do. Each a cacophonous clash of old and new ways, neither Wolfenstein nor Blazko should have had any right to succeed. The tonal juxtaposition of dual-wielding, sprint-fired shotguns, Nazi robo-pups, and profound, soul-searching, emotional narrative should have made a misfire. But somehow those discordant threads came together to create a rousing symphony of carnage, breaking preconceptions and setting new standards all at the same time.

And now Wolfenstein is back with Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. And once more, neither it nor its hero expresses any care for convention. Both are going all-out, along their own path, and if anything they’re hitting even harder. And based on current play, they’re succeeding once again. The key quality remains: neither of them gives a shit. BJ is even killing Nazis from a wheelchair. Release date is occupied on October 27, 2017

Sara Ali Khan breaks silence on Love Jihad allegations against ‘Kedarnath’

Published

on

Sara Ali Khan, daughter of Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, is all set to make her Bollywood debut with ‘Kedarnath‘ this December.

While people seem to be quite impressed with her looks and her dialogue delivery, her debut film has managed to provoke the ire of a local organisation of priests as well as a senior BJP leader.

They have alleged that the film promotes love jihad (a term used to describe alleged campaigns under which Muslim men target women belonging to non-Muslim communities for conversion to Islam by feigning love). They feel that by making this film, director Abhishek Kapoor, has hurt the sentiments of Hindus.

In a recent interview with Mumbai Mirror, when asked to comment on the controversy, Sara said, “It’s really not that kind of a film, rather it’s about how Kedarnath is as much Mansoor’s world as it’s Mukku’s. I don’t understand this kind of divisiveness, but then I don’t understand racism or sexism, which is rampant across the world, either. At the same time, I believe that while my life’s experiences and education have shaped my thought process, the lack of it could have influenced others to think differently. And just as everyone doesn’t have to like every movie, we can coexist with different world views.”

Set against the 2013 flash floods in Kedarnath, the film revolves around the love story of Mansoor, a pitthoo (played by Sushant Singh Rajput) and Mukku (Sara). Produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Pragya Kapoor, Kedarnath is slated to release on 7 December.

Unlike Bollywood, Southern stars more punctual and professional: Akshay Kumar on working in ‘2.0’

Published

on

Akshay Kumar who will next be seen in Rajinikanth-starrer 2.0, said that working in the film was a learning experience for him as he realised the south industry is not only more punctual but also more professional than Bollywood.

The actor plays the villain, Dr Richard, in the film which is a sequel to Shankar’s blockbusterEnthiran.

“Technologically, South is more advanced than us. They are more professional than us. If the shoot time is 7.30, the shooting will start sharp on time. Here, 7.30 means you can come by 9.30. Their superstars arrive on time on set,” Akshay said in a group interview.

The actor believes newcomers should do at least five films down south before coming to Bollywood as time is not a luxury one can afford in southern cinema.

“You learn a lot. I sometimes feel a newcomer should do five films there and then come here. He or she will learn a lot. In a day, they take 30-40 shots. Here we manage around 12-13 shots. They don’t take other people for granted. They value other people’s time,” he said.

The Gold actor also went on to say that he was bowled over by the humility of megastarRajinikanth when he first met him.

“We used to talk in Marathi. He is a Maharashtrian and I also know the language. He is a great man. It’s amazing how you give him one dialogue and he changes it into an epic dialogue. He puts entertainment in every line,” he said.

Recently, Rajinikanth had said that 2.0 will belong to Akshay but the Padman star considers himself to be the “Amrish Puri” of the action-fantasy genre.

“He (Rajinikanth) is just being humble. It’s very much his film because the title is 2.0. I can’t be that. He is 2.0. He is just being kind and nice to me. I respect him for that. It’s very much his film. I am the Amrish Puri of the film,” he quipped.

2.0, which also stars Amy Jackson, is scheduled to release on November 29.

After his last show, Family Time With Kapil Sharma, was abruptly pulled off the air, the actor/comedian went into a self-imposed exile and is now ready to come back on Television with a bang.

Unlike the promos of his previous shows, this time the makers have decided to touch the emotional side of the audience using laughter as the key. It features people from common life bonding over the laughter spilled across the tables while people watch the show.

He was on a career high a few months back, but his image took a major hit after a mid-air scuffle with his co-stars of the show.

Kapil Sharma was accused of indecent behavior towards his colleagues which prompted half of the actors on the show to walk out includingSunil Grover. Only, Kiku Sharda stayed back. The ratings of the show’s first season saw a sharp drop, Kapil struggled to carry it all by himself.

Have Arjun Kapoor and Malaika Arora jointly purchased a house in Mumbai?

Published

on

As per a latest report in Pinkvilla, rumoured couple Malaika Arora and Arjun Kapoor have jointly purchased a new property at a location near Mumbai’s Lokhandwala complex.
It’s not yet clear whether they plan to move in together or they have just invested in the property for future purposes.
“Arjun and Malaika have together purchased a flat in a plush society near Lokhandwala Complex. It is their joint investment together. Whether they plan to live in or no is entirely up to them. But they are surely getting a space for themselves,” the portal quoted a source as saying.
The interiors of the house are currently being set up, which the lovebirds are closely monitoring. “Currently, the interiors of the house are being done and both Malaika and Arjun are looking into the details,” the source further added.
Speculations are rife that a wedding is on the cards for Malaika and Arjun. When questioned about the same, Malaika told Hindustan Times in a recent interview, “I never answer personal questions. Not that I shy away from answering or whatever. I just don’t feel comfortable talking about my personal life. And whatever my life has been, everyone is aware of it. I don’t need to be talking about it. I am just enjoying my life – it’s beautiful and precious.”
Lately, Karan Johar has been dropping a lot of hints about their impending nuptials. when Karan asked about his relationship status on ‘Koffee With Karan’, Arjun replied, “No, I’m not single”. This confession left Janhvi in surprise.
When Karan further inquired and asked when will he be telling his family, Arjun, pointing at Janhvi, said, ”Clearly, it has just happened”. Stunned by Arjun’s answer, Janhvi said, ”Yeah, it has been introduced on this show.” Arjun even said that he is open to marriage. ”Yes, now I am. Earlier, I wasn’t,” he said.
However, as per a close friend of the duo, marriage is not what they are aiming for, at the moment.
“Arjun and Malaika have started spending quality time together. They are extremely fond of each other and are exploring their beautiful relationship. Let’s not jump the gun here. We should just let them be. Marriage is definitely not on the cards anytime soon for them,” the insider informed Dna After Hrs.
“Arjun is a doting brother and will only settle down once his sister Anshula agrees to do so. Malaika is also just beginning to get to know Arjun well. They have just started their courtship and both are clear that they want to enjoy each other’s company right now. Arjun is neck-deep in his film commitments and Malaika, too, has a hectic work life. There is a lot of time before the relationship hits the next gear,” the source added.
