Veteran journalist n state foreign minister Akbar resigns ? Says he’ll fight the false and malicious allegations against him !

Finally, a visibly moved, veteran journalist, author and the union minister of state for external affairs M. J Akbar has resigned from the union cabinet on the tenth day after having been accused of sexual harrasment by Priya Ramani and 16 other women journalists in a ,”Mee Too campaign,” raising outrage and uproar in the political corridors and the society at large. Former union minister M. J. Akbar was in an African nation tour when the controversy allegedly involving him in the incidents of moral turpitude erupted compeliing the social media players making the shameful news viral.

In his statement issued to the media n posted in twitter by ANI, the veteran journalist, author and minister M. J. Akbar has stated that since I have decided to seek justice in the court of law in my personal capacity , I deem it appropriate to step down from office and challenge false accusations levied against me, also in a personal capacity.

I have therefore tendered my resignation from the office of the minister of state for external affairs. I am deeply grateful to the prime minister Shri Narendra and the external affairs minister Smt. Sushma Swaraj for the opportunity they gave me to serve my company.

It may be recalled that the former minister M.J. Akbar had to resign in view of the alleged a sexual harrasment accusations of over 17 women journalists against him through the Me Too campaign while he was the chief editor in the Asian Age publication from where he had resigned in 2008 after a fued with the owner.

Just after returning back from abroad Akbar faced volley of questions from the mediamen at the Airport about these allegations which he refuted altogether as a calculated attempt to denigrate his image n that of the saffron party during the elections.

He arranged a senior and reputed lawyer Karajawala n several others who filed the criminal defamation suit against the first women journalist Priya Ramani who raised her voice through the Mee too campaign by accusing the former minister of sexually harrasing her in the past, followed by roughly 16 other women journalists.

After filing the criminal defamation suit there were mixed reactions in the social media n the press with majority of the people criticizing him for psychologically and with his money power demoralising the victim women journalist Priya Ramani n others.

But this had an adverse affect n instead of getting bogged down all the other women journalists too came forward courageously to depose in the court of law in favour of Ramani.

The BJP high command and the government had to finally relent and it is being alleged that Mr. Akbar must have been asked to resign as the matter has blown out of proportion thus bringing bad name to the party n the government, especially during the election atmosphere of the five states.

PM Narendra Modi To Inaugurate KMP Expressway On November 19

To ease traffic flow through the national capital, the much awaited Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway is all set to be inaugurated on November 19. The announcement has been made by Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar and it will be done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Manohar Lal Khattar who reviewed the KMP Expressway project and the arrangements regarding the Prime Minister’s visit to Sultanpur village in Gurugram on November 19 said, “The prime minister will address a public meeting near Farukhnagar crossing in Gurgaon, where he would dedicate various projects to the people of the state. All the preparations are done for the inauguration,”

“Apart from the expressway, he will also inaugurate the Ballabhgarh Metro Link, lay foundation stone of Haryana Vishwakarma Skill University in Palwal and various other development projects on the same day,” Khattar added.

Talking about the expressway, it will connect four major national highways (NH), NH-1 (Delhi-Ambala-Amritsar), NH-2 (Delhi-Agra-Varanasi-Dankuni), NH-8 (Delhi-Jaipur-Ahmedabad-Mumbai) and NH-10 (Delhi-Hisar-Fazilka-Indo-Pak border), as it passes through five districts in Haryana namely Sonipat, Jhajjar, Gurgaon, Mewat, and Palwal.

The expressway will also significantly reduce the traffic from north Indian states to central, western and south India and vice versa. Also, it will provide an alternative route to vehicles, especially heavy ones to go towards Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan without creating traffic vows in the national capital.

Recently, the Haryana Government has also given its approval for the development of five new cities along Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) expressway. These cities will be developed in an area of 50,000 hectares on each side of the 135 km long expressway and will cover eight districts of the state — Sonipat, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Gurugram, Rewari, Mewat, Faridabad, and Palwal.

Continuing the declining trend that has been going for the past couple of days, oil marketing firms across the country once again slashed the rates for transportation fuels on Monday.

In Delhi, petrol is being sold at Rs 77.56 whereas diesel is available at Rs 72.31 per litre. Yesterday, commuters in the national capital shelled out Rs 77.89 and Rs 72.58 for a litre of petrol and diesel respectively.

The prices of the fuel in the national capital stand lowest as compared to other metropolitan cities.

In the financial capital Mumbai, petrol price has slipped to Rs 83.07 per litre and diesel to Rs 75.76. On Sunday, the petrol cost at Rs 83.24 and diesel at Rs 75.92 per litre here.

The rates of the fuel across India have been slashing due to the slip in the prices of crude oil prices. The United States recently softened its stand on Iran’s sanctions and given nod to eight oil countries to continue to import oil from Tehran temporarily. The list includes India, China, South Korea, Japan, Turkey, Italy, the United Arab Emirates and Taiwan.

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had, on October 4, announced a reduction of Rs 2.50 per litre on both petrol and diesel prices after curbing excise duty on the commodity by Rs 1.50 per litre. He had also urged state governments to slash the same amount at their end.

How to check fuel prices in your city:

Delhi air remains in ‘hazardous’ category after largest-ever stubble burning of year

Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi remained in ‘hazardous’ category on Saturday, two days after neighbouring states of Haryana and Punjab recorded the “largest-ever” stubble burning.

According to the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, 2,100 fire counts were observed on Thursday over north western region of India. The government-run agency warned that the stubble burning might lead to a further deterioration in the already “severe” air quality of the national capital.

“It was the largest-ever recorded for this year. It was around four times higher than Wednesday,” IITM said.

“The PM2.5 concentration is likely to increase again from Friday afternoon and may remain severe or severe-plus in Delhi-NCR till Sunday,” it said.

The increase in PM2.5 (particles in the air with a diameter of less than 2.5 micrometres) concentration would be due to “stable” meteorological conditions, trapping the polluted air-mass in Delhi and significant increase in contribution from biomass burning, IITM said in a report.

The Centre-run System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR) too warned that Delhi’s air quality would remain in the severe category till Saturday as the toxic smoke from fireworks is likely to aggravate due to intensified stubble burning in neighbouring states.

Stubble burning in neighbouring states combined with localised factors in Delhi such as vehicular emissions, industrial pollution and smoke from firecrackers around Diwali every year plague the national capital’s air quality every year.

This year too, the air pollution level spiked to severe-plus emergency levels due to rampant burning of firecrackers leading to the formation of a smoky layer across Delhi.

Delhi’s air quality on Thursday went off the charts as smog caused due to smoke from firecrackers engulfed the national capital.

Late last month, the Supreme Court had restricted bursting of crackers to a two-hour window between 8 pm and 10 pm on the day of Diwali. But Delhiites violated the order, as did surrounding Noida, Ghaziabad and Greater Noida. At the same time, Twitter was full of people grousing about the terrible air and the trangressions.

On Saturday morning, the AQI was in ‘hazardous’ category in many parts of the capital, while it was observed to be in ‘very unhealthy’ catagory in some areas.

The overall AQI Thursday was recorded in the “severe plus emergency” category at 642. On Friday, the AQI was recorded at 421, which falls in the ‘severe’ category, according to the the Central Pollution Control Board.

Protest demonstrations against demonetisation on its second anniversary in the capital ! Congress tries to derive maximum advantage out of every issue going against BJP

Hundreds of Congressmen under the banner of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee led by its president Ajay Maken today held a candle march at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi and also marched thereafter from there to Reserve Bank of India headquarter in the form of a protest demonstration raising anti government slogans condemning the demonetisation decision of the BJP led NDA government as reckless, arbitrary and anti people which led to the loss of jobs of lakhs of countrymen working in private sector, death of more than hundred persons and endless inconvenience to the people of the country. The arbitrary decision was imposed on the people of the country two years ago on 8th November 2016. The Congress party workers and leades were commemorating 9th November as the black day.

The protest demonstrators were carrying Congress flags and playcards in their hands and raising anti govt and anti BJP slogans.

Yesterday the left parties had protested in Delhi by holding an impressive demonstration participated by the former RS MP and CPM polit bureau member Brinda Karat, Secretary of the national council of Communist Party of India Atul Anjan and Delhi state secretary Professor Dinesh Varshney.

8th November is being named as the Black Day in the Indian political history by the entire non BJP opposition parties of the country and protest demonstrations and symbolic anti demonetisation protests are being organised in various states of the country.

In Uttarakhand too a protest march was held under the leadership of the Uttatakhand Pradesh Congress Committee. In view of the state elections taking place in 5 states of the country and the general elections due for 2019, just eight months ahead, the major opposition party Congress and its ideological affiliates of the future Grand Alliance are losing no opportunities to take political advantage out of issues like Rafale, demonetisation and inflation including the agrarian crisis, banking frauds n sky rocketting petro prices.

The Congress party and the rest of the anti BJP opposition parties have organised good number of protest demonstrations, sit ins and debates all over the country highlighting them in the national and regional media to a great extent.

The recent CBI crisis was also exploited to the full by the Congress party in league with the grand allaince partners. The recent killing spree in Dantewada, Chattisgarh by the naxalites ruled by the BJP chief minister Raman Singh for the last 15 years has also come in under severe criticism nationally, resulting in the BJP led NDA governments at the centre and the states coming into a defensive posture.

Shame on we Delhites?

Polluted city Delhi worst to live in. Watch school going children wearing mask while going to school early morning.

Despite the stringent directives of the Supreme Court of India restricting Delhites to use fire crackers only for two hours from eight to ten PM on the Diwali day i. e. today the 7th of November, hardly had an impact to any extent in controlling the sound and fire cracker pollution emanating toxic gases adding to the already existing pollution in the capital city of India, Delhi and its surroundings, the national capital region viz Gurugram, Noida etc.

Deepawali is the most ancient festival of the majority community in India and worldwide where ever the Hindus live celebrated with utmost gaiety and fervour.

But the increasing global warming and the worsening climatic conditions and environment due to the rapidly and multiply enhancing pollution due to green house emissions, pollution from construction activities, stubble burning in Haryana n UP flouting court’s orders , factory emissions, emmisions from the 80 lakh odd vehicles in Delhi including thousands of Diesal trucks that pass through the Delhi territory, emission through millions of air conditions during the summer and of course the Diwali emissions that breaks all records, have finally compelled the Supreme court issue directives curtailing fire cracking limit on Deepawali for just two hours from 8 to 10 AM.

I personally kept a tab to watch whether the Supreme court’s moratorium on fire crackers would be abided by the citizens of Delhi or not. I was however satisfied that till 10.20 PM atleast 65 to 70 percent of the people stopped using fire crackers with thirty percent still busy defying the court’s order.

Being the festival season it’s next to impossible for the police personel and the department to curb this menace fully as it has to deal with serious crimes as well and the staff too is on Deepawali holiday.

It’s actually the people who are to be blamed. Sounds shocking and worrisome that majority of the population of the capital city is educated and well aware of the apex court’s orders as well as the anguishing situation of the enhancing pollution levels leading to various hazardous deseases taking place and causing unparalleled harm to the patients of critical illnesses, heart deseases, patients of lung infections, asthmatic patients, patients inflicted with tuberculosis and cancers etc but the rich and influential are still showing their money power and hostile prestige in exploding more and more fire crackers not only des – respecting and openly flouting the court’s orders but also making thousands of Delhites die of various pollution oriented physical n mental disorders.

Just about two weeks’ ago the Air Quality Index was the highest to 426 PM 2.5 in the capital making peoples’ lives hell to respirate and live comfortably.

Just imagine what will happen after Deepawali when thousands, even lakhs of tons of fire crackers emanate unacounted amount of pollution in our environment already having become toxic and not prone for healthy living.

Now enough is enough. For God Sake give up the crackers, once for all. Now its 45 minutes over 10 PM, I could easily hear fire crackers being exploded again with full speed and against the open dereliction of the Apex Court’s orders. Shame on we Delhites. The Supreme Court of India should take suo motto cognizance of this violation and call the chief secretary Delhi and the Delhi Police Commissioner to respond on this?

Signature bridge inauguration controversy makes mockery of Delhi politicians

The way, politics of Delhi is moving ahead these days makes all of us give a serious rethinking about the indesciplined or rogue politicians of Delhi whether they belong to AAP or the Bhartiya Janata Party, making mockery of themselves and their ridiculous actions.

The point in reference is the inauguration ceremony of the long awaited assymmetrical highest bridge in the country, one of the best architectural marvel of the present times started by the then Congress government led by Shiela Dikshit with the foundation stone having been laid in 2014 and finally completed in 2018 after lots of hiccups, inaugurated by the Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, amid lots of controversy amounting to allegedly forcibly pushing back of the East Delhi MP and Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari by one of the AAP lawmakers claiming that had he not pushed him back the former would have attacked the CM who was too angry and furious for not having been invited in the inauguration ceremony.

Sounds shocking and ironical, as well?

The point here is, despite the hard fact that the Signature bridge has been built by the Delhi state government , perhaps by its PWD department but one should not forget the fact that the protocol demands that the area MP, MLA n even if need be the councillor are duly invited for participation in such inaugural functions and even the inauguration plate has to mention the name of the area MP alongwith the chief minister, the PWD minister and the area MLA and as such the forcible visit of the East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari was to certain extent justifiable and correct as he wanted to get himself noticed since he was’nt invited at the function by the AAP government.

However, there is no denying the fact that the BJP party and the government too has also in the recent part not invited Arvind Kejrival in some of the metro rail corporation’s inauguration functions’ despite the hard fact that he is the chief minister of the capital city and the protocol also demanded so.

So it was rather a tit for tat then who’s to be blame for such controversies n who not is a moot question ? However, what makes things worse and unethical is when any public representative is physically pushed or allegedly hit or insulted ? In a democracy, such indecencies and unethical acts does not behove well for the status of politicians or elected representatives on whom lies the basic responsibility to establish harmony, decency, morality and ethics in the socio political scenerio of the state or the country which is unfortunately badly missing these days with criminals holding constitutional positions and also being elected in parliament n state assemblies in good number.

Why don’t these politicians or political parties understand that it’s primarily the public exchequers’ tax payer money which is being incurred on developmental works whether they are construction of bridges, metro rails or other pro people projects. Being the duly elected public representatives it is their bounden duty to serve the masses and it’s no obligation on them. They are in essence the peoples’ servants then what’s a big deal ?

Since the MPs, MLAs or the corporators are not incurring their pocket money, then why is the curiosity to demean each other on party lines or to claim political credit for various works and make mockery of themselves in the media and amongst the people. YE PUBLIC HAI YE SAB JAANTI HAI ANDAR KYA BAHAR KYA HAI, SAB PEHCHASNTI HAI.

The voters of the country know everything in this hi tech n digital world as to who has executed the development and who is trying derive undue mileage out of such inaugurations or protests at the site.

Whether it’s Delhi CM Arvind kejrival or the East Delhi MP n Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari, both of them must avoid such tactics of chief popularity and publicity and try to set the best examples of decency and mutual accord in the socio political life in the near future instead of becoming subject of mockery and ridicule in the media. What’s your take friends?

Ram Mandir seems to have become the core issue of BJP, Dharmadesh convention of saints demand introduction of legislation/ ordinance for Ram Temple construction.

The emergence of all of a sudden cumulative voices by the BJP leaders and its frontal organisations including its saffron offshoots in favour of construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, despite the vexed matter being in the apex court, particularly at the time when the elections in the five states are going to polls this month and the 2019 general elections just eight months ahead, it has become absolutely unambiguous that Ram Temple would be the Bhartiya Janata Party’s core issue in the general election as the ruling party dispensation is badly in the dock on issues like corruption, Rafale, unemployment, agrarian distress, prise rise in petro products, CBI crisis and inflation etc.

The top leadership of the ruling party and the prime minister Narendra Modi has though tried their best to increase the MSP on food grains/ crops, easy sanctioning of loans up to Rs one crores to the medium and small enterprises and assurance of jobs to the youths of the country including insurance to countrymen to the tune of Rs 5 lakhs, free distribution of LPG gas connections, contruction of lakhs of toilets, opening of crores of Jan Dhan accounts etc but nothing seems to have been practically implemented on the ground till yet say political analysts as was expected .

The controvertially hyped Rafale Jet Fighter Deal and the CBI controversy most eloquently and vociferously raised and exposed by the Congress and the non BJP opposition parties, especially the Congress chief Rahul Gandhi has infact dominated the so called achievements and populist measures of the BJP government at the centre and in the states ruled by the saffron parties.

Currently, the BJP ruled states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh where the saffron party is in power for more three terms in continuity except Rajasthan and suffering from acute anti incumbency factors due to corruption, inefficiency, non performance, scams like Vyapan etc, and the heightened Maoist problem having claimed several innocent lives of mediamen, security forces and civilians , the ruling party dispensations in these states are trying hard to play with the religious sentiments of the electorates by again popularising the Ram temple construction issue, dear to everyone, with an apparent pre strategic move to influence them , score re victories and achieve power but the fact remains that out of these three states the BJP seems likely to loose in two states for sure.

If one sees the sequence of the statements and events of BJP high ups and its various off shoots and the parent organisation RSS including organisation of the saints after and before the decision of supreme court it becomes absolutely unambiguous that the entire politics of BJP in future is based on the Ram Temple issue.

The two day DHARMADESH convention of all the prominent Hindu saints numbering in hundreds held in Delhi’s Talkatora Stadium renting the air with Ram Mandir supportive slogans, have unanimously passed a resolution for the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, come what may. The unanimous decision of the Dharmadesh is that the government should immediately bring a legislation or ordinance to construct Ram Temple at Ayodhya. Nothing less than this would be accepted to them said their resolution apart from other demands like expulsion of illegal Bangladeshies and muslim Rohingya immigrats from India.

The union minister of BJP Giriraj Kishore Singh has openly said that the apex court is testing the already frayed tempers of the majority community and is delaying the verdict on this vexed issue of Ram Mandir construction in Ayodhya thus allegedly disrespecting the majority sentiments.

The saffron clad devout hindu Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Aditya Nath has appealed to the hindus of the country to visit Ayodhya on the day of Deepawali and light a lamp in honour of Lord Rama in order to express their undaunted solidarity to the cause of Ram Temple construction at the disputed site.

He has also sanctioned a proposal for the construction of the biggest statue of Lord Rama in the world costing whopping Rs. 775 crores and being as high as 201 metres, even more in height than the recently built Sardar’s statue in Gujarat.

Just a few days ago the RSS chief while addressing the swayam sewaks at Nagpur had publicly demanded from the union government to introduce a legislation on the Ram Temple in order to construct it at Ayodhya at the earliest backed and outrightly supported by the BJP leaders, Sant samaj, various off shoots of the party and the saffron supporters all over the country n the globe.

The conclusion is that the saffron party and the government seems to be quite serious this time to bring a legislation in the winter session of parliament in order to get it ratified by both the houses of parliament and in case the bill is not passed it may resort to the ordinance route to prove its honesty on the Ram Temple cause which has been lagging behind for the last 26 years since 1992 after the demolition of Babri Masjid.

Since the incoming session of the parliament would be too vociferous and action/ uproar oriented, hence bringing of legislation on Ram Temple construction to sideline important controversies like the Rafale and CBI imbroglios will be a better bet for the ruling party which seems to be in the defensive at present. What’s your take friends?

Delhi Congress demonstrates in the capital against harassment of Poorvanchalies !

The Congress party is not leaving a single moment condemning the ruling saffron party political dispensation on any issue, be it a Rafale controversy, CBI imbroglio or the attacks on the people of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in Bihar compelling them leave Gujarat and even in the capital city of India by the religious fundamentalists, especially the most uncalled for obnoxious comment by the ruling party BJP’s sitting Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri.

The ex MP from Delhi hailing from Bihar Mahabal Mishra and the Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken held a strong protest demonstration in Delhi under the auspicies of Delhi Pradesh Congress committee raising the anti BJP and government slogans for the anti UP and Bihar attitude ofthe ruling party in Gujarat and Delhi where just two days ago some people of UP n Bihar origins were allegedly attacked and threatened with dire consequences.

Such caste oriented attacks are being condemned everywhere at the pan India level as the country like India having diverse cultures, religions, castes, creeds and identities believes in secularism, togetherness, a plularistic society and peaceful coexistence.

The Congress demonstration comprising of hundreds n thousands of protestors tried to break the police cordon demanding immediate stoppage to such divisionery tactics and attitude of the ruling party and demanded all those responsible for these obnoxious acts to be brought to justice and penalised under the strictest sections of the law.
