The Gandhi family scion and the youngest president of the 131 year old party Rahul Gandhi was today morning seen gosipping smilingly with the party leader and former union minister Ghulam Nabi Azad sitting in the designated sixth row as a commoner, hardly being noticed except for the fact that the television cameras’ of several channels’ were kind enough to focus their cameras on him at few intervals thus making sure that how a young leader of the party that ruled India for more than six decades have been made the back bencher despite the fact that her mother Sonia Gandhi and even the then leader of the opposition Lal Krishna Advani had usually been given the front row seats in earlier republic day functions including the party chief Amit Shah since 2014.

The Congress Party has taken a serious view of this alleged deliberate lapse and termed it an intentional attempt by the ruling party to belittle his image and reputation as the leader of biggest opposition party in parliament and the president of the Congress party as well.

There have been lot of hue and cry on this issue but the Congress party chief despite issuing any negative statement on this arbitrary seating arrangement preferrred to go their early in the morning and sit calmly alongwith his party colleague Ghulam Nabi Azad watching the entire parade of the 69th Republic Day celebration at Rajpath. However, the Congress Party has officially not made it an issue but those speaking behind the camera and on the condition of being anonymous say that this practice amounts to cheap tactics to belittle or degrade the image of the leader of a party that ruled the nation for so many decades and is a main opposition party of the country.

As per the news reports pouring in the ministry of defence responsible for making seating arrangements also denied objections of the Congress party saying that every norm and protocol has been obeyed in this regard and no indecent or arbitrary attitude has been taken in allocating the seat to Rahul Gandhi.

Every arrangement has been made as per norms, rules and regulations. Even the leader of the opposition (LoP) is placed behind several dignitaries and at present there is no LoP in the Lok Sabha due to a lack of numbers added the defence ministry sources.

The Congress leader emphatically say that if the president of the ruling party BJP Amit Shah can sit in the front row in Republic Day functions since the party came to power in 2014 giving seat in the fourth row to the leader and president of the main opposition party is a clear move to belittle his image and amounts to cheap politics. What makes the issue more serious is the fact that first Rahul Gandhi was allotted the seat in the fourth row and was later on changed to sixth row on the pretext that it was the SPG looking after the Congress president’s safety which has asked to do so. But the Congress leader and spokesman has serious reservation on this. In a tweet Randeep Singh Surjewal said: MODI SARKAAR KI OCHI RAAJNEETI JAGJAAHIR

lekin hamaare liye gantantr ka parv hi sarvopari hai

Veteran Congress leader and former union minister Mani Shankar Aiyer who currently stands suspended from the primary membership of the party for using a most unethical word against prime minister Narendra Modi calling him NEECH has though apologised saying that if his statement causes harm to the chances of Congress party in Gujarat elections he is apologetic for his wrong utterances but has done incalculable harm to the chances of the party in Gujarat elections say political analysts.

This is not the first time that arrogant in nature and used to objectionable utterances , he had earlier too used foul language against the BJP stalwart Lal Krishna Advani calling him a, “Laik Insaan lekin naalayak neta,” but later on apologising diplomatically saying that it was because of his little knowledge of Hindi that he couldn’t use the right words and therefore his mistake was unintentional. Mani Shankar Aiyyer may say so but the fact of the matter is he has proved himself less an asset for the Congress party despite his being a chequered diplomat, an intellectual, a staunch party man and a good writer but more a problem as his unethical utterances has not only created unnecessary problems, hiccups and bad name for the party but has also given undue sympathy and anti Congress mileage to the BJP and its leaders.

Arrogance in politics never pays but rather bring bad name and Aiyyer’s bad utterances for top leaders like Lal Krishna Advani and prime minister Narendra Modi has finally invited the wrath of the people of Gujarat as well as the country. Today, prime minister Modi has exploited this issue to the fullest in all his four public meetings addressed by him on the last leg of campaigning and the response from the people was tremendous. Modi connected this insult of his with the pride of Gujarat and Gujaraties and said that calling himm NEECH INSAAN by a veteran Congressman like a former diplomat and a leader of Rahul Gandhi’s party is not his but the entire Gujarat’s insult and degradation.

He even went to the extent of saying that the same Congress leader in the past went to Pakistan and allegedly gave supari there to ensure that he is wiped out of the scene for the harmonious and cohesive maintenance of healthy and cordial Indo Pakistan relations. The political analysts say that whatever little suport Rahul Gandhi had generated for the Congress Party in Gujarat by the dint of his hard work, potential mobilisation, largely attended public meetings, his oratorical speeches and high quality eloquence has been completely washed out by Mani Shankar Aiyyer’s highly uncalled for utterances agaist the prime minister.

And it was because of this that the entire Congress and its Chief Rahul Gandhi were constrained to sideline him fully. Let’s see what comes out on 19th January when the elections results of Gujarat are declared but one thing is for sure that if Congress loses here badly the entire blame will rest on the blunders of the Congress veteran Mani Shankar Aiyyer say the sources. What do you say friends.

The himalayan state of Uttarakhand despite adequate greenery and forest cover is reeling under acute water crisis, particularly due to the large sized dams constructed at the cost of environment and displacement of the local populace. While the Uttarakhand himalaya is the largest source of Ganga and Yamuna it’s surprising and shocking that the state itself is reeling under acute water crisis particularly during the summers which is also one of the main reason leading to the large scale influx of the people leaving their villages and thronging the cities, towns and metropolises of the country.

There is a general saying and the established fact that if the science plays with the natural flow of the rivers by constructing huge dams and blocking the uninterrupted natural flow of the river waters emnating from the Himalayan glaciers like the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi that finally meet each other at the main confluence point at Devprayag, at Garhwal, Uttarakhand to make it pious Ganges, the rivers become narrow and dry gradually as majority of its water is stored in the dam for the production of electricity. Sounds shocking that the natural rivers of Uttarakhand have been disturbed by these huge dams resulting water crisis and the environmental imbalance in the himalayan state of Uttarakhand.

A recent shocking instance of the Alaknanda river flowing uninterruptedly and seamlessly from the Himalayas and passing through Srinagar town in Garhwal Uttarakhand has lost its maximum water capacity because of the storing of the excessive water by the large sized Dam built at Srinagar, Koteshwar producing 330 megawatt of electricity. As per the latest reports pouring in, due to the excessive storing of the water of the running river, Alaknanda the same has lost its maximum water and has tremendously squeezed in shape and size with literally negligible water even during the peak winters at Srinagar, resulting in acute water shortage for lakhs of inhabitants of Srinagar Garhwal.

The shortage of water has also led to dying of aquatic creatures like fish etc in large quantity. The environmentalists are therefore badly concerned on the disturbing state of the seamless flowing river since centuries with complete water pressure and full of capacity. It may be recalled that a huge hydropower project had been constructed by the union government with the concurrence of the state government few years ago at Koteshwar, Srikot near Srinagar, Garhwal, Uttarakhand to produce 330 megawatt of electricity.

The environmentalists and the local populace had objected to the construction of this mega Dam but the authorities continued with the project which finally got completed three to four years ago. There is a huge pipeline and high capacity pumps of Garhwal Jal Sansthan installed between Srikot and Srinagar to supply adequate drinking water to the residents of the area. But due to the Alaknanda having been squeezed and subsequent water shortage, the water is not reaching the supply pumps of Jal Sansthan resulting in acute water crisis to lakhs of people of Srinagar, Garhwal.

Not only this but it has also invited people for illegal fishing on vast scale. The aquatic life of the river has also been affected by the water shortage in the river Alaknanda at Srinagar Garhwal. The authorities are now approaching the Dam management to release the water in the Alaknanda river so that the water shortage problem of Srinagar could be resolved and aquatic life of animals in the river is not affected further. In Uttarakhand about 598 large sized dams are said to be in pipeline for construction but have been prohibited by the Supreme Court of India for the time being.
