The former union minister and the president of the newly formed Loktantrik Janata Dal Sharad Yadav has condemned the action of the union government in desperately promoting/ appointing the joint director of CBI M. Nageshwar Rao as the interim Director of the premier investigating agency of the country at late night and sending the CBI chief Alok Verma on long leave arbitrarily.

According to Prabhat Khabar.com , the five time MP from Bihar’s Madhopura constituency Sharad Yadav said that it has never happened in the history of the country ever. He said : as per the apex court’s directives the the appointment of the director of CBI is done by the appointments committee and the court has specifically set norms that the appointment and the suspension/ termination would be affected by the official appointments committee. Whatever the government has done in the late night hours is unconstitutional, arbitrary, immoral and politically uncalled for. This action of the government amounts to intervention in the free and frank functioning of the autonomous organisation. Sharad Yadav adds that when the then director CBI Alok Verma has raised objections to the appointment of the special director Rakesh Asthana earlier, the government should have given heed to his reservations. But despite this he was appointed as Rakesh Asthana is considered to be in close proximity with the prime minister and the BJP supremo Amit Shah.

Sharad Yadav was annoyed as this is for the first time that the CBI is consucting raids in its own headquarter and investigating its own senior officers thus resulting in the denegration of the reputation and prestige of this autonomous premier investigative agency of the country. Mr. Yadav also raised objections about the transfers of all the senior CBI officers investigating the cases of Rakesh Asthana and sai that the way the givt all of a sudden send the CBI director on leave and appointed a new interim chief has send a wrong message across the country and casts doubt of the integrity of the ruling party leaders.

The Prabhat Khabar.com news adds, quoting Sharad Yada that since the day the former Director CBI has asked for the Rafale Jet fighters’ file he has been targetted by the peoole sitting at the helm and the BJP. I don’t want to go in the details in the allegations and counter allegations by the top officers of CBI to arrive at the conclusion as to who is wrong or who is right but have definitely come to the conclusion that the govt’s intentions are fully doubtful and irrational.
