Rani Mukerji kickstarts the shoot of ‘Mardaani 2’; check out her BTS still

On Saturday, debutant director Gopi Puthran took to his Instagram page and announced that his first film Mardaani 2 has finally gone on floors. The movie is the sequel to 2014’s hit film titled Mardaani starring Rani Mukerji in the lead role. The first part was directed by Pradeep Sarkar and Rani impressed everyone with her role as a tough Senior Inspector Shivani Shivaji Roy. Gopi posted the photo of the clapperboard from the sets and wrote, “To new beginnings. #mardaani2”

Today, Rani finally kickstarted the shooting forMardaani 2 and her first glimpse was captured. We came across a photo of the talented actor gearing up to give a shot. In the BTS still, Rani is seen wearing a white shirt and black trousers with a black belt tied around the waist. In the second instalment, she will be seen as Superintendent of Police. Like the first part, even here Rani will be seen fighting a merciless villain, who is of 21 years of age.

Interestingly, Gopi was the writer of the firstMardaani. Earlier talking about the project, Rani had said, “Mardaani is and will always be extremely close to my heart. Since its release, everyone has asked me time and again when I would be doing Mardaani 2 and I’m sure this announcement will come as a pleasant surprise to all of them. Gopi has written an extraordinary script and I can’t wait to start shooting this film soon.”

Mardaani 2 is likely to hit the screens later this year.
