on

After juggling between the picturesque locations of Palakkad, Pollachi, and Thailand, the makers of Raja Bheema have heaved a huge sigh of relief since they have successfully wrapped up the project on time.

Talking about the film and Arav’s efforts, director Naresh Sampath, in a statement, said, “It was really a huge process since we were shooting across different places, especially in the thick and dense forests. Well, certain things look nice when planned on papers, but to experience something unexpected on the shooting spot is a really big hurdle to cross.”

“Especially, it was difficult for Arav who was tossed by an elephant. Although he had befriended it prior to the shooting, this was completely unexpected. The slippery rocks and grounds were yet another hurdle that we had to come across during the shooting in forests. However, we are now finally happy that the entire shooting has been wrapped up,” added Naresh.

Producer S Mohan confirmed that the team is now instantly working on post-production and is planning for a summer release.

Produced by S Mohan, Raja Bheema revolves around the man-animal conflict in a forest backdrop and is packaged with commercial ingredients. The film has Ashima Narwal as the female lead role and Oviya has done a small cameo as well, which includes shaking a leg with Arav. Oviya fell in love with Arav during the Bigg Boss show and it grabbed the attention of viewers. Now, in a recent interaction, Oviya has revealed that she is single and is good friends with Arav.

Nisha Shiwani has worked in many companies in various capacities and in her free time loves to express herself through her articles. She is based out of the pink city Jaipur.

Kalank’ song ‘First class’: This Varun Dhawan-Kiara Advani number is worth the wait

Published

on

The song you had been waiting for – Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani’s ‘First Class’ is here and it was totally worth all the patience. ‘First Class’ marks Kalank’s second song. It features Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur and Madhuri Dixit-Nene in glimpses.

The keyword ‘First class’ comes much later in the song but throughout Varun Dhawan doesn’t disappoint. The song begins with Alia Bhatt’s wedding to Aditya Roy Kapur, but the focus soon shifts to Varun, who prays his namaz and has gathered in a crowd of his Muslim friends. The actor says ‘Jaise ho Eid Mein Holi’ so many times that we wonder why isn’t that the name of the song instead of ‘First Class’.

Pritam’s music plays as much an important part in the song as does Varun Dhawan‘s dancing around. The actor also does the hook step of ‘Aaj Ki Party’ (we pointed the first time the step was copied when Varun revealed stills from the song).

Soon after, Kiara Advani is introduced at the lake side. A lady is blurred out on the boat. The lake side and boat definitely play an important part in the film. Kalank’s first announcement featured a still of the lake and a lady and a man (mostly Alia Bhat-Varun Dhawan) travelling on a boat.

Kiara Advani plays an eyecandy in the song. She tries hard but can match Varun Dhawan’s energy only in a few places. What comes as a delightful surprise soon after is Madhuri Dixit-Nene’s entry. She lets out a beautiful smile on seeing the environment of celebrations.

Producer Karan Johar has definitely shelled out behind creating a grand and beautiful manneur for the song. Remo D’Souza’s choreography and Varun Dhawan’s energy in the song are the perfect match. Arijit Singh and Neeti Mohan’s voice stays with you much after the song is over. Manish Malhotra’s simplistically designed clothes also grab your attention to an extent.

Overall, although ‘First Class’ is a random dance number and Kiara Advani not having a role more than an eyecandy disappoints, the song is something that people would soon groove to. Lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya has also done a fabulous job in combining two festivals – Eid and Holi with the line, ‘Mere Tevar Mein Hai Tehzeeb Ki Rangeen Ranglo Jaise Ho Eid Mein Holi’. The film too seems to combine people of two different cultures – Varun Dhawan as a Muslim boy and Alia Bhatt as a Hindu girl. The movie could be their love story set in the pre-Independence era.

Kalank stars Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit-Nene, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles. Directed by 2 States helmer Abhishek Varman, the movie is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Sajid Nadiadwala’s Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Fox Star Studios. The epic drama is slated to release on April 19.

Disha Vakani given a 30-day ultimatum to return to ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’?

Published

on

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s Daya Ben — Disha Vakani — has been missing from the show since September 2017. The actress was blessed with a baby girl in November 2017 and she has been on a maternity break since then.

Recently, reports of her quitting the show made headlines however  producer Asit Kumarr Modiclarified in January that her contract still hasn’t been terminated. “Contract has not been closed. Character of Daya bhabhi is still there and we have not taken any actor to replace her. As and when she wants to come, we will see at that time. If mutually beneficial to both, we shall work together again,” he said in a statement.

However as per a latest report in SpotBoye Modi has now decided to give Disha the last 30 days to make up her mind and if she doesnot report back on the sets of ‘Taarak Mehta‘ within the said period, she will be replaced!

A source close to the development informed SpotBoye about the producer’s decision,  “Bas, ab ho gaya. Modi waited ethically how much he and his cast-crew could. Now,  Modi says he will just give a concession period of a month, starting today. There has been absolutely no contact between the two parties ever since Dayaben’s last day at shoot. Team Taarak Mehta  Ka Ooltah Chashmah  has no problems if she wants to look after her baby but some of her demands that they would imply if she was to return, were just not easy to accept when her husband last has a word with us.”

Disha’s character Daya Ben was shown to have left for her mother’s house in 2017 and it has been more more than a year since she has been there. Her character can’t even be killed considering it’s a comedy show.

“You are forgetting that Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is a comedy daily serial,  so they can’t bump off her character and plus they have shown that she has gone to her mother’s house. How long can Dayaben be shown to be staying in her maika?”

The source concluded, “Seems, Disha wanted to hanker for a bit of publicity in the media. So, she put a some throwback video. Toh dekhte hain kya hota hai. We will still welcome her warmly if she returns without unacceptable do’s and don’ts. Else we are going ahead with another actress after 30 days, max 35.”

It may be recalled how Disha’s husband Mayur Padia’s unreasonable demands complicated things further between the actor and the producers in January this year. He apparently wanted his wife to shoot for only four hours per day, and that too just for 15 days a month. The couple also wanted a 100 per cent hike, the source revealed.

Just in case Disha doesn’t revert in 30 days, who do you think should replace her – Rashami Desai, Gia Manek or Deepika Singh? Vote Now and tell us!

Critical of Didi, no takers for ‘Bhobishyoter Bhoot’ film

Published

on

Even after the Supreme Court, in a directive on March 15, asking West Bengal government to ensure smooth screening of ‘Bhobishyoter Bhoot‘, makers of the film are still struggling to find an exhibitor in Kolkata.

Talking to DNA, one of its producers, Kalyanmoy Chatterjee said they had written to exhibitors, but to no avail. “None of them responded. We will have to report it to the Supreme Court,” Chatterjee said. He said films normally meet 80-90 per cent of expenditure during the first two weeks of the film’s release, which the film has lost already.

Exhibitors said there was no screen available in the city. “It is already showing in places like Sodepur in North 24 Parganas and Howrah. In Kolkata, I think it is too late. There are films like Captain Marvel and Badla already doing very well and Kesari is all set to be released on Friday,” said a city-based exhibitor.

Arijit Dutta, exhibitor and owner of Priya Cinema spoke on the same lines. “If BhobishyoterBhoothad not been screened at all, it would have been a separate question; but now, it can’t be called a new film,” he said and added that makers should opt for other platforms for its release. “As the film has had the publicity it needed, it can as well be released on Netflix and other digital platforms. Producers can also talk to TV channels,” Dutta said.

However, on condition of anonymity, an exhibitor said the film is critical on Mamata government in the state. Exhibitors apparently didn’t want to take a risk by annoying Didi’s supporters.

The film, written and directed by Anik Dutta and starring Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Chandrayee Ghosh and Kaushik Sen, is about the struggle for existence for some ghosts who were trying to figure out a way to live either in cyberspace or meatspace. Dutta takes a dig at nearly all major political parties but the TMC bears a major part of the brunt. Phrases like ‘Anupreronai’ (inspired by), ‘unnayon’ (development), ‘Imam bhata’ (honorarium to Muslim clerics) and other jargons which are typical to TMC have been liberally used.

The lyrics of one of the songs said, ‘Unnoyon er koper theke naiko poritran’, which means ‘You can’t escape the predicaments of development’. The song also talks about ‘Utsav’, ‘Khela’, ‘Mela’, things that Opposition parties said Mamata was consumed with, overlooking the governance in Bengal.

The film also talks about paintings being sold for crores of rupees, hinting at Mamata’s paintings allegedly bought by chit fund company owners. One of the actors of the film had stark resemblance with TMC district president from Birbhum, Anubrata Mondal, who has been famous or infamous for his acerbic comments against the Opposition leaders and to carry out polls with the help of his musclemen.

Interestingly, Moon Moon Sen who is a TMC MP played a cameo in the film but when called up refused to comment on the issue.

Following Christchurch mosque attack Australian PM pushes G20 to tackle internet extremism

Published

on

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has called on world leaders to press technology firms to tackle the “ungoverned” space of extremist internet content in the wake of the Christchurch terror attack.

In a letter published Tuesday, the Australian leader asked the G20 summit host, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, that the issue is raised when leaders gather in Osaka this June.

Morrison is in the middle of a tough re-election campaign, where his party has faced persistent allegations of fuelling anti-migrant sentiment to appeal to conservative voters.

Morrison has spoken publicly several times to denounce extremism since the attack that killed 50 people in neighbouring New Zealand on Friday.

He has also taken aim at tech companies for their seeming inability to stop the propagation of extremist content, such as live footage shot by the gunman as he rampaged through the Al Noor mosque.

“They’ve created these capabilities, and in the overwhelming majority of cases, they’re available for peaceful and happy purposes, but we do know that they can be used and weaponised by terrorists of any description,” he told the press.

“If you can write an algorithm to make sure that the ads they want you to see can appear on your mobile phone, then I’m quite confident they can write an algorithm to screen out hate content on social media platforms,” Scott Morrison said.

“I’m sure we can work together to make sure they protect our citizens by ensuring that the tools that they have developed are not used by terrorists as weapons to advance their agendas of hate,” he added.

Opposition leader Bill Shorten backed that call, telling social media platforms, “If you help create the swamp, you can’t go missing when evil things start crawling out of it.”

Ajay Devgn, last seen in Total Dhamaal, has taken up yet another biopic. His name was recently linked to biopic on football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, after the actor has already worked on the real-life story of Taanaaji, who played the main man in Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s army.

The actor is now set to essay the role of Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik, who was in charge of the Bhuj airport during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. It was Karnik and his team, with the help of the local women, who reconstructed the destroyed Indian Air Force airstrip at Bhuj in Gujarat, in what could be termed as India’s ‘Pearl Harbour’ moment. The movie, based on a true incident, is touted to be one of India’s most fascinating war-related stories.

Talking about the film, producer Bhushan Kumar told Times Of India, “This courageous tale needs to be told because we want the current and the coming generation to know about this brave soldier, Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik, who played a significant role in India’s victory in the 1971 war. Vijay Karnik also seemed happy to have Ajay Devgn on board to tell his tale. He told the publication, “We were fighting a war and if there had been any casualties of any of these women, it would have been a great loss. But I took the decision and it worked out. I had briefed them where they could take shelter if attacked and they followed it bravely. Also, I could only see Ajay Devgn essaying my character and I’m glad that he’s on board.”
