Our heartfelt tributes to a true son of the soil Goa CM n former defence minister Manohar Parikkar

The sad demise of the former union defence minister and the Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar has shattered each and every Indian.

A symbol of simplicity, transparacy, impeccable integrity and a down to earth human being and an outstanding administrator n a politician is no more who left for the eternal journey at the age of 63 leaving one and all in the state of utter shock n despair.

Manohar Parrikar was across ideologies and more of a humane personality who identified himself with humility and simplicity serving the people of Goa and the country for decades selflessly and with precision.

Losing him is like losing a close friend, a genuine well wisher, a politician with impeccable integrity and above all a statesman.

A chief minister with utmost simplicity who travelled by a scooty with affable nature and down to earth behaviour has set an unique example of honesty n transparency in public life across ideology n party lines never ever caring for luxurious lifestyle n comforts but fully dedicated towards public service with utmost sincerely, clarity, transparency and selfless interests. The country has lost a true fighter against social evils, corruption and wrongs in the socio political system of the country.

The former union defence minister, Goa CM and an outstanding administrator Manohar Parrikar has today left a huge vaccum in the country never ever to be filled again.

Suffering from acute pancreatic cancer and fighting the dreaded desease most courageously for the last several months this true son of the soil breathed his last yesterday in Goa after relentlessly struggling to survive for the last several months even attending to his pivotal duties as the state CM under extremely odd and challenging situations.

The social networking sites of the country n the globe are full of news of Parriker’s sad and shocking demise. It may be recalled that after seriously suffering from acute Pancreatic cancer Parriker headed for treatment to the United States of America in March 2018 and was back to India thereafter to again get addmitted at AIIMs in the month of September.

Despite being in bad health Parriker returned to Goa in October but continued serving asthe Chief minister despite bad health.

But his health continued to deteriorate thereafter as well and he finally succumbed to his deteriorating health due to cancer having spread elsewhere in the body.

Even while Parrikar was the Defence minister he was extremely active and mobile and was immensely instrumental in making the Defence sector fully modernised and tuned to the latest standards.

The President of India Ram Nath Kovind, Prime minister Narendra Modi, defence minister Dr. Nirmala Sitaraman and the Congress chief Rahul Gandhi including all the central ministers n leaders of the opoosition parties expressed their immense grief and shock over Mr. Parrikar’s sad demise and condoled his death praising him for his valuable and undaunting service and contribution to the country during his chequered political carreer of several decades as the chief minister Goa and the union defence minister since 2014.

Manohar Parrikar was an IItian and an RSSite who was elected to Goaassembly for the first time in 1994. He was elected as the Goa CM in the year 2000 and continued till 2014 when prime minister Narendra Modi brought him to centre as the union defence minister. In his condolence message the prime minister Narendra Modi called him the true n unparalleled leader.

He added that Parrikkar was the builder of modern Goa . Thanks to his affable personality and accessible nature. He remained the preferred leader of Goa for years, tweeted Modi on his twitter handle. His pro people policies ensured Goa scales remarkable heights of progress, added PM Modi.

Sunil Negi hails from Uttarakhand and is a veteran journalist and author. He is a prolific writer and has carved a name for himself in the media world. He received the 'Golden Achiever Award' in the '90th AIAC Excellence Awards 2019' for his book ''Havoc in Heaven'' based on the tragedy that struck Uttarakhand in which thousands of people lost their lives. He is also the President of Uttarakhand Journalists Forum and majorly writes on Politics, Current Affairs, and Social Issues.

    Honest & humble , Shri Manohar Parrikar will be missed as a good human & sincere politician. He leaves a large vacuole in bjp by his departure to the heavenly world. May his soul rest peacefully
