THE SWEARING IN CEREMONY of the chief minister of Karnataka designate H. D. Kumamaraswamy on May 23rd at Karnataka Raj Bhawan or some other venue of the Congress, JD(S) choice despite being in minority but with the Congress’s support, is going to be a show of the signficant presence of galaxy of non BJP opposition leaders from all over the country including several incumbent chief ministers of various states and the leaders of the largest and the oldest political party of the country.

The important and interesting swearing in ceremony though simple in nature would be attended by Congress stalwart Sonia Gandhi, party president and the probable prime ministerial candidate in the 2019 election Rahul Gandhi, leader of the Dalits and BSP chief Mayawati, chief minister of West Bengal active in clubbing together the anti BJP forces nationalky Mamta Bannerjee, Andra Pradesh chief minister Chandra Babu Naidu, Telengana chief minister K. Chandra shekhar Rao, Puducharry CM V. Narayan Swamy, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, Delhi chief Minister Arvind Kejrival and CPM general secretary Sitaram Yachury. Beside them several other leaders of regional set ups may also attend. The vital presence of these leaders in the swearing in ceremony is bound to open doors of the anti BJP opposition unity for the general elections of 2019 as the aforesaid leaders represent every community and sections of the society in their own right.

The JD (S) leader and the CM designate of Karnataka himself revealed that when he met BSP chief Mayavati in New Delhi to convey his thanks for her unstinted support to JD (S) in Karnataka elections and to assure her of giving a cabinet berth to her sole MLA in Karnataka including discussions on the future anti BJP oppositiin unity, it becomes absolutely clear that the Dalit leader Mayavati n the JD(S) are too serious on the score of the anti BJP opposition unity which may get further impetus when all the opposition leaders and chief ministers with secular credentials meet each other at the Karnataka swearing in ceremony and exchange pleasentaries.

Political analysts say that the Karnataka elections and the timely tie up between the Congress and JD(S) and the political collaboration in the UP byeelections in Gorakhpur and Sitapur, badly defeating the BJP parliamebtary candidates in both these seats with the prior defeats of the BJP in Alwar n an other constituency including the RJP victories in Bihar byelections has made one thing absolutely and unambiguously clear that where ever and when ever the anti BJP forces have alingned together credibly the BJP candidates have lost despite the ongoing saffron wave of the ruling party.

Meanwhile the JD(S) CM designate HD Kumaraswamy has met the Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi at the latters’ 12 Tuglak Road residence and extended invitation for the swearing in ceremony. Sonia and Rahul readily accepted the invitation. Meanwhile, majority of the modalities have been discussed amongst the leaders of JD (S) and Congress and it is learnt that the Congress will have a deputy chief minister and a speaker including five cabinet minister initially with other ministers from JD(S) and a cabinet minister from BSP. Meanwhile, the BJP chief Amit Shah has described the JD(S) Congress alliance as unholy and said that they have no right to rule saying that BJP being the single largest party had the right to govern.
