The apex court has ordered all cinema halls in the country to play national anthem before showing the  movie and all people who are present in the hall must  stand up in respect till the anthem ended. This is a historic decision which the Supreme Court has given would instill a feeling within one a sense of committed patriotism and nationalism.

While playing the national anthem cinema halls will have to display national flag on screen when the anthem is played.

This decision was given by the bench of Justices Dipak Misra and Amitava Roy said it is time people expressed their love for the motherland.

Justice Misra further said that in other countries, you respect their decisions but in India you do not want any restrictions? Now the time has come when people must feel this is my country and this is my motherland because we are Indian first.

So according to the Supreme Court it is the duty of every person to show respect when the national anthem is played or recited or sung under the prevention of insults to National Honour Act of 1951.

The court tightly said that people should feel that they live in a nation and show respect to the national anthem and the national flag. So it is the duty of people to imbibe and express respect to the inherent quality of the anthem and the flag.

The court has also banned the display of the national anthem on any undesirable or disgraceful places and such type of display would be treated as disrespect to national anthem. Not just this display and recitation of the abridged version of the national anthem is also banned.

The cinema halls will have closed all the doors when the national anthem is being played to prevent people from entering or leaving the hall.

The court wants people to see the order in the same spirit as the protocol of showing respect and honour to the anthem and flag is rooted in our national identity, integrity and constitutional patriotism.

This court order will be distributed to Chief Secretaries of States and Union Territories and it shall be widely published by the print and electronic media so that people wake up to see the order in its letter and spirit.

This order would be applicable within a week hence.

Justice Misra also said “Universalism is alright but little still Bharat is the epitome of culture, knowledge… Gyaan and Vigyaan,”

This decision was taken while hearing a plea filed by Shyam Narayan Chouskey to clarify when the national anthem should be sung.

This plea was filed in a court after a wheelchair bound man was assaulted by a couple at a cinema hall in Panaji for not standing up during the rendition of the anthem.
