Several Congress leaders and a delegation of Aaam Admi Party today met the Election Commissioner and strongly protested by submitting memorandums to him complaining about the misuse of the government machinery n social media sites by the ruling party at the centre n states and still using the huge banners, posters n other mode of publicity with the prime minister’s pictures on them to derive maximum political milieage during the general election which is completely arbitrary n forbidden under EC laws.

Both the Congress n AAP leaders have complained that about 60000 or more such huge government banners n hoardings pertaining to various government schemes such as Ujjawala Gas Connection Scheme, Ayushmaan Bharat, post Pulwama Pak terror attack lauding the BJP govt n PM and and BJP leaders with the PM’s picture on them etc are still being exhibited in various petrol pumps, govt offices, markets n places of public domain should be removed immediately as the Code of conduct has already been announced by the election commission.

It may be recalled that elections have been announced from April 11 till May and as such the election code of conduct has also been imposed in the country.

After the imposition of code of conduct there is complete ban of any formal government announcement of schemes, release of government funds, posters, hoardings etc from govt’s side for publicity, use of govt vehicles in elections, gake news, misuse of social media, use of MP, MLA lad funds etc.

Any such activity which shows misuse of the govt position, funds, vehicles, official announcement of schemes, using govt posters to impress voters, distributing liquor, currency or anything in kind to electorates including misuse of social media, fake news etc are legally forbidden n prohibited failing which there is provision for stringent punishment and cancellation of the election of the guilty candidate with jail term.

While confabulating with the Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora both the party leaders of AAP n Congress have asked the EC to immediately withdraw/ take off all the hoardings n poster of PM Modi’s pictures n government schemes from various sites in the country and take legal action against the BJP forthwith. The Congress n AAP leaders also demanded using of the image of Abhinandan in FB, Twitter n Whattsapp by BJP and misuse of the social media sites by the saffron party for political ends put to stop forthwith.

Now, since the dates of general elections have been declared the season of complaints n counter complaints have started with leaders of various political parties approaching Election Commission very often with budles of complaints, some genuine n some fake.

The election commission has assured of the action in this regard and said that it has already taken cognisance of the complaint by issuing directives to the authorities to remove all such hoardings forthwith.
