The pall of gloom decended in the DMK camp and the residence of late M Karunanidhi at Chennai after the tallest leader of DMK and Tamilnadu was declared dead at 6.10 P. M. by the Executive Director of Kaveri Hospital, Chennai where he was under trearment for last few days.
The 95 year old veteran leader of DMK having been the chief minister for five terms from 1969 to 2011 breathed his last after suffering from several severe age related ailments.
Starting his political career as the script writer of Tamilnadu films M. Karunanidhi rose to the top slot of the state as the chief minister after the death of DMK founder Annadurai.
He was first the cabinet minister in the DMK founder Annadurai’s ministry in Tamilnadu who later on became chief minister after his leaders sad demise.
Initially, the popular film star MGR was in DMK with Karunanidhi but lateron developed cracks to form AIADMK which ruled Tamilnadu several times under MGR and later on under J. Jaya Lalitha.
Karunanidhi always had the say in the central politics and got ministerial berths for DMK in various government at the centre. He is considered to be the tallest leader, a patriarch of DMK and Tamilnadu.
His death has created a huge void in Tamilnadu’s politics which would be difficult to fill say his supporters.
Several political dignitories hailing from different parties have expressed their grief over the sad demise of the former chief minister of Tamilnadu and a patriarch of DMK and are flying to Chennai to pay their last tributes in his cremation.
In a press released issued by the Kaveri hospital, its executive director, said : With deep anguish, we announce the demise of our beloved Kalaingar Dr. M. Karunanidhi on 7.8. 2018 at 6.10. P. M.
Despite the best possible efforts by our team of doctors and nurses to resusticate him, he failed to respond. We profoundly mourn the loss of the tallest leaders of India and we share the grief of family members and fellow Tamilians worldwide.
Steep hike in petrol prices after Karnataka elections!
The increasing rise in the international price of crude reaching 80 USD per dollar is bound to affect the Indian economy and simultaneously rise in inflation. It is said that one of the significant reasons for this enhancement is due to the American stand towards the Iranian Nucleur policy threatening sanctions and reversing the stand taken by his predeccesor Barak Obama. However China and India, the largest oil importers from Iran and Saudi Arab have not supported the US stand with regard to Iran and would continue to import crude oil from the Islamic nation keeping in view India’s dire need for oil.
But if we look at the domestic front, it’s an unambiguous fact that when the government of BJP led NDA came to power at the centre, the international crude price that was over 115 USD per barrel has steadily come down to 30 n 35 USD per barrel but there had been consistent rise in the prices of the petro products like LPG, Petrol and Diesal and if we believe in the statement of the former finance minister of India, Yashwant Sinha, the prices of Petroleum products were raised nine times during the last four years under the current regime.
It may be recalled that when Dr. Manmohan Singh was the Prime minister prior to the BJP led NDA assuming power at the centre, the per litre petrol price was Rs 71 and then the international crude oil was 110 or 115 USD per barrel but today the international crude price is 80 dollars per barrel and the prce of petrol per barrel is more than that i.e. over 80 rupees, despite the fact that the international crude price is 35 US dollar less per barrel that what it was during the Congress regime.
This means that when the crude price was 30 to 35 USD per barrel till the current rate of 80 USD the price rise of Diesal, Petrol and LPG had been consistently being enhanced as according to Yashwant Sinha, the strongest critic of the the BJP led NDA and former BJPite, the saffron party n its government have been incessantly burdening the people by way of imposing heavy taxes on petro products to cover its national fiscal deficit but not thinking of providing relief to the countrymen.
In an exclusive interview given to the senior anchor and journalist Karan Thaper of The Wire, Prime minister Narendra Modi’s bete noire who was till a few months back in BJP and minister for Finance and external affairs in Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government, Yashwant Sinha blamed the PM of incurring 4 thousand crores in his publicity from the public exchequer, in the name of various achievements but the ground reality reflects that more of the publicity had been done for personal image building than actually acknowledging concrete achievements on various fronts.
He catagorically said that burdening people of the country by applying maximum tax on petro products nine times during the BJP NDA rule is like betraying the peoples’ trust who’d voted the government of the saffron party with a resounding majority at the centre as well as 21 states of the country.
Had the government been caring for the people of the country it could have conveniently withdrawn heavy taxes on petro products thus easing the inflationery pressures on the essential commodities whose prices are skyrocketting these days.
It may be recalled that the rise in prices of petrol, diesal and consumer gas leads to the enhancement in the rates and tarrif of transport further adding in the increase in the inflation of food products, steel, building material, vegetables, food grains and literally everything.
There have been constant demand from the trading community and the people of the country to bring Petroleum products under the jurisdiction of GST so that its prices could be lowered and people of the country relieved of the burden of high petro products’ prices but all in vain.
After the demonetisation, the way the government and those at the helm had assured the electorates of the country that not only would the financial coffers of the state exchequer would be over filled with unearthed black money but the countrymen would also be getting tremendous employment, and cheaper goods whether they are eatables, vegetables, food grains or education but on the contrary unfortunately lakhs of small medium businesses were shut down but hundreds of thousands of peoole of the lower strata of the society and those hailing from.the middle and lower middle class were contrained to loose their jobs, skilled as well as unskilled.
The government has received over 14 lakh 70 thousand crores rupees as recovery in banks but the prices of essential commodities, petro products are still touching skies and employment opportunities are negligible with people of the lowest strata of the society groaning in pain for want of concessions in every sector, may it be on employment front, price rise front, cheaper education front, standard of living front, business front, housing front, agricultural, the health front or women safety front. The agrarian crisis and farmers suicides are still on the rise with little or no ray of hope for credible relief in the offing. Whats your take friend?
RAJNIKANT’S ENTRY IN ACTIVE POLITICS WOULD LEAD TO HEAVY POLITICAL DEBACLE FOR DMK, AIADMK
The anouncement of superstar Rajnikant to join active politics and form his new political party on the advent of the new year 2018 has sent shock waves to the two regional political outfits AIADMK and DMK which have been ruling the southen state Tamilnadu turn by turn for a long time. Entry of the highest TRP carrying 67 year old superstar in Tamilnadu politics and south India fans around the globe, Rajnikant with an announcement to form his own political outfit is bound to pose a direct political threat to both the seasoned parties of the South as corruption and accumulation of excessive wealth through unfair means by these parties and their families over the past several decades and promoting dynastic politics is the prime and foremost election plank of the superstar likely to contest the state elections in all the 2014 seats.
Rajnikant’s announcement to enter active politics was on the air for quite sometime with his millions of fans and well wishers putting on him tremendous pressure to join active politics or form his own party. He had just four days ago while addressing the meeting of his fans in Chennai assured that he will make his decision clear on 31st December and finally made up his mind to do so. The decision of super star Rajnikant has been welcomed by the super star of Indian film industry and Rajnikant’s close friends Amitabh Bachchan, prominent star of the South and Hindi films Kamala Hassan as well who’d wished him all the very best but the BJP and Congress leaders were conspicuous by their absence in congratulating the southern super star.
However, one of the national BJP spokesman PVR Narsimha Rao did congratulated him by saying that Rajnikant is undoubtedly the super star of the south but further tweeted that one should not forget that prime minister Narendra Modi is the national and international superstar loved and adored by one and all. This is not the first time that Rajnikant as a popular actor is forming a new political party in Tamilnadu but the seasoned regional parties, the DMK and AIADMK have also been formed by eminent filmstars of the south namely MG Ramachandran and M Karunanidhi, though the popular actress J Jayalalitha later on carried forward the leadership of AIADMK after MGR’s death and ruled the state charismatically for several years undisputedly.
It may be recalled that after the death of J Jayalalitha a most popular charismatic leader of AIADMK and CM, the the party has been divided into two factions with her one time closest associate Shashikala in jail on several corruption charges while the DMK led by ninety year old leader M Karunanidhi is in the opposition with his family members embroiled in several charges of corruption. The people of the state are fed up with with the dynastic politics of DMK led by M Karunanidhi who is usually seemed entangled in promoing his sons Stalin, nephews, daughter Kanimozhi, son in laws etc in state politics while the other regional party AIADMK after J. Jayalalitha’s demise has been divided in two factions with their leaders in no match to their deceased charismatic leader’s towering image.
The two national parties Congress and BJP have little or negligible say in state politics despite the prime minister Narendra Modi trying to make in roads by meeting M Karunanidhi recently and also participating in the funeral of late J. Jaya lalitha, a year ago. In view of the fluid political situation in the state and the electorates having become fed up by the widespread corruption in both these parties and its leaders behind jail and embroiled in several money laundering charges, there is a huge political vaccum of a charismatic leader in the state politics. Therefore, super star and most popular iconic personality of the South Rajnikant’s entry in active politics by way of forming his own political party and contesting in the forthcoming state elections would definitely pave a way for new political alternative in this southern state with the former forming his government by all means.
In Tamilnadu’s politics change seem to be inevitable and Rajnikant seems to be all set to achieve the top slot of the state. Come 2019 or before he is a sure sort winning bet for the chief minister’s post, come what may say the political analysts.
Super Star Rajnikant to make his debut in active politics on the advent of new year 2018
Renowned film star of the South Indian films carrying the myriad TRP and billions of fan following in India and world particlarly amongst the south Indian movie goers Rajnikant is all set to join actice politics and is likely to clear his mind on 31st December, 2017 the last day of the advent of the new year 2018. Super star Rajnikant said he knows lot about politics and is sure to make his mark if he really joins active politics but would clear his mind on 31st December.
He however said that despite tremendous pressure on him to join active politics and his being well versed in it is still too reluctant to may his foray in politics. The sixty seven year old super star of the having acted in myriad number of southern films including several super duper hits like Andha Kanoon and Robot etc with outstanding beautiful and gorgious heroines like Hema Malini and Aishwarya Rai Rajnikant said that he is not new for politics but have to see when would the actual war of elections take place.
When we’ll participate in the election war we’ll have to ensure that victory becomes mandatory with no ifs and buts. And for the confirmed triumph or victory no only is relentless struggle and courage is essential but a planed stratwgy is inevitable too. He said the media of the south and the country is more curious and interested about my joining active politics than my billions of fans. He was welcomed by tumultuous raising of pro Rajnikant slogans in Chennai while addressibg a large gathering of his ardent fans. He also cautioned his fans for not to be misled by the rumours in the social networking sites. Rajnikant’s speculation about entering the politics in the South has perturbed several politcal parties, particularly the DMK and AIDMK.
The national party BJP is trying to woo him at its best by sending him feelers and the regiinal political outfits badly perturbed of losing their political say once this Super star makes a credible entry into active politiics. He was even invited by PM Narendra Modi personally at his official residence.
After acquittal of Raja in 2G scam, question mark on agencies concerned?
The acquittal of those named as accused and imprisoned politicians, rather former union ministers in the scams of 2G, 4G, whatever, by the honourable court after being reportedly made suspicious and dubious by CAG, makes one thing absolutely unambiguous that whatever charges were levelled against them by one of the trusted and reliable investigation agency of the country were fake and biased and defnitely poses a question mark on the powers that be. Sounds shocking, though I have the fullest faith on our respected honourable judiciary and the investigating agencies that how come, not a single iota of evidence was produced against them.
The same was the fate with the much hyped Bofors case in which late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi was aquitted hands down. The point is, if these once named accused had to go scot free then who and how come that the issue was raised during the national elections of 2014 and the then ruling party had to suffer and lose the power. We are not for or against those involved in this biggest scam of the century but then if they had to go scot free then who is ultimately to be blamed for their so called involvement in these scams and why has the people of the country made to feel and develop opinion for so long that this scam was the handiwork of the previous government which lost the general election as a symbol of corruption allegedly putting the blame on the then prime minister of the country Dr. Manmohan Singh as well.
I fondly remember that similarly the then late Vishwanath Pratap Singh, ex prime minister came to power at the centre on Bofors issue and the matter was hyped beyond proportion but after the sad and brutal assasination of Rajiv Gandhi, he was outrightly acquitted of all charges. Just imagine how much of the tension, trauma, psychlogical and mental pressures these politicians or any one involved , were constrained to face or confront in extremely odd and challenging situations thus clarifying their positions or presenting logics in front of the people of the country and media, finally losing at the hustings and now scot free as one of the most impeccably honest persons. Question here is not of who had lost and who has won, but the moot point is, the huge amount of tragic situations, trauma, psychological pressures, mental disturbances and the degradation of respect and reverence one faces or confronts by being called an accused publicly, can it ever be resurrected or given back after the acquittal.
I think this is something unforgettable and unanswerable. This is the story about high profile politicians who get let off due to their high political influence or money power to hire the best of the advocates or resources but what about those accused hailing from the lower middle classes or the lowest ebb of the society who get entangled in serious charges for the crime they have not committed and are languishing in jails for no reason or fault of theirs. Such examples are enough pointers about our faulty system under which justice is actually not delievered to those who actually deserve to be freed and those go scot free who really deserve to be behind bars.
I leave the question to the honourable wise readers and opinion makers. Please do analyse and respond accordingly.
